  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) HE'S NO ROGER CLEMENS! and garland , buehrle, garcia are?
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) man, don't be so hard, he is getting the other .500 out!!!!
  3. QUOTE(beck72 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) In the 3 hole now? No. But on Aug. 30th, Carl's line was .269/.323/.475. Now it's down to .247/.307/.434. Even with his slump, Carl is #2 on the sox with RISP and RISP w/ 2 outs. Only Rowand has hit better than Carl in both categories. With the game on the line and hitting in key situations, Carl has come through this year. While he's wrong and Ozzie has every right to move guys around anytime he wants, I can see where Carl's frustrations are coming from. thats true , meaning this is a good move moving him in the lineup b'cuz the 5-9th hitters leave a lot of men on base. So if what ur saying is true dont u think hes gonna get an opportunity to have ppl on base when hes up ?
  4. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) sub 250 average? in the 3 hole. no, that shouldn't happen on any team. couldn't have said it better myself.
  5. QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) Whether anyone like Konerko or not, he is one hell of a first baseman. Tell me another first baseman who is better than Paul in next year market. Losing Konerko will hurt us a lot. Bring him back! However, if we somehow can trade for Overbay, then I don't mind losing Konerko at all. The Chicago White Sox will be in the playoff again next year. You know why? Starting Pitchers: Contreras, Buehrle, Garland, Garcia and McCarthy. That is one awesome lineup to hit against. If we add another good DH bat, we will be wonderful! what makes u think the sox r gonna be in the playoffs this year. but yea ur right, if we add a GOOD DH bat we would be good but not wonderful
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) Yea, I would rather Frank back. Then again, I'm a big Frank fan, and always have been. With the power numbers he put up in the few games he was back, I'd like to see him back. He's also much MUCH cheaper than Griffey. i agree, im not sure if i would bring him back if i were GM but Frank will give u someone in the lineup that intimidates pitchers(which is why he gets a lot of walks) but 10 Million for someone that is in his last stage of his career. I dont know
  7. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) If the Sox don't re-sign Pauly in the offseason- than i expect KW to pull some sort of trade to get someone with some power. I'm hearing a lot of Overbay lately. One other option- is to have Dye play 1B and move Brian Anderson to RF. I know that doesn't solve our lack of power problem- BUT i think Anderson can make a nice impact in his first full season. I also don't expect Crede back next season. KW will probably search for a solid defensive 3B w/ some power via trade. How about Blalock? Texas NEEDS pitching of all flavors (starters, relievers, lefties, righties exe..) How about Marte, Vizciano, El-duque, Baj, and Fields for him? We will also need a DH, i think they will make some sort of incentive offer to Frank- so he'll return, but with limited at bats. In the meantime who out there can fill that DH hole? Hmmm how about Ken Griffey Jr?!? KW seems obsest with him. And his latest injury just lowered his trade value after a solid season. What would the Reds want for him? Probably Anderson, Sweeney, and ALOT of pitching. I say go for it- as long as KW doesn't trade the MAIN-5 (Buerhle, Garland, BMac, Garcia and Contreras) So many questions this offseason- and A LOT of it has to do with what Pauly decides to do this offseason. I for one- would like him to stay- but as you guys said the free-agent market is mighty thin this year- so i'm not expecting him to be around next year at all. i dont think crede is going anywhere. this organization is in love with crede *dont ask me why* but ever since he came back from the DL hes been playing good and thats a good enough reason for the Kenny Williams to keep him.
  8. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) I say we propose tampa a trade of Ozzie and Pods for Crawford and Piniella haha that would be an excellent trade :-D
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) So you are saying that if we blow a 15 game lead in 2 months and miss the playoffs, I should be happy about it because we won 95 games? As long as we make the playoffs I don't give a damn how many games we lost off the lead, but if we miss the playoffs I'm sure not going to be happy about this season. well said
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) 2 of the best modern day managers will be available this off season in Piniella and Leyland. If the Sox won the World Series and Ozzie walked away it would be like winning back to back lotteries to me. What do u think about Lloyd McClendon, i know hes been on sucky teams but his teams always look good defensively and it seems like he is good with scouting and giving his young players a chance. I know hes not as good as piniella but he should be considered for a job somewhere.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) I am blaming ozzie. We had at last two better options than vizcaino... followed by marte. One would have been to let cotts got for a second inning of work... two would be to bring in politte who has bene ridiculously good against both righties and lefties ( much like ozzie). After this season he needs to take a look at three year splits and the splits from this past year for everyone on this team. He needs to look them over daily why he is at it so maybe it gets etched into his brain. I just wish we wer lucky enough to not have to deal with him next season. I know someone is gonna say '' well you have to blame the players sometimes to''. Well maybe if he did not set-up his own players to fail as often i would. i second all of what u said.....ozzie has a tendency to let his relievers pitch to only one or 2 hitters. He rarely lets them pitch a whole inning unless they go to extra innings. Hes all worried that hes over using Cotts, he was a starting pitcher for gods sake, He can take it.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) Thank God that Everett and Crede didn't play last night or we would have never gotten back in that game :rolly .....k whats ur point? all of a sudden they're difference makers just for what they did in one game?
  13. QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) And go back to Schueler and Manuel? HELL NO! We are very close now. Two more good bats (3B & DH) and a reliever during this offseason will do wonder for the team next year. If we are going to fire someone for the sake of firing, Walker is the one. I agree with what u said, but firing walker? i dont know.. i like him but maybe thats what this team needs. :-(
  14. Thank God!!!! But please.............PLEASE!!!If things go wrong dont let it be his last chance this season to start. El Duque got like...8 second chances..Its only fair just to let Mccarthy finish the year as a starter.
  15. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) Marte? I thought we were trying to win games :| last time marte pitched against the tribe he struck out the side *crisp, hafner and martinez* not many pitchers can say that they accomplished that
  16. QUOTE(farmteam @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) Dye is under contract for another season. dude calm down, read what the post is called. "Prospects You Would Like To See" I didnt say they should trade/release Pods or Dye did i? i just think Anderson would play a better Right Field than Dye , i dont know why and i know no one is gonna believe that so laugh at it if u want lol but theres something thats telling me Anderson COULD be better if given a chance, ive seen him throw out Runners at Home so many times it wouldn't surprise me
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:05 AM) Neither is anyone on the Sox staff. exactly my point, whats the big deal , and then hes saying he has to check with Ken Williams to c if it would be the right thing to do. Of Course It Is, R u Kidding Me? http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws ~Mound conference: Manager Ozzie Guillen said Sunday that he is leaning toward starting rookie Brandon McCarthy over Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez against Santana and Minnesota on Thursday. Guillen already has talked to both pitchers, but will wait until he meets with general manager Ken Williams on Monday to make the decision official. ~
  18. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 06:15 AM) 1-8 with a 6.01 era in his last 11 starts. But we got him for this time of year.
  19. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) welcome aboard, nice to have you for this stretch run, should be exciting. Welcome
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) Furcal's probably headed to the Cubs this off-season. He'll want to lead-off which isn't possible while Scotty's around. True, but honestly, who would u rather like to have, furcal or Pods? dont get me wrong pods has been the difference to this team being in first but who would u rather want to have in ur lead off role? ;-)
  21. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) Who calls him that? Last I checked, he's our "3rd baseman of the present." Ozzie called him that
  22. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:05 AM) Well, if we trade Texas, it would be for a pitcher, a solid one. JC's value is pretty high right now. They need to move a piece to get a good arm, and they know it. Does crede even have some value?
  23. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) i still don't understand putting all the blame on KW, but yes, i agree with alot of what he had to say. HE WANTED TO TRADE MCCARTHY FOR GODS SAKE
  24. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) Barons will see Carrilo this weekend Has anyone heard bout the catcher the sox drafted named Donny (donald) Lucy he was supposed to be good and maybe be a backup if not starting catcher in 2-3 years. Ive heard nothing from him and getting scared that he might have been a dissapointment b'cuz we need a catcher who can hit. i like widger and all but we could do a lot better than that cant we?
  25. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) He can kick some ass in college and go back into the draft later. Why would anyone want to play for the Royals anyway? I agree but isn't it sad how the sox have a hard time with them nowadays lol
