  1. It appears Sanders is now leading in both Iowa and New Hampshire. Still quite early, but interesting nonetheless. If Biden jumps in, I'm not sure which of Sanders or Clinton he hurts more, might be evenly split.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 10:37 PM) Glad to see JJ cooper did comment on sox players, when i followed it on twitter seemed like it was all comments on cubs prospects. He talked about Fulmer, Michalczewsi and Alvarez, all unprompted. The Clark bit was because we (FS) asked about him. Josh Norris from BA was there too, commented on some of the same guys.
  3. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 06:39 PM) How does Clark rate as a prospect? Has a FB that runs to mid-90s, though JJ Cooper (BA) called it fringe AVG in today's game (may be tiring as he adds innings). Good slider, strong command of all his pitches. Works quick from what I saw today. He's been on fire since like July, and this is a guy who skipped a level. He's also been improving as he increases innings loads. He's a prospect - not a real high end one, but a prospect.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) If we want to talk about judgment mistakes by Hillary I continue to be open to that. For example, I've voted against her previously and will probably still vote against her again due to her incorrect judgment on the worst strategic mistake the United States has made in the last 50 years, perhaps in its whole history depending on how things shake out in that part of the world over the next few decades. Compared to that act of poor judgment, "having her own email server so she can use both work and private email on the same address while following poorly written state department rules" doesn't measure up at all. On the bolded, come on now. You mean the Iraq War? It's bad she supported it, no argument there, as it was clearly a very stupid idea from the start. But your hyperbole here is really something else.
  5. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 03:22 PM) I wonder if the Sox will keep Fulmer limited to three innings or possibly allow an extra inning or two if Fulmer is pitching well. Going to be following this game on line tonight. They will probably do what they've been doing - tandem innings with Clark. That duo has been deadly too. I'd suspect we get 2-3 innings from Fulmer, then 4-6 from Clark.
  6. We will be doing seasons in review for each affiliate. We already did one for the AZL club. Here is the Charlotte Knights season in review post, going over some highlights and key players' performances.
  7. Play the kids - Thompson, Johnson & Johnson, Brantly*, everyone who has come up recently. See what you have in them. Give them regular playing time. If they win, great. If they lose, fine. But use the time wisely, development-wise.
  8. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) Please elaborate. Well first, look at the last few (say, 3) drafts. They team isn't drafting Jared Mitchell and Keenyn Walker anymore. They also aren't drafting "safe" college arms in order to sign for slot. And they are doing overslot picks lower in the draft and spending extra money to do so. Also, the new rules have helped the Sox immensely, and they've used basically their full pool (in 2014 they in fact went over) every year. No working to save money for that sake. That's a big change too. Then there are the personnel. Some are the same, some are different. Hostetler, who is not a through-and-through Sox guy, is now basically running the draft. And there are other scouting and front office personnel changes. Coaches in the minors have changed in some cases, though Mr. Bell is still around. This doesn't even touch on the LatAm stuff, which has gone from dead in the water to now starting to churn out talent state-side as the 16-year olds grow up a bit. Point is, the club is doing some very different things now than they were just three years ago (or 2 or 4) on the amateur side. People seem to think the club is still just drafting either Walker/Mitchell types or Broadway types. That simply isn't true.
  9. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) I should have my ass kicked. I live a few miles from Camelback Ranch and not far from the other parks. You can go see these games for free and no one really attends them. I missed a Rodon opportunity last year. I feel like a dope missing a winning Sox team in my backyard. The good news is, the AFL starts in about a month. You could go check out one of those games. Sox will have 7 or 8 guys there.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 08:21 AM) yes Not good. Says he's regressed. QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Ha! ERA dropped, WHIP dropped, still maintains an elite K/BB rate at a level where he is very young. Keith Law is talking out of his ass. I think you are both missing the mark here. Stats are an indicator but not necessarily telling you he's better. Also, Law didn't exactly say anything as bad as GreenSox characterizes. What we are seeing, and which Rob pointed out and which we've gotten from two interviews with him and his pitching coaches (both Bautista and Perdew), is Adams making changes he needs to make. Short term, it causes issues. Long term, he's likely a better pitcher.
  11. Recap posted. Great Falls eliminated, after an 8-year playoff run.
  12. Great Falls lost their regular season finale, thus ending the regular season across the system. Recap coming up shortly.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) c. Yes, her email server appears to have followed all appropriate state department rules. It has exposed that there are some issues with State Department employees emailing things that turn out to be classified over unclassified networks, but part of the problem with that is that the amount of classified information our government has is absolutely insane. The Secretary of State is going to be involved in a drone strike program but the details of that program and even its existence have been retroactively classified. And you've made it 100% clear you don't care. This completely ignores the fundamental act of stupidity that was Hillary Clinton deciding to use a non-governmental email address and non-standard server to handle State Department business. It shows stunningly poor judgment on her part.
  14. The younger-leaning of the two White Sox rookie affiliates won their league championship last week. From a developmental perspective, this is interesting in that the AZL team is what used to be the Bristol team. And that combined team had been awful for years. the fact that they won it all, and that the other rookie club (Great Falls) is also close to a playoff spot, indicate increased potential in the lower end of the system. Kim Contreras, our AZL correspondant who was there for many games including the big win, wrote this piece - not a prospect analysis, more of a story. This is what it looked like. You should give it a read.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) It's unusual to have an Advanced A team with 5 true prospects in their rotation (to varying degrees of course). Love it. Revision to this - they really have six prospect starters. Clark pairs with Fulmer.
  16. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 07:55 PM) If you don't believe your team has good scouting and developing like it really matters. Drafting the same position over and over doesn't work. Ask Matt Millen. Look at some of the misses on position players. Kenny seemed to like multi sport athletes. They were athletes but not baseball players. If the Sox were an NFL team they would draft every guy who looks good at the combine. They would get receivers who run a 4.3 but poor hands and bad at running routes. Then they think they can fix those deficiencies when you really can't at that level of performance. They need better scouts and coaches. While the last sentence may be true, the rest of this post wholesale ignores the past few years of history. You have a different crowd making most of the decisions now, and you can see in who they've drafted that their style has changed noticeably.
  17. QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 10:42 AM) That's the way it was for Arenado. And, I think RBI is an important stat. It has something to do with coming through with men on base. It's a skill. Arenado had it in low minors, also. RBI is borderline meaningless in evaluating prospects. It is in great part dependent on what others do, not the player in question, so it just isn't useful. Not to mention, even if you want to look at w/RISP numbers, the sample sizes are pretty small to be meaningful. He hit .289 w/ RISP this year, vs .259 AVG. Last year, he hit under .250 in that situation, which was below his average. The variance should tell you something.
  18. Recap of the full weekend slate of games here.
  19. QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 07:53 PM) The Dash released their playoff rotation. It's going to be Fulmer, Yency Almonte, Brennan. If they go to league finals Guerrero and Adams will pitch. Pretty scary rotation when you think about it, no wonder they've dominated in the second half. It's unusual to have an Advanced A team with 5 true prospects in their rotation (to varying degrees of course). Love it.
  20. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) @philgrogers: White Sox 3B Trey Michalczewski, 20, finishes 2nd in Carolina League w/75 RBIs. A switch-hitter, he's driven in 171 runs in 318 pro games. Haven't read much on him. Anyone seen him or know about him? lol Rogers evaluating prospects by RBI's. That has zero to do with why Trey is good.
  21. QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) I rarely post (obviously), but would like to let you know how much your hard work is appreciated. That said...Fulmer was drafted 8th overall. And his name is Dansby Swanson. I only mention this so it can be corrected and some numbnuts won't discount your efforts over minute details. Thanks - looks like these updates were made the day you posted this. And we do want to hear it if we make a mistake!
  22. Another week, another live visit. This time Rob Young was in Winston-Salem to see the playoff-bound Dash. He managed to get exclusive interviews with Carson Fulmer, Spencer Adams, Brian Clark, Matt Cooper, JR Perdew (pitching coach) and Eddy Alvarez. Read them all here. What are your impressions on these guys, after reading what they have to say?
  23. Recap posted. Fulmer and Clark make a filthy tandem starting pair. Great Falls still right in the thick of a playoff race.
  24. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 12:28 PM) My bad about the 2B/SS thing, I thought you were talking about 2B since Sanchez is currently playing there. As for the home runs, I guess I was including winter league. However I still don't know how you got 18 homers for Saladino in the minors in that span. 2013 in BHAM: 5 2014 in CHAR: 9 2015 in CHAR: 4 Total: 18
  25. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) Any chance Adams starts in AA next season? None. He's 19 with only one full year of pro ball under his belt, barely got to A+, and is still growing into his body. He's not the type you rush, and the Sox won't. This isn't Rodon or Sale.
