It's Opening Day, so prospects might not be first on your list of priorities. But while you wait for the game to begin, chew on this - Daniel (Quinarvy) posted about 20 new videos from his time down at Camelback, of prospects (including a handful of T25 names) and a few major leaguers. HD quality stuff, and you won't find these videos elsewhere. Heck you may not find video of half of these players at all, except on our channel. List of the prospects included and a link to the channel are here. This is great, exclusive stuff, so enjoy! We now have video of 50+ prospects on the channel, most still in the system. You can also subscribe to the channel on YouTube.

The official, Predict the 2015 White Sox record thread
NorthSideSox72 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
88-ish wins, tight finish, maybe a wild card berth. Division will black and blue each other, with four tams finishing close. Rodon comes up by late May and front 4 are great (as long as healthy), offense ends up very good. Bullpen is erratic though, and defense will still be an issue. -
If Flowers is really bad, they'll trade for someone, or go with whomever of Soto, Smith, Brantly or Nieto seems most likely to be better. And it is impossible to know right now which it would be.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 12:50 PM) Hey there, DeMichelle is still in camp! No. They pull a few guys from minor league camp for every game to get them a few AB's in a real game, but they are still in minor league camp. For example you may still see Hawkins play in an ST game. If you look at the stats, there are a dozen or more prospects and minor leaguers who have played in a game so far, that were never in big camp.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 06:31 PM) Might be a surprise candidate. After all there are more than just the pitchers listed still in camp. Maybe someone like Ascenio . Ascencio and Leon might be far outside dark horses, if things fall out just right/wrong.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) It certainly sounds like Sale pitching April 12 is a strong possibility now. In that case, Penny will probably be let go. Well yeah if Sale will be ready before they need another starter, then Penny probably goes away and Carroll is in AAA.

QUOTE (newbiesoxfan @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 01:21 PM) Newbie sox fan here. Just joined up. Became an instant sox fan when they selected my hometown boy Spencer Adams. You guys will love this kid. He is one focused individual while on the mound and one of the best kids I have been around off the mound. I still believe scouts have his control rated low and his slider a touch low. The slider is flat out nasty. Maybe not quite Rodon nasty, but nasty nontheless. Looking forward to following the Sox and Spencer this season. Plan on driving UP (lol) to Kannapolis a couple of times to watch Spence throw. Anyway, just wanted to chime in. newbiesoxfan Welcome aboard! We like Adams a lot. Lots of us do. He's Top 10 in the system, probably Top 5.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 03:56 PM) Penny has zero chance the make the roster. They'd have to add him to the 40 man, not gonna happen, even before today's performance. Look at his B-Ref page. The last time this guy was good Obama was in his first term. Clearly his chances are not zero, in fact they're pretty good to get that Sale slot for a start or two. At least as good as Carroll. That said, I'd prefer Carroll as well.

Germanwings (Lufthansa) plane crashes into Alps
NorthSideSox72 replied to LittleHurt05's topic in The Filibuster
Here's where I think this sort of thing leads... we already, right now, have the technology to fly these planes remotely. Takeoff to landing. I think we'll soon see the day when that becomes the norm - planes flown from the ground - with just one pilot on the plane as the emergency backup plan (as opposed to now, with two pilots, one as backup). -
Guessing Guerra and Albers. With one of Carroll or Penny taking the temporary Sale slot and then going down to Charlotte.

Final Spring Training Stock Report

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) Great summary, thanks. Is there any chance Beckham doesn't make the team? I personally prefer Sanchez (although I know a lot of people would prefer to see him get regular playing time). Sadly, it appears Beckham's contract is of the guaranteed MLB variety. So I don't see the team throwing away $2M. He may end up gone during the season if he's bad enough though. -
Final Spring Training Stock Report

QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) Can't seem to remember if you have done these the past few years of ST but these have been good pieces NSS. Thanks! We've had ST updates, but it wasn't a weekly thing, and this whole Stock Report format is new. -
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 11:37 AM) I still for the life of me do not see what good has ever coming from Twitter. Nothing. Twitter is actually pretty fantastic for some things, especially sports. A lot more good info out there than there are disasters like this.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 11:14 AM) When someone who is in sports media, publicly sexually objectifies a peer, you know it'll be a story. And it should be. This isn't a conversation between buddies at the bar. It's on Twitter to thousands of followers and potentially millions who could see it if it spreads. You're on a stage, just like on the radio, and yeah it is absolutely wrong he did that.

This will be the final stock report we put up for ST 2015 on FutureSox, since a week from now we'll basically know the 25-man roster (one would think). Stock Report: 6 players trending up, 4 down, and 10 gone Enjoy.

Germanwings (Lufthansa) plane crashes into Alps

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 08:57 AM) hmm..... ok. I wonder if there is some semi-auto pilot that has to be deactivated for rapid descents. It sounds like the only way for the door to stay locked out so that the other pilot can't even get in with a code, is for the person inside to manually put it into a special locking status. Also the descent would have to be intentional. Seems extremely unlikely both were done by accident. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 07:45 AM) This makes no sense to me. "One of our high level prospects had a great spring but he's too far away for a callup and there are several better options who would get called up first" "That just shows you how thin this team is" "What about the 'several other options wasn't clear?'" This. The Sox are really not thin on OF depth.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 07:50 AM) Apparently this wasn't all that rapid of a descent so it's plausible that cabin might not have known what was going on. They knew at some point, as it sounds like the other pilot was pounding on the door and possibly trying to knock through it. -
And Beck DID have a good slider in college, which seemed to disappear. So as I said, if he's got a good SL-CT of some kind (or separated) that he can really miss bats with, that dramatically changes my outlook on him.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) interesting, i never thought of it that way. i thought without a 3rd pitch, he would be in the pen. 'pen wouldn't help much in his case. Can't just be FB-CH there unless they are both special pitches.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) Beck isn't looking too bad. Just hit 95 on the stadium radar. He's got a sinking FB that can touch 95 as his main pitch, and a very good change up, but the lack of a real breaking pitch is an issue. Though it sure looked like he had a nice slider or cutter there. If that becomes a real pitch, I'll feel a lot better about him. Without it he's Charlie Shirek, maybe a little better.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) Help me out here, is Rodon like the Bryant situation that if we wait a couple weeks we gain another year of control? Yes.
-
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 06:08 PM) Zero is a very low number. If Melky breaks his leg tonight, there is some chance hawkins makes the opening day roster. OFs who'd be called up before Hawkins in that case: Thompson Mitchell Beltre possibly Marrero or Coats Then maybe Hawkins if he was crushing AA, but even then they'd probably go get someone first.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) Someone mentioned Hahn specifically said it wasn't an oblique, I had thought. That's what Rob reported, that it wasn't an oblique but some other "side thing".
