  2. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 12:33 PM) What about Andre Davis? An afterthought at this point.
  3. QUOTE (35thstreetswarm @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 12:52 PM) I'd love to see good production from our second tier of prospects, but I'd be pretty happy just getting success out of our top 10. The Cubs won a World Series on the back of a handful of their top prospects. And about half a billion in free agent spending...

  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 11:18 AM) I wouldn't in this case. Burr isn't in our T30. He's an arm worth tracking, don't get me wrong. But the system is deep enough there were a bunch of guys not even on the Just MIssed that could be real prospects. For relievers alone there are Ryan Burr, Brian Clark, Connor Walsh, Matt Foster, Danny Dopico, Kevin Escorcia, Victor Diaz, Will Kincanon, and JB Olson. All of them have MLB potential. But relievers generally have a much harder case to make to be ranked. Hamilton joke. Wait for it is one of Burr's main songs in the musical.

  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 08:05 AM) Austin Jackson signed with the Giants. Could still see them grab Dyson and platoon the 2 with the other coming off the bench for Pence late in games to pinch run and for defense. As bad as the free agent market its, somehow Austin Jackson got a two year deal.
  9. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 09:57 AM) Shocked Burr didn't make the just missed list either.. Wait for it.
  10. It would be really nice for system depth to see a breakout season by Curbelo. We lack depth at both SS and 3B, so having guys emerge there would be awesome.
  11. Chris Kuc‏Verified account @ChrisKuc 5h5 hours ago White Sox agree to terms on minor-league contracts with right-handed pitchers Rob Scahill, Chris Volstad and Michael Ynoa, left-hander T.J. House and infielders Patrick Leonard and Matt Skole.

They've been in on Yu Darvish and Lorenzo Cain as well, and I know they've been working hard on trade possibilities. Sorry if I got people's hopes up.

  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 12:27 PM) I am not making a statement on you making up anything, but this is not a trade rumor. It's something that impacts a person's reputation and without it being reported, they may never have a chance to respond. The details being slightly off could be insignificant, or quite significant. This. It is one thing when being wrong means slander/libel. That is very different than a false trade rumor, and can get you sued. That is a very important line in the sand, and the entire reason those two things are not equal, and won't be treated as such.
  16. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 10:57 AM) Yeah, things have to go our way. You can look at a lot of championship teams and see things like that. Across all sports. Listen, I don't like Tom Brady and the Patriots. They are the evil empire that wins all the time. Dosen't mean they aren't good. I would love nothing more than to see the Pats bomb and suck for a long period of time. Their staying power over a very long period of time is as powerful of a statement as there is as to how "lucky" they are.
  17. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 12:45 PM) I think players like AJ Puckett, Tito Polo, Luis Alexander Basabe, etc. end up near the back of our top 30. The system is much deeper with actual talent that it was even twelve months ago. Those guys would have been around the top 10 a couple of years ago.
  18. TJ House... I don't remember seeing that signing. Is that new?
  19. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 11:05 AM) Due to his positional adjustment. The last three years he's put up OPS+ of 83, 88, and 97. He's a below average bat already in his decline phase. Where do you move him when he can't play CF? He's 34 and has 3 years left on his deal. With that being said I wouldn't oppose trading for him but it would be with the understanding we wouldn't get much of anything out of him and it would have to be for a bunch of prospects. Not one. It would be Frazier ++. Honestly if we did trade for him I wouldn't be opposed to giving him his release. It would allow us to not have to try and convince him to waive his NTC and we wouldn't have him clogging one of the OF spots. You are arguing things no one has said.
  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 10:51 AM) Yes, but that didn't happen. They won those games and that's what makes them so great. Also, you could say the same thing about the two Super Bowls vs the Giants. The Giants literally needed miracle plays to win those games. Catching hail mary passes off your helmet by a career back up player kind of miracles. Patriots could easily be undefeated in Super Bowls. The idea that Tom Brady is average is one of the craziest things I've ever read about sports. Same with the idea that they just got "lucky". Every champion gets "lucky" at some extent. Even statistically, getting "lucky" that many times means you aren't really "lucky" anymore.
  21. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 10:43 AM) Ellsbury projects to have a 0.3 WAR this season. He's already 34 how much longer do you think he can play a competent CF? Because almost all his value is in his positional adjustment. He is still putting up productive numbers. 1.6 fWAR last season, 2.0 the year before. He isn't putting up superstar numbers anymore, but he isn't worthless either.
  22. Just FYI, Kade McClure is listed as a 16 draftee, not 17. It is pretty awesome to see at the granular level guys that used to be in the mid-list range, now coming in at outside of the list. Off of this group, very excited to see what Sosa does this year.

  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 08:16 AM) https://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/top-...pfgzrHUro9iD.97 The Sox with only five top 100 prospects: 4. Jimenez 11. Kopech 57. Hansen 58. Robert 82. Dunning I'm actually shocked by how low Robert is ranked and somewhat surprised about Hansen. Outside of Robert, I am actually really respectful of this ranking group. I think it recognizes what Hansen has done, and it recognizes what Cease hasn't done. With Robert I can accept the excuse that he hasn't played here yet, but once he does we'll see what happens. Regardless, for the White Sox future, it isn't these guys we need to worry about most. It is the group of prospects on our own #10-40 type rankings we need to make some noise to get the Sox to the playoffs again.
  25. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 08:48 AM) I guess maybe the Giants would give him league minimum and a real shot to start? If he were a free agent today, he'd still get a major league contract for sure. It wouldn't be a $20 million contract, but Ellsbury still brings positive value. He was around 2 war each of the last two years. There are a number of teams he would start for.
