Soon. I think there was a desire to possibly wait til after the trade deadline with the moves that are sure to be made.

Prediction:

Rodon

Anderson

M. Johnson

Hawkins

Montas

Davidson

Danish

Ravelo

Michelzewski

Adams

Not bad

That's the current discussion, yes. We'll get the wheels moving pretty soon, but not finalize the list and publish until just after the 7/31 deadline. This year in particular, there is a strong chance the Sox will acquire prospects in a trade or two.

Are you not counting Semien and Erik Johnson as prospects or did they just not crack your top 10?

We (FutureSox) follow the same guidelines as BA does on their lists: players are prospects until the attain MLB rookie status levels (a combination of games played, time on roster, AB/IP and the like). Semien, Johnson, Abreu of course, and a few others have "graduated" from our offseason list for this reason and are not prospects in that proper sense.

a vote for Jacob May at the bottom of the top 10.

Come on, that's ridiculous. He's hot lately, but that doesn't mean we can conveniently forget his poor two months to start the season. He's 22 in high-A with a .729 OPS. I would argue that's not a very good season and his stock should still fall from where it was before the season. If he stays hot the rest of the year you can say he's maybe inside the top 20 or 15, but top 10? No way.

1. Carlos Rodon

2. Tim Anderson

3. Micah Johnson

4. Courtney Hawkins

5. Matt Davidson

6. Tyler Danish

10. Chris Beck

11. Trey Michalczewski

12. Rangel Ravelo

13. Spencer Adams

14. Jacob May

15. Jeffery Wendelken

16. Keon Barnum

17. James Dykstra

18. Micker Adolfo

19. Jason Coats

20. Adam Engel

21. Cleuluis Rondon

22. Tyler Saladino

23. Robinson Leyer

24. Brett Austin

25. Jordan Guerrero

May and Ravelo have to be close to making that Top 10, especially Ravelo.

Trey M. should be on the move up the board as well.

Last time out I felt we had a bunch of guys at the top who were clearly there but we were weak in the range around 10. It seems like this time I'm going to have a ton of trouble figuring out that range around 5-15.

Especially someone like Montas, who, in many respects, might be our best pitching prospect after Rodon when he comes back from his knee surgery. Then again, nobody knows the effects his surgery will have on him...although it's not a major reconstruction.

Beck and Thompson would seem to be the ones going backward the most at the moment.

Finally, it will be really hard to place Anderson at the end of the year, especially if he does poorly in the Arizona Fall League. There will be lots of concerns that it will take him until at least the second half of 2015 to be the same player he was before the injury.

Agree with the majority of the list, well done, however Spencer Adams must be Top 10 I'd assume, has a 1st round grade, total steal, one would assume Jace Fry is also top 15ish

Based on potential, yes. But until he starts putting up those numbers at Kanny, it's a bit like Micker Adolfo.

It's nice to be able to say an Adams doesn't automatically join the Top 10, fwiw. There's finally some depth. For a comparison, Beck has always been talked about like he SHOULD have been drafted in the first round, and that's gotten him the benefit of the doubt without the results to really back it up 100%.

But Adams needs to turn that potential into good results next year in Kanny before he's a definite Top 10 inclusion.

And Fry doesn't have dominating stuff, so he's going to have to prove himself at every level, ala Mark Buehrle...albeit quite different initial draft positions, obviously.

Luis Martinez is looking pretty good in AZL ball, strikeout machine and the first signing by Marco Paddy

Just for the hell of it because I follow Kanny a lot and see them play a good amount, who can we expect in Kanny next year? some names or a roster projection would be nice

Just out of interest, if the Sox had been picking in the 22-25 range and took Spencer Adams, which is around where he was expected to go, who here wouldn't have him in their top 10? Or top 5 even?

I haven't done my updated list yet but he will slot somewhere into my top 10.

We have a ton of minor league experts who I'm sure could project at least 15-20 of those guys.

Fry's a possibility to start there...although they might be more aggressive and put him in Winston-Salem as a collegiate pitcher. About half of that roster's going to come from this year's June draft, with quite a few from the DSL, AZL, Great Falls.

Ayala, the catcher...whose name has been talked about a lot the last couple of years, he SHOULD be there.

Glad you pointed this out, I was thinking the same thing.

If he was drafted in the first round in that position, he'd probably get the benefit of the doubt to be 7-10, but not Top 5-6.

To be honest, I was going to put May at #10 on my list earlier this year, despite struggling horribly at the time. The fact is the kid has a great set of tools, amongst the best in the system. He definitely deserves top 10 consideration IMO.

major major long shot, haha, believe it or not his 19 year old ass was released, it's a shame I wanted to see him but looks like he may attend school now, baseball didn't work out

Well I'll be damned. That's mildly depressing. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...&pid=622049.

These lists, though, are the opposite. As others have said, we actually have some quality depth for the first time in years to go along with the lottery tickets at the top. It speaks volumes to have kids like Michalczewski, May (who's just getting his feet underneath him and hasn't had a break in, what, two years?), Barnum, Ravelo, Cleuluis, Saladino, and Adolfo battling it out for spots at the end of the top 10 or even 10-20 range.
