  1. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) Did you just quote Last Action Hero? Thank you.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 03:48 PM) Its 180, you spaghetti slurping cretin. 180!!! If I did a 360 I'd go all the way round and end up back where I started!!! Huh? Trust me. *BLAM* I can't believe no one recognized my quote.
  3. Who hit the Buster with the berzerker stick the last couple days?
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) yeah i realized that after i hit send. was thinking of basketball slam dunk adjectives and didn't realize the implication of the 360. duh Its 180, you spaghetti slurping cretin. 180!!! If I did a 360 I'd go all the way round and end up back where I started!!! Huh? Trust me. *BLAM*
  5. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 02:54 PM) i have to believe macdougal just pitched his way off the team...not sure who they will bring up...broadway?? poreda? egbert? russell? I'd be OK with any of those other than Poreda, who I want to see focus on development. I'd also be OK with Wassermann or Link.
  6. QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 02:49 PM) Macdougal is going for the league lead in overall sucktitude to be more precise. Never have I see a pitcher with such talent be so ineffective for so long as this guy. Its like listening to music by Rush - such great musical talent, such irritating results.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) I would have said this before you but I actually checked and the numbers just don't agree with you. Relative to every other standard of spending (compared to the GDP, compared to discretionary spending, etc.) the share going to the military slowly decreased year over year during the Clinton administration. I'm sure it went up in total dollars, but relative to inflation I doubt it did. It started going back up in 2001. The plans for doing so were taking shape under Bush I, as I recall, but went into overdrive under Clinton.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 02:19 PM) So if I go back and find the Republican quotes about how we need to depart from Somalia while those brave Democrats wanted to stay the course, does that make them equally weak on defense? Somalia was done really badly though, and I don't think the Dems were being "tough" by staying - they were creating the illusion of tough while accomplishing nothing and jeopardizing the lives of soldiers. Kind of like Bush/GOP (and some Dems) and Iraq, but on a smaller scale.
  9. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) Remind me again how MMac conned his way onto this team this year?? Last year of his expensive contract, and he does have dominant stuff when he can locate it. We all wondered which MMac we'd get this season - the one from 2006 when he was good, or the one from 2007 and 2008 when he wasn't. Spring Training, he looked 2006. Now, he looks 2007. Again. I'd rather have Egbert or Wassermann up here, as I've said all along, but we'll see. It is still early, maybe MMac figures it out.
  10. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 01:51 PM) I am never flying United again after the 1 experience I had with them, delayed both ways on my first trip to Chicago, with no customer service at all. But as for what they're doing, I don't see a major issue with it. United is awful. I avoid them at all costs.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) I'd ask for evidence but I realize your evidence is in your gut and hollow cranium. Not OK. Keep it civil, please.
  12. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:14 AM) Airtran does. Really? Interesting. I think they only fly to a few places direct from Midway though - ATL, MSP, maybe one or two others. But now that I don't travel regularly and will be slowly losing all my elite statuses with AA and others, I'll be just choosing the best deal, so I may have to keep them in mind.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) Would you be shocked to know Javy Vazquez pitched around Gload last night to load the bases for the superior Dan Uggla, and Uggla had a 2 out 2 RBI single? No, because Gload is awesome. Also, Javy tends to sissy the strike zone until he's in trouble.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:39 AM) It's close. Owens gets horrific reads, but Pods reads aren't much better. I'd say it's a draw because of how Pods like to prance around all the time. I think Owens gets better reads than he is given credit for. During his time in 2007, he improved noticeably during the season in that regard.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) All that's missing is Erstad. I'm sure he's available. He's playing first. We also re-acquired Mack for 3B, Ozuna for SS, Andy Gonzalez for 2B, Chris Widger to catch and Ross Gload as the DH. Pods, LF Owens, RF Mackowiak, 3B Erstad, 1B Anderson, CF Gload, DH Gonzalez, 2B Widger, C Ozuna, SS Love it.
  16. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) so are they skipping Danks for a week?? No, Danks goes tomorrow. Somewhere in PHT someone linked the article in the Trib that showed the rotation re-scramble details.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) In the newspaper, they said Getz was supposed to be ready to go today...guess not. a penny says he appears in the game later as a PH or something.
  18. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) Who has a stronger arm, Pods or Owens? It's a close one, but I give the nod to Pods. I'd agree. But Owens is a better outfielder in every other aspect, I believe. Not by a lot though, and honestly, we're comparing two not very good outfielders here anyway.
  19. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) Is Contreras pitching or Danks? JC
  20. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) IIRC when the scandal broke, Obama had just delivered his DNC speech? Or was it right before? I don't recall now, though I do recall some articles since that point out the latest information had Obama with a lead (not a huge one) over Ryan just before the scandal broke.
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) Anyone have the lineups yet? BA, batting 9th i assume? We're going with an outfield of Owens, Anderson and Pods. Just for the grinderificness of it all.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:27 AM) I don't even know where that comes from, it's such a lame ass stereotype. Other than something I posted about 2 or 3 weeks ago about Obama trying some weak ass budget-cutting measure for charging combat injuries to vets' private health insurance, I can't think of anything Obama's done to give him this "anti-military" image. He mostly does all the same things Bush did for the military, except support the actual war. Anti-war =/= anti-military. Well said.
  23. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:27 AM) Its also kind of ridiculous to assume a guy who won the presidency couldn't outcampaign Jack f***ing Ryan. I wouldn't call it ridiculous - every politician starts somewhere, learns, improves his approach and network. Obama was a lot greener then, and Ryan had money, smarts and connections. But the premise that Ryan somehow had it in hand is just patently false.
  24. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 10:22 AM) I'm sure if it were that easy for them to make more money, they'd have done it by now. One of the airlines, big or small would have tried it by now...but the fact that the entire industry, including profitable airlines like Southwest, haven't done it means it probably won't increase revenue or profits. Possibly, but, the airlines are running in fear mode right now and not trying new stuff. Don't want to take the chance. Also, SW is single class of service and would never do something like this in any case.
