danman31 wrote up this one, looking at our A+ team The Dash. Six T30 names on that roster! Who are you looking forward to watching?

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) Quick question, Matt Heidenreich, didn't we trade him to the Astros for Brett Myers? Yes. Now we re-signed him to a MiLB deal.
-
Our recaps are also starting today! We'll post the link here when its up, and on Twitter and FB of course. The recap team is now primarily three people, for those who care: Rob (southside hitman), Daniel (Quinarvy) and Will (wsiskel), with occasional jump-in posts by Dan (danman31), Brian (raBBit) and I.

2015 team: gave up 10 and 7 runs in first two games, lost both. 2008 team: gave up 10 and 7 runs in first two games, lost both. Not sayin', just sayin'. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) To me he hasnt really been all that good since he went on the DL last season. When he came off the DL he was hittable, that splitter just doesnt dance around as much. And what scares me, I've said for a while, is there is a real lack of relief pitching depth in AAA. That Charlotte pen is a whole lot of question marks - there is talent, but all of either the "has never really put it together" or "rehabbing trying to get back to majors late in career" variety. There are some legitimate prospect arms in AA, but none are likely to be called up anytime soon.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 02:03 AM) I really do appreciate what you guys said about it being difficult to shoot a guy in the leg or in the hand. I guess I expect too much when life and death is on the line and if the officer thinks his life is in jeopardy obviously he wants to shoot to kill lest his wife be a widow and kids not have a dad. Maybe they could work on it a bit at officer camp on running targets and tell the officers that not all situations are alike. Some situations are obviously not life threatening to the officer like this one. This one is just so ridiculous. I'm glad he got charged with murder. Anybody know if he bailed out? Seriously, forget this shoot-the-leg angle. First, in this case, it was just plain murder. Second, it isn't about training. All the training in the world won't make people that reliably accurate with a pistol in that scenario - you're trying to fit an elephant through the head of a pin. Third the courts see any shot as deadly force anyway, so no matter what, you can't shoot unless you are justified in that level of force.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) Tago is on Kanny. Sorry yeah, forget that one, haha
-
My biggest surprises who weren't assigned to a full season team (could be hurt, could be going to Rk, who knows): Ben Brewster Terance Marin Aaron Bummer Tanner Banks Peter Tago John Ziznewski Zach Thompson There are others too, but those stuck out. All but one are pitchers, they really seemed to just run out of room.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 09:14 AM) Erik Johnson is active. Brantly to the DL. So, is Johnson starting now? Should supplant Haviland, but maybe not right away. Johnson didn't get to pitch much in March, he may start in the pen to stretch out.
-
Josh Feldman says Kanny going with a 6-man rotation! The front four are Guerrero, Adams, Peralta, Lowry. Said to ask him later who the other two are (my guess is Martinez and Trexler).
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 08:47 AM) I have the Kanny rotation as Guerrero, Adams, Martinez, Lowry, and Almonte. Thoughts? I see 8 starters, so I can't tell. Those 5 you list, plus Peralta, Valerio, Trexler. Guerrero is a starter. I'd bet money on Adams, Martinez and Trexler. That leaves one slot for Peralta, Valerio and Almonte. It is possible they might do a tandem thing like they did last year, maybe with say Adams and Martinez to protect their arms.
-
And Zach Fish going back to catching from the outfield.
-
Ha! Jacob Morris has converted from OF to P. Interesting. Joins Brad Salgado in that pen among players who converted from position to pitcher while with Sox.
-
And the last piece - Kanny's roster is up here. Guerrero is the OD starter, FYI.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 10:08 PM) This irks me. They both should be starting. I'm a little surprised Heidenreich gets a slot, and I thought Robin Leyer would be in the pen (he's been a 2-pitch pitcher at best, unless something has changed). But then I didn't watch these guys all spring either, maybe they know something we don't. It's odd though, the Sox seemed to say good things on both Clark and Wheeler. It's certainly possible one or both slide into the rotation during the year.
-
W-S announced their rotation: Dykstra, Fry, Leyer, Bucciferro, Heidenreich That means Wheeler and Clark both to the pen, which surprises me a bit. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 05:35 PM) Also, where is Ben Brewster, Tyler Barnette, and David Trexler? Also, looks like Andrew Mitchell is repeating A ball. Trexler should be starting for Kanny. Brewster and Mitchell in their pen I'd think. Barnette not sure, marginal guy.
-
That would leave the following players unassigned, some of whom are prospects and some not: True prospects (in my view)... RHP Spencer Adams (likely back to rookie ball, they said they'd take it easy with him) OF Micker Adolfo (no surprise, should be in rookie ball) RHP Zach Thompson (seems should be ready for A ball, just nowhere to put him) RHP Matt Ball RHP Peter Tago (command issues) RHP Terance Marin (should have been AA, maybe he's hurt?) INF Jake Jarvis (rookie ball most likely) OF Antonio Rodriguez (could be in A ball, hard to say vs the 4 I put in there) RHP Victor Done (could use more rookie ball time) Marginal guys... OF Louis Silverio RHP Yelmison Peralta RHP Evin Einhardt RHP Lucas Shearrow RHP Tyler Barnette RHP Josh Goosen-Brown LHP Mike Gomez OF Michael Danner (could be in Kanny) OF Jacob Morris (could be in Kanny too) INF Christian Stringer INF Juan Silverio (could be the BHAM 3B) INF Nick Delmonico (could be the BHAM 3B) RHP Matt Cooper RHP Kelvis Valerio INF Ethan Gross LHP Devon Davis RHP Brad Salgado Org guys... C Ryan Plourde INF Audry Santana INF Victor Velazquez C Zach Fisher RHP Brett Bruening OF Nolan Earley 1B Tyler Williams And then a bunch of the younger LatAm guys for rookie ball of course.
-
So Brett Austin is repeating A ball. Also, this makes things intriguing for Kanny, because there will be some key names left off the full season teams no matter what. And where the heck is Terance Marin? I'll have to check in with him and see what the story is. My best guesses on Kanny's roster, now that the other three are essentially in place (and assuming they go 13 pitchers like the two teams above them)... C Brett Austin 1B Ryan Jones 2B Ryan Leonards SS Eddy Alvarez 3B John Ziznewski OF Louie Lechich OF Zach Fish OF Michael Suiter DH Mason Robbins B1 Sean O'Connell © B2 Toby Thomas B3 James Baldwin III SP Jordan Guerrero* SP Chris Freudenberg SP Thaddius Lowry SP Luis Martinez SP David Trexler SP/RP? Aaron Bummer* RP Tanner Banks* RP Ben Brewster* RP Andrew Mitchell RP Tanner Mendonca RP Connor Walsh RP Yency Almonte RP Brannon Easterling

And here is the preview of the AA club, the Birmingham Barons, featuring 7 of the Top 30 prospects in the system. This has one roster spot question mark, which will be added later. But it's ready for all other purposes.
-
This also means the only legit possibilities for BHAM's last slot are Delmonico or Silverio. I think.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 03:09 PM) Yikes, not a lot of offense there I disagree on the offense. Narvaez can hit quite well and is repeating the level, Barnum should grow into some power, Michalczewski, Peter has a nice feel for hitting, Engel has lots of potential, and Jacobs can pound that level. Really only Walker looks like a hole. Should actually be a pretty strong lineup. Heck even Jirschele is an unusally good hitter for a minor league bench guy. A few arms to watch too. Hard to guess the rotation for sure, but my dart throw says Fry-Clark-Dykstra-Wheeler-Bucciferro, with possibly Brennan or Heidenreich later. That should actually be a darn good CAR-level rotation, performance-wise. And Fry, Clark and Wheeler are legitimate prospects.

And here it is!

Winston-Salem tells me their roster will be up any minute now.

QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 01:45 PM) you haven't seen anything, these guys have a newsletter of some sort, i may not be using the right english to describe it. the one admin runs it, Northside something or another. others just post other articles. any questions, they usually answer with several hours. great and prof job done by the admins. fyi.... i was really surprise that Spencer was there at the 2nd rnd, i had him pegged in the late 1 rnd, the sox got a steal. can you provide a little insight info..... i have him as a low #1 solid #2 sp in the rotation. has the scouts mention what his upside may be??? It's a blog, called Future Sox. Its at futuresox.com. There's a ton of content on there - see the About Us page for details. Lots more there than here in fact, but this sub-forum on SoxTalk sort of functions as the discussion area for the blog.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 01:45 PM) If I remember correctly, he was also playing a little bit of LF and RF a little bit down at WS. Correct.

There was a discussion in the game thread about starters. The average MLB team uses 10 starters in a season, as the Sox did last year, per Jeff. So, other than the CURRENT five, who are your guesses for the other 5-ish who will MAKE A START? I've added a poll too, but here are some names to consider (in order of most likely, IMO)... Carlos Rodon Scott Carroll Chris Beck Erik Johnson Brad Penny Mike Recchia Frank Montas Eric Surkamp Onelki Garcia Tyler Danish Montas and Danish are pushing it a bit given their development curve, but hey I could fit 10 in the poll, haha.
