QUOTE(kageman129 @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 11:20 AM) Sooo, I know it was posted before but I can't find it. Someone posted the link to Wikipedia and all of the White Sox/baseball players introduction music . . . I was just wondering if someone still had that, cause I can't find it. Also, does anyone know the song that they play before each game? When they show all the clips of past White Sox. I know it's in Pirates of the Caribbean, but I can't find it to download. Some help with this would be great! The music during the montage is a splicing of two tracks from the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. One is called "He's a Pirate", the other is "Skull and Crossbones". As for the player intros, I am not really sure, and they change sometimes.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) It all comes down to James Polk's Manifest Destiny. That's not as crazy as it sounds.

Mitchell to tear the house down?

This should be very interesting. I am looking forward to it. If Ross Gload is on that list, I am giving up on baseball. -
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) I can imagine what this conversation looks like to outsiders. "!$#%$YTY%$^^%$ %^&&^" "FG%RYHJYUJJUYJK" "f***" "%$^^%&**&$^%&&^" "*************************************************" "As far as I can tell....they're arguing over who is more peaceful!" That's actually quite funny.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) Oh and the Reagan bashing, which started completely out of nowhere, is uncalled for. You can't be serious. Its OK to bash Gore, someone says Reagan did more than Gore, and its NOT OK to bash Reagan?

EPA approves BP's new pollution dumping

Good news in this case, though - the EPA is actually choosing to protect the environment. How novel. -
2007 Post ASB White Sox Catch-All Thread

Turns out that Fields will indeed be working on his left field play this winter, even though he was taken out of the Instructional league due to his heavy work this year (scroll down a bit). Instead, he'll be working on the side with Harold Baines and Daryl Boston (minor league outfield coach) on outfields skills. -

Then again, maybe Indiana just really doesn't give a s*** if Lake Michigan becomes toxic. -
Rowand at 14x6 = bad (and never going to happen anyway) Rowand at 10x4, though, is worth serious consideration.

QUOTE(NUKE @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 10:17 AM) Reagan did more for world peace by lifting his pinky finger than Algore did with his enviro-alarmist propaganda film and chicken little speeches could do in a lifetime. They should re-label this award to read "number one leftist award". How enlightening.

Negotiation. Important word here. He won't get that much, he is probably as sure of that as everyone else is.
-
That article was missing the answer to the most important question that should have been asked.

First, Kap, that sucks for the little one. I hope it subsides quickly. Second... Good for Al Gore Good for the environment I'm kind of meh about Al, but if this continues to raise the profile of the things we need to do to not further damage our natural resources, then I am ecstatic. Third, I am also now very curious about Gore maybe making a run. Here is a thought - he may actually make a really good VP choice for someone. Or an administration piece in any case.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) Which is all the more encouraging if his velocity is as what's reported in this thread. How often do pitchers throwing below 90 miss bats at such a high rate and limit home runs without deception, specialty pitches or superb location? He obviously has something to his benefit which explains the success of these last two seasons. Pitching without fear isn't reason alone. I think you are getting at a real key here. When a player or pitcher succeeds repeatedly despite not having some particular key bit of "stuff", instead of wondering what it is about the player that is being missed, some people just decide it must be luck. Or the ballpark. Or anything other than maybe their method of evaluation (i.e. velocity) isn't perfect. Also... stuff is not the same as velocity. If he is getting people out as often and with as many K's as he is at multiple levels, with a fastball not much above 90, then he clearly does indeed have good stuff.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 07:20 PM) He doesn't have much of a fastball and as such doesn't belong on this list. Besides, I don't think he's better than anyone on that list, and he definitely has no high ceiling. He's "smart," and he has good control, and he throws a good sinker, but with his fastball, he's going to have to prove some things at AAA and at the majors before he can be indignant that someone says he isn't a top prospect by any standard. I can't believe people are actually indignant because Jack Egbert isn't on this list. What kind of fastball does he have? What kind of velocity, location and movement? I really don't know, but you seem to. Egbert's track record speaks for itself. It doesn't mean he is a lock for some spectacular future, but looking at his cohorts at that level and their track records, I think its a very positive set of indications that he is likely to succeed. I am looking forward to see how he does at Charlotte.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 10:48 AM) Joy riding is against the law now? joy riding, when referenced as such, means stealing a car and taking it for a ride. Its usually used as a down-charge, so that they don't have to prosecute for GTA, a felony.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 10:34 AM) This is a guy the Sox should make President of the team or something. I thought he was already President of Soxtalk. Oh wait... -
QUOTE(daa84 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 06:34 PM) not that this is even close to being a concrete rumor...but someone once told me jack buck accused mike schmidt (who admitted to using amphetamines) of using steroids and buck believed that they crept their way into the game even since that era.....not a fact, but wouldnt doubt it, and as you said, the stuff isnt new...i believe the prevalence of it and the "designer drug" nature of it is a newer phenomenon That would be particularly distressing, since Schmidt was doing some very direct, admonishing PSA's for MLB in the early 80's trying to discourage drug use in teens.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 09:44 AM) Well it WAS in the article he linked to. Maybe he was just being lazy like the MSM and threw it out there as 'convicts', because that's how the headline slants the story. I am not a journalist. I read the news. I linked to the news. Convicts is 100% correct in any case. Would people prefer I just cut and paste the entire text of articles from now on?
-
QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 09:37 AM) Why not add what the 'convictions' were for? That's why I linked the article, as I try to always do. I could also have added some of the other negative, or positive, aspects, but I only provided the bottom line. I could have asked, for example, if 87% were misdemeanors... then what were the 13% - felonies? Because that's an even scarier number. Of course its a bad story - its a bad set of circumstances.
-
Good news: the Army met its recruiting goal for the last year. Bad news: they did it by admitting much larger numbers of convicts and people without HS Diplomas. Link.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) Who exactly wants to get rid of Kotchman? FWIW, the trio of Shields, Figgins and Kotchman out-VORP'ed Konerko and Garland by a rather large margin (77.2 to 52). Even if you don't believe in VORP, those numbers show who's getting the better end of the deal, and that doesn't even take into account the ~$50 million off the books. As far as the Angel fans who want to get rid of Kotchman, let's hope that their GM is also in that camp. The more I think about a deal like this, the more I realize this deal would be a huge victory for the Sox -- arguably better than Kenny's swipe of Bartolo Colon. Yeah, having let this deal roll around a little while, I am now solidly in the camp that thinks it would be a very good deal for the Sox, if you take everything (including reduced payroll) into account.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 04:44 PM) That's not in this article. I hadn't seen that. People are idiots. Oh, sorry, that was in the other thread. Some blogger said the kid should be hung in public.
