  1. Happy Birthday
  2. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 06:26 PM) Wow, it looks like Police really screwed this one up. Anyone know when part 13 is supposed to go up? It was posted on Sunday.
  3. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 10:52 PM) Often times in cases like this, they know who did it but they screw up so bad they can't prosecute. This case would be a perfect example. If they tried to prosecute the guy from the park, Condit would be their reasonable doubt. It wouldn't even be close with a jury. Unless the guy confessed, he would get off.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) Anyone can say that about any political candidate if they wanted to. Seriously. Not this type of campaign. Heck look back to 04. John Kerry sure as hell didn't run like this, and neither did Al Gore. If anyone of them did, we wouldn't be talking about George Bush today.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) Mayor Daley says hi. Same thing on a smaller scale. Not coincidentally, Obama is a product of dirty Chicago politics, you can't make it very far without slinging a little mud. First election he won in Chicago, he did it on a technicality by getting everybody else disqualified and running unopposed. Where do you think he learned his trade from? He learned from some of the slimiest dirtiest politicians in the country. The smart part about what he is doing is farming out out of the mudslinging to his surrogates and general public. He looks clean because he just has everyone else doing in for him.
  6. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) If the Sox are 2.5 games or more in front of Minnesota by the end of that series, I'll feel very good about the road trip. I hate playing in that dump of a stadium. I'd be thrilled with a split in Minny. They are the ones on the chase, so all that does it make it 4 less games for them to make up ground.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) Well, turns out your sweep prediction was almost right. I'm pretty happy with 2 of 3 at DET, even if they were ugly wins. I don't care who it is, winning two out of three on the road is always good.
  8. Something finally hit me today. Barack Obama is running a campaign straight out of Karl Rove's playbook. Complete with the glittering generalities and the vague giant promises for everyone. He never really attacks anyone, but he has all of his surrogates who do it for him so he never really looks like he is attacking anyone and stays above the fray. McCain is constantly attacked, and then when McCain attacks back, the attack machine goes into effect talking about how negative he has been. He gets off scottfree. Anything he does is made to look so incredible and is portrayed in a huge glare, even if McCain has already done the exact samething and was generally ignored. We have our first GOP style democrat.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) Social Security. Anyway...this doesn't prove the government should be running everything. But if I were to campaign on the point that we'd gone well too far in stripping the government and trying to drown it in the streets of new orleans a bathtub as Grover Norquist suggested and as GW Bush has casually tried to do...here's an example of how we've swung way too far and it's costing us a lot. There's many others. This one's just pretty damn obvious and blatant. Obviously you have never had a parent suffer a permanent working disability who got turned down for social security even though he fit the very definition of someone who should get benefits. It took 5 years and a lawyer who took 1/3 of the back benefits for someone who couldn't work at all to get what he deserved, because the government rejected his initial claim. No social security does not work.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) The speculation bill will not help drive down prices. If anyone thinks price maniputlation happens now, wait until the price control falls to an interested party. Its called a monopoly.
  11. 59-44 +2.5 games over MN, and on to the Hump Dome.
  12. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) Dye blast sounds death knell for Tigers. Sox 58-43, 3.5 up on the damn Twinkies and 6.5 up on the damn Tiggers. 59-43 +3.5 over MN, 7.5 over DET. Sox are 6-4 against Detroit now this year.
  13. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) As a by the way, you know, I figured it out on the rejection of the editorial letter. All John McCain would have had to do was put his letter in an envelope, put "TOP SECRET GOVERNMENT BUSINESS" on the outside, drop it in the mailbox, and it would have been ran on the front page with big ass headlines. We know the NYT would publish that!

  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 01:56 PM) Once I let an old lady in front of me in a line at Walgreen's thinking I was doing the right thing and being a gentleman and all, since she only had one thing in her hand. She smiles, thanks me, and then proceeds to pull out a Crown Royal bag and pays for her purchase of several dollars in all pennies. I wanted to kick her in the shin. You should have waited until she paid, then kicked her in the shin and taken the CR.

  17. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 01:49 PM) McCain's Double Standard on Campaign Visits to Military Bases Good for McCain. I am glad he decided that it was OK to follow the rules and not to blame someone else for not being able to comprehend that. Then again if the media paid any attention at all to McCain and his campaign, this could have been news too. I guess that double standard works both ways too.
  18. And me without my jars of pennies to take in :
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 01:04 PM) To be clear, I am not saying its NOT true. I'm saying I don't feel confident either way, yet. I really hope it isn't true. Otherwise all of that stuff about a life changing experience from his wife's cancer was the biggest load of s*** since Barry Bonds swore he was clean. That really would piss me off, and I totally would pity his wife. Talk about bad luck.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) What does that have to do with this discussion? Maybe if his followers were trying to blame Obama it would be relevant?
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 12:06 PM) you are absurd, they make the trips for weeks than the day before, on a trip planned to the hour, they weren't even sure if his plane could land on the base. Grow up. LOL. Obama's camp can't figure out the rules, and I am absurd and need to grow up. Nice. Any other insults you would like to hurl?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) A large majority of drug addicts favor cheap drugs for themselves as well. I forgot 50% +1 only should apply to the Presidential election...
  23. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 12:01 PM) do you understand the logistic of a trip like this? When you have everything planned to almost the minute, just ditching your plane and staff isnt exactly easy. Get another plane, hell drive. If is that important, make it happen. I sereverly doubt that they couldn't have made arrangements for the 5 or 6 people we are talking about here. One of two things happened. Either they had no idea what the rules were, or they figured they didn't have to worry about them. Either way people trying to paint this as some kind of McCain conspiracy are just laughable. This is the Obama camps fault. They have no one else to blame but themselves.
  24. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) Debunked Uh that doesn't debunk anything. The Pentagon made him observe the rules, he didn't want to do that, and he cancelled. As I said before Obama could have still gone himself as a US Senator, but he didn't want to be without the press in tow so he could look "Presidential". If he really cared just about visiting the troops, he would have still gone and told them all of the same things he was going to say in front of the cameras.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 11:52 AM) The DoD essentially canceled his trip with the troops, but nice try. More like Obama didn't get his way and cancelled the trip. He could have still gone, just sans the traveling circus. http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmart...ical_rules.html
