I heard the report again. Bruce Levine said that the Dodgers and Twins are both also interested in Mueller. He said that the Sox want Mueller to back up 3B, 2B, and 1B and get 400-500 at bats. He would also serve as protection for Crede and his bad back. I would like this signing because we would have a great starting 3rd baseman if Crede misses time and we would also be screwing over the Twins.

Thank you. Finally, people will see why Dye or Konerko made no sense in the #3 spot. Regardless of the lefty-righty garbage, you stick your best hitter there. Good point. I heard Levine mentioned that the Sox would be looking to pay Mueller around $6 million so it must be a 2 year deal for $3 million a year.

Mueller still has to accept the fact that he'd be signing on for a utility role, unless Crede's back makes him miss a lot of time. I have to think he wants a starting job.

I agree. I think you could get a center fielder for Marte, Willie, and a prospect. Juan Pierre? I still think that Brian Anderson will be our starting center fielder though. Kenny loves him and has been talking him up quite a bit since the Thome trade.

Exactly, give me Mueller for $2.5 million over Timo for $1 million. Borchard and Ozuna can replace Timo as our fourth and fifth outfielders.

I think it all just depends on whether or not Mueller will accept the 3B/2B backup role. But if Crede's back makes him miss time, he knows he will be starting. There must be another team out there that would sign Mueller to start at third base. Maybe he will accept the role to win another World Series.

Thome could play 1st base and Konerko could DH, when Paulie needs rest. If one of them got injured, they could just call up a 1st baseman like Gload or Rogowski. And I just heard the sports update on ESPN 1000. The Sox are trying to convince Bill Mueller to sign on as a utility-man and backup Crede and Iguchi.

Uribe would see a lot more fastballs batting in front of either Thome or Konerko so his numbers would likely improve batting second. I still don't think I like the idea because he's a low OBP guy and a horrible base-stealer.

Just 3rd base and a little 2nd base. This must mean that Crede's back must not be feeling too good. But Mueller would be a good #2 hitter. He doesn't have any speed but he makes a lot of contact and hits a lot of line drives for a really high OBP.

That's really not the right way to look at it in my opinion but it was still well worth it either way.
