  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) Is WS in a playoff run? QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) Yes Except in this case, literally every Sox affiliate other than AZL is in the hunt for a 2nd half playoff spot. So I don't think that's why it happened in this case. In fact, Great Falls already clinched a spot.
  2. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 03:03 PM) I know Eric Johnson has graduated, but I was wondering where in the top 25 you all thought he would rank if he was still eligible after this season. Particularly in relationship to Adams/Montas/Danish. Thanks Below Adams, above the other two, for me. But honestly, he's such a weird case, I'm glad I didn't have to think about it.
  3. Skipping Kanny, wow. He was ready for a promotion, but moving a 21 year old 7th rounder to A+ from Pioneer play is awfully aggressive.
  4. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 12:11 PM) I think Bassitt not in the top 25 is a big miss, he's a bit old, but has excelled in every level he has pitched. He has a strong chance of cracking the rotation next year, if not end up in the bullpen. If Rondon is 14 based on floor alone, Bassitt should be much higher as well. I personally also think Bassitt has a higher ceiling/floor than Snodgress, and he's 20. And where do you guys see Martinez rank? He's one name that could really sky rocket next year. I personally felt Bassitt and Recchia belonged in the T25 (had them both in the 20-25 range on my list), but I wouldn't call either a "big miss". They, Dykstra, and those others are all pretty close in value. One thing this discussion does speak to, that the voters all agreed on, is that there is more depth in the 20-30, and heck even 30-40 range in this system than there has been in a long time. Those aren't going to be big time prospects of course, but there were a lot of guys in that range that have a shot at contributing. Martinez got some love from a few voters, you'll see him on the "just missed" list when we release the full list Thursday.
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) I wouldn't rank Rondon at all. Why? I personally had him a little lower than the 14 he was at, still Top 20. The bat is a pretty big question mark, but the guy's also very young.
  6. Dykstra was one of a handful of pitchers right around the 25 mark - Bassitt and Recchia were there and just missed. Guerrero just eked past Dysktra. Olacio was close too. Hard to say who is best of those 5, really. Wendelken was discussed too, but fell a bit short.
  7. The thread is pinned in PHT. Just wanted to put a pointer here for it. Discussion is over there.
  8. Twice a year, FutureSox publishes a list of the top prospects in the White Sox system. We release in two parts - first the 11-25 list, then the 1-10 and full list (including players who just missed). The list is created via a voting system - this time we had 6 voters (danman31, Ozzie Ball, Chisoxfn, Balta1701, witesoxfan and myself). The Midseason 11-25 list is now up. Let's have some discussion. What do you think of this list? Anyone who you think should have made it but didn't? Anyone too high? Who's your Top 10 (which we will release Thursday)? FULL TOP 25 LIST NOW OUT - Here it is
  9. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 08:30 PM) You are either kidding or retarded. Not really necessary. And I don't think that post was far off either, Thompson had barely gotten his feet wet.
  10. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) Lucky those were in the past 10 minutes or so because there's a role-playing account on Twitter called Spencer Adams and any time I look for anything on the pitcher I have to scroll through about 813 messages from some fat old dude to some other fat old dude role-playing as his wife. lol wut?
  11. Here's the write-up on the Prospects of the Month for July. Hitter was easy, pitcher was very tough, could have been any one of 3 or 4 guys. Thoughts?
  12. Recap posted QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 01:08 AM) Yes, ankle.. Probably said on the 1st or 2nd page of this thread Reporter there said it was his back, not ankle. Hm.
  13. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 12:46 PM) Avi should be playing tonight!! And Lindstrom to pitch.
  14. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) Likely will be a pitcher. Usually the case when replacing one. But I get the impression there may be other moves too.
  15. Flurry of roster moves... --Scott Snodgress to AAA --Tony Bucciferro, Jefferson Olacio, Nelvin Fuentes to AA --Brandon Brennan, Brandon Hardin to A+ --Nick McCully released Kanny at 24 on the roster now. Have to think Jake Peter or Zach Fish may be headed up at some point soon, if not both.
  16. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 12:42 PM) I don't post much, especially in the FutureSox area...but just wanted to give everyone a kudos for their work in the FutureSox area. I love reading about what all of the prospects are up to and how they are progressing. Keep up the great work everyone! QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 12:51 PM) Agreed. Rarely post, but read daily. Thanks to all who contribute! Thanks to you both!
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 10:47 AM) Has anyone seen Davidson's splits with 2 out and RISP? He is 8 for 81 (.099) with something like a .311 OPS. He is messed up. Definition of pressing.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 10:21 AM) Looks like Vance, Earley, and Farrell have been suspended for the fight last week. Ravelo and Richmond also got hit with suspensions. Likely not all will serve at the same time of course.
  19. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 08:59 AM) Thanks. I'd really like to see the Hound treated aggressively to make up for a little of the lost time. I still think he has the tools to be an effective long reliever/spot starter type, and possibly as early as June or so of next year. Prior to his still unknown "non-baseball injury" (something embarrassing perhaps?), I thought he might be a candidate for such a role right about now. Control is the occasional bugaboo, and I'd like to see him get with Coop ASAP. He had a broken hand, but he told me it was "not baseball-related" and "minor". My instinct was, there may have been something embarrassing behind that, but he didn't want to get into it. And I didn't want to push it.
  20. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 09:55 PM) Good for each of. Well done, sir.
  21. Dykstra was a higher draft pick, but he signed for 20th round kinda money. He was a signability senior. Funny that now he's doing so well, and he certainly is. But I can't put Dykstra over Bassitt right now.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 12:33 PM) Rodon's game tomorrow is a day game. 11 am central Is it officially his game? Haven't seen it announced yet.
  23. Oh and, keep in mind that for our list, anyone who reaches rookie eligibility in MLB is no longer considered a "prospect" for our purposes. So Semien, EJohnson and Phegley, for example, are not eligible.
  24. List is under construction now, being written up. Hoping to put it out there the week of August 4th, split into two as usual (11-25, then 1-10 and full list). FYI, the way we do it, every voter submits a Top 30, and we do a voting/points system similar to college football polls. The voters this time around, in case you are curious, are danman31, Ozzie Ball, Chisoxfn, witesoxfan, Balta1701 and NorthSideSox72. So, if YOU folks (not including the 6 official FS voters) were making a Top 30 list, who would it be?
