  1. That aspect of it truly does suck. But we are truly a better team for it.

  3. Konerko agrees to five-year deal with White Sox http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2242424
  4. Obviously, Sheffield will stay in right field but who would play center field, Abreu or Matsui? I thought they wanted to get a solid glove for center. Neither Abreu nor Matsui would be good in center.
  5. Myers is a 36 year old situational lefty. There's no way he gets $3 million a year like Eyre who can get lefties and righties out.
  6. I never said it did but what would be wrong with a .355 OBP and great speed from the two-hole?
  7. One bad season doesn't make a player suck. Go check out Konerko's 2003 numbers.
  8. Not everyone is thinking this would be a good move because of emotions. Maybe some people realize that if you can get a decent and cheap replacement for Marte in Myers and package Marte in a trade for a #2 hitter, it would be worth it.
  9. Marte didn't get the job done. He gave up baserunners to the tune of a 1.72 WHIP and guys like Politte and Cotts bailed him out. There's a reason Marte's ERA was only 3.77 last season.
  10. The walks mean nothing because Marte hadn't pitched in awhile? What? Do you remember what he did in ALDS against the Red Sox? You act like Marte wasn't walking guys all season, and postseason, long.
  11. Marte still walked two batters in those 1.2 innings and had to be relieved for Buehrle to get the save.
  12. Exactly, and if Marte sucks again next season his trade value will be be zero.
  13. Marte pitched well for two innings in Game 3 of the World Series. He was awful for the entire regular season and the rest of the postseason. You are letting Marte's two most recent good innings slant your perspective.
  14. I'm just curious. If you can sign a lefty that could do Marte's job at almost half the cost and use Marte in a trade to obtain a #2 hitter, why wouldn't you do it? Maybe because teams use Myers wrong and pitch him against too many righties? It seemed to work for the Red Sox last season.
  15. First of all, one of the reasons Myers has been on so many teams is because he's 36 years old. The other reason is because he's a situational lefty. He's great against lefties but he should not even be used against righties. This makes him less valuable for a roster spot than a reliever that can get lefties and righties out like Neal Cotts. But the way Ozzie likes to use lefties, Myers would be great addition to our bullpen. The most I could see Myers earning is $1.5 million for the season.
  16. Bradley has 100 times the talent and ability that Patterson has. He's just a complete psycho. If he could control his temper and clubhouse problems, give me Bradley over Patterson any day of the week. But he likely won't.
  17. I think that's what might happen. Re-sign Konerko and I'd be fine with Pierre as our #2 hitter. If Konerko leaves, I'd rather have Brian Anderson in center field.
  18. I agree with you. Overbay is overrated. I said the same thing a few posts back.
  19. I think Marte would be moved with prospects for an established #2 hitter or a 1B/DH. If it's for a 1B/DH, then Konerko is obviously gone.
  20. Bruce Levine is reporting that the Cubs offered Corey Patterson to the Dodgers for Milton Bradley and L.A. is looking at him.
  21. I think the point of signing Myers would be to allow us to trade Marte in a package for a #2 hitter or a 1B/DH. That's why this move would make sense.
  22. My point is that the Brewers will trade Overbay if someone offers them enough young, cheap pitching talent. I don't see what Prince Fielder could have possibly done in the minors or majors last year to make them think he isn't ready.
