  1. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 23, 2015 -> 08:01 AM) Thanks, im going to keep on adding as more video becomes available and more prospects are added to the system. We've got a guy at ST this week who plans to take some fresh prospect videos, they'll be up on our channel once he has them. Feel free to use them.
  2. A few years back, they had been with a smaller agency. They did some more edgy stuff like Grinder Rules, then the South Side Board of Tourism. The Sox decided to go with a big name agency and went over to BBDO Chicago, one of the biggest. At the time I was psyched because I thought it meant a bigger marketing budget. But honestly, I now wish they were back with the smaller, edgier firm. I liked those previous campaigns. Most of the last few years, the ads have just fallen flat.
  3. TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW: You pay the "Face" value (first price listed), which is what we as STH pay. I just included the "Street" price (what they go for from the White Sox, second price listed) for comparison. In some cases I marked down the FACE value to be a discount from even our already-discounted price (those are in bold). Let me know if interested... 4. For first pick, gotta be BPA. As for later in the draft going for depth and/or roll-the-dice picks, the system is much stronger on pitching right now so that is less of a need. Need some catchers with starter ceiling/upside (even if high risk), and position players. But you don't start playing that game until later in the draft, like outside the top 10 usually.
  5. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 08:31 PM) It's going to be hard for him to walk much just because guys are going to attack him until he proves he can drive a MLB fastball. Same problem Flowers and Beckham have. Beckham actually has a solid outside zone swing % for his career but why would you nibble with Beckham? Hopefully Micah can prove he has some pop in his bat. He's got substantially more pop than Sanchez, for example. Micah's HR numbers the past couple years equal out to 8-10 for a full season. And I don't think he needs to prove he can HR off an MLB fastball anyway. He just needs to prove he can hit it effectively. If he just keeps spraying liners to left and center off that pitch, they'll start throwing him offspeed to get him to chase.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) UAB was just tougher. No doubt about that.
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) March, Thursday 19 2015 X The light has gone out of my life QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) UAB looks like they watched the two Baylor games on repeat. If you can get away with bullying ISU in the post and slowing down the tempo, you have a chance. This team could have went far but didn't deserve any better than it got. Yeah, once they started pounding inside and getting fouls against the Clones, that just made ISU tighten up and get timid. But that was only half of it. The other half, maybe even more than half, was just taking poorly set up shots.
  8. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) I'm glad to know that there have been reports of some good Soto defense. Re Hawkins, fwiw, in one of Law's recent stories, he said that while Hawkins looked good, a scout who has been following the Sox told him that he hasn't been challenged much with the curveball this spring. Might be true overall, but that first HR Hawkins hit in the spring was a hanger, not a fastball. FWIW. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) So where would John Danks stock be? QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) Unlisted and OTC> Pink sheets.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) I wonder how GarPax is going to spin replacing Thibs because they didn't advance in the playoffs enough, with a guy who coached a 3 seed that lost to a 14 seed in their tourney opener . Maybe this exit keeps Thibs on the Bulls sidelines and Hoiberg in Ames. Everyone except GarPax winds up happy. I'm not at all convinced Hoiberg leaves ISU. Especially while his kids are still young. I could be wrong, but I really don't think it's a done deal. In fact if I had to bet, I'd bet against him leaving.
  10. Hard to say if what happened was over the line or not. One thing I do think was interesting from the article, is that these cops were in streets with neck chain badges. I think we've gone too far that direction with police. If you are patrolling or responding to calls in a public area like that, you should be in full uniform.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) Wide open three, all you can ask for. UAB just destroyed them in the paint. Yup. UAB played hard physical basketball, ISU played weak and timid. And imprecise. Just an overall poor effort.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) No he didn't. All ball. Watch the replay. In any case, doesn't matter. ISU was terrible on offense, forget the foul issue. They deserved to lose. Dammit.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) Nowhere to go there Niang He also got hacked on the arm.
  14. The more I am now watching little bits, the more it looks like ISU is just not getting set well on their shots, and aren't getting enough rebounds so their not getting enough opps. The foul issue just exacerbates.
  15. At least I found a stream to watch online. Not sure I am happy to watch though, and it is well behind the game center, which is odd.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) UAB physically dominating ISU Yeah, ISU looking very tentative. I think the early foul issues are keeping them from being as physical. They also aren't setting up well on offense. Starting to get nervous here.
  17. I like how 11-seed Texas is favored by 2 against 6th seed Butler.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 12:28 PM) Well it wouldn't be a March ISU game without a first half deficit. Yeah that's my only solace. But they can't keep doing that. It might work in the first game or two, maybe, but eventually they'll get bitten.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) Just turned it on a few minutes ago as I was watching the ND game but it sounds like the ISU players are frustrated by the refs so take that as you wish. I'm more concerned about them getting frustated than I am about any actual reffing issues.
  20. Can't watch ISU-UAB game here, only see Gamecast. But somehow with 7:45 left in the first half, ISU has 7 fouls, vs just 1 for UAB. Not sure if they are hacking or getting hosed by the refs.
  21. QUOTE (staxx @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 10:42 AM) Great article again. I don't know if I'd go to say that Rodon's stock is "down" but more in-line with what should be expected from a player at his current status. But he is down from his extremely high perch that he was on after his first start. That's why I was clear to say his PROSPECT stock is NOT down. The article is about chances to make the Opening Day roster, and his chances at that have definitely diminished (though it was at best a 50/50 thing anyway, probably less).
  22. A quick look at those who aren't contractually guaranteed a 25-man spot have been doing in the past week, whose stocks are up and down, and who is now out of camp. Article here.
  23. QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 09:02 AM) I'm just saying that I need proof positive from a guy before he jumps to the majors. At the very peak of his performance in AAA he had a 109 wRC+ and a 4.7 BB%. I don't need Kris Bryant, 43 homers, this-guy-kills type numbers. But I need a little bit more than that, especially with some of the other lines guys were putting up in that ballpark. I particularly want to see the walk rate come along as it's one of the things that makes Micah so exciting. And I know people will say that Sanchez wasn't lighting it up when he was promoted, so I'll point out that the circumstances were obviously different. Not every prospect lights up AAA before going to the majors. Some even skip it entirely. I do agree that the walk rate is something he'll need to keep up, but to be clear, he's hovered around 8% the past couple years.
  24. Funny this came up - Scot Gregor of the Daily Herald did a piece for Baseball America that just went up today, talking about Anderson's comeback attempt. It's behind a paywall, but here is the link.
