  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 12:51 PM) Oh, ok. Sorry. I was wondering why Sanchez was batting 8th. Nevermind. Still, it would be nice to get this on one page. Nothing to be sorry about, just pointing it out for informational purposes. FS will probably publish a big board like that soon.
  2. Also some misspelled player names. Marin not shown in rotation. A few other things. Are you affiliated with that site in some way?
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 12:37 PM) For your easy viewing pleasure. http://www.milbscoop.com/chicago-white-sox.html Some inaccuracies in there. I'm sure Saladino will not be on the bench, for example. And the lower part of the page, those notes are off - players on full season teams now. Stuff like that.
  4. And finally, Charlotte. Apparently the way they are addressing the crowding issue is to make liberal use of the Disabled List. The DL to open the season includes: Leesman, Reckling, Remenowsky, S Rodriguez, Espino, L Anderson, Bell and Tekotte. Yikes. Also a few new names on there, meaning new to the org. And... Gartrell is NOT there.
  5. We're back! Charlotte @ Gwinnett PPD B-Ham @ Montgomery Nestor Molina starting Kannapolis @ Lakewood Myles Jaye starting
  6. Birmingham Preview. 30 year old Wes Whisler is back.
  7. Confirmed on Marin - he's in the Dash rotation. Well done sir!
  8. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 03:14 PM) Wilkins may play 3B. Interesting thought. He did play 5 games there last year, and 43 in 2010.
  9. OK, here is the actual roster. A few surprises to me. In addition to Wilkins, who is behind a crowd as wite mentioned... Short is back in AA, crowded out also apparently. Kussmaul back in AA too. All three of those guys should be playing at AAA, ideally, and probably will as the season goes on if all goes well for them.
  10. B-Ham announces, though their actual roster page on MiLB.com is not updated. So no FULL roster to look at yet. One surprise, to me - Wilkins repeating AA.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 09:35 AM) Actually, it was started on Opening Day. Still, considering the level of activity on the board, 20-30 posts a day in there really isn't that big of a deal. Sure OK. Whatever the level is, it is tiny compared to the rest of the forum, let alone the whole board. The idea that it kills discussion is kinda hilarious. If someone sees a topic in catch-all that they think warrants a thread - start one. If we as Mods/Admins see a deeper discussion happening in catch all, we can split it out. Easy-peasy lemon squeezie.
  12. Kills discussion? There are like 60 posts in there for 3+ months of time, versus thousands in the rest of PHT during that time. It doesn't kill anything. Drama much?
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 10:32 PM) You need to get over the Shoemaker thing. He's on the DL. Maybe they just want to give him a few weeks to get back in the swing of things at Winston-Salem and then move him up. Maybe he never plays for Winston-Salem at all. I only use Shoemaker as an illustration. There are a few other players in similar (not identical) veins, as discussed above. And I do think it is a worthwhile discussion to have - how the Sox handle the fringe guys who perform well. If he was going to be in B-Ham, I'd think he'd be on their DL - but maybe there is some reasoning there, you certainly could be right. Maybe intended for a short stint there to get acclimated like you said.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 05:10 PM) Absolutely disgusting how old most of the guys on our A ball teams are. Seems like we'll have a lot more age appropriate players at AA & AAA than A to start the season. It does seem odd to me, some of the older guys not being pushed. Shoemaker in W-S? Haddow? Smith? I personally think all three have talent, and have a shot at being something of value maybe. But with guys like that, fringey prospects too old for level, I really believe you need to push them up and see what happens.
  15. Winston-Salem. B-Ham and Charlotte to come as the week goes on.
  16. Kanny went up yesterday. We'll post more here as they go up on FS.
  17. Per BA, Sox draft pool for 2013 is $5,301,600 for 10 picks. Max is over $10M for Astros, lowest number is $2M and change. Teams have anywhere from 9 ot 12 picks covered.
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 09:24 AM) W-S: http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=2...80&sid=t580 Kanny: http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=2...87&sid=t487 Brady Shoemaker is not only at Winston-Salem again (which is a surprise, I figured him for B-Ham), but he is also starting the season on the DL. Also interesting to see Beck in W-S, skipping A ball. Where is Kyle Hansen?
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 08:10 AM) Winston-Salem's roster should be out sometime this morning per their Twitter feed. I just took a peek, looks like it is still not updated. They will probably tweet it out when it is complete.
  20. For the first time since 2003, I will not be at Opening Day. Sad. Still though... GO YOU WHITE SOX!!! The Royals' rotation behind Shields is a joke. If they win today, they should win the series pretty easily.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:24 AM) I'd keep an eye on Jason Coats too. He was projected to be drafted in the top 10 rounds prior to tearing his ACL. Worth watching. Agreed, forgot about him but you are right. Definitely worth watching.
  22. Also worth noting... no Eric Grabe. I'm guessing they have re-started Ravelo at A- because of his missed time, but that they plan to move him up to W-S pretty quickly (not much 3B depth ahead of him in the system anyway), leaving room for Grabe. Just my guess.
  23. QUOTE (floridafan @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 08:34 PM) He looked very good at ST and seemed to spend most of his time at 1st Base. Hit the ball well and looked good! 1B? That's interesting. If he slides to 1B, he'd better develop some power. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 31, 2013 -> 10:10 PM) I'm too lazy to give the links, but according to their own twitter posts Mitchell to AAA, Walker to AA, Hawkins to high-A. Also looks like Kanny's roster has been posted. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t...ue&sid=t487 QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 07:47 AM) That is not the roster for opening day. That is just a wintertime roster, read the words at the bottom of the roster Please note these rosters are for off-season purposes and do not necessarily reflect actual Opening Day rosters. Players will be assigned to Minor League teams at the conclusion of Spring Training. Kanny just tweeted that link as the correct roster - that is the one. If it was the winter one, it wouldn't have Brennan, the Johnsons, etc. A few head-scratchers on that roster... --Who is playing 1B? Ravelo sliding over, or Zac Fisher? --Buddy Bell had said the Brennan-Beck-Hansen group would move together... apparently not. Beck is at A+, Brennan at A-, not sure where Hansen is. --Offensively, that is not a real strong unit. Ravelo, Micah Johnson are the only two guys probably worth watching. Maybe Kiser. --On the pitching side though, some fun names. Olacio, Brennan, Leyer, Hardin, Kibby, Jaye and Gunter all worth keeping an eye on. Looks like the rotation will be Brennan, Olacio, Kibby, Jaye and Leyer. Although there is that rumor about Lopez as well.
  24. QUOTE (seanjon21 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 04:44 PM) NorthSider Here some info for you . Juan Silverio to Reds. Not surprised he's gone. Wasn't much of a prospect anymore anyway, and the connection with Wilder didn't help.
  25. QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 07:50 AM) Has anyone heard anything on 3B Ravelo? Did he fix whatever problems he had last year? Ravelo left the club in early July last year, for personal reasons. I've seen/heard rumors about what it is, but nothing substantiated, or that I'd air out. But he is indeed back in camp this spring, and is definitely still a guy to keep an eye on. He's missed a half season of development, but he was pretty young to begin with, so that's not a death nail or anything.
