  1. Not to mention the fact that we signed Dye to a cheap contract and he put up better numbers than Lee.
  2. They have a good shortstop prospect in Joaquin Arias so they could just move Michael Young to second base. Soriano would need to be re-signed and would get a lot of money via arbitration, maybe around $9 million. They need to spend their money on pitching. Soriano is one of the most overrated players in baseball.
  3. We won't be able to afford both Konerko and Furcal. That would be around $23 million of salary added to our payroll per year.
  4. I remember hearing a rumor that he banged a porn star named Jessica Jaymes. Maybe that has something to do with their breakup.
  5. A season and a half later, do you still think we overpaid by giving up Miguel Olivo, Jeremy Reed, and Michael Morse for Freddy Garcia?
  6. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=cita...adel&type=story This part of the article makes it sound like bulls***: Furcal for $100 million? Yeah right.

  8. Because Furcal will cost $10 million a year and we would rather have Konerko back so Thome could DH.
  9. If the Pirates really wanted Borchard, they would have traded for him after Borchard had a great Spring Training. Afterall, Borchard didn't even make our roster and was sent back down to the minors.
  10. The Pirates just released Michael Restovich, an outfield prospect who was originally with the Twins. He's a similar player to Borchard, he has a lot of power but he strikes out a ton. If they didn't want Restovich, why would they want Borchard? Also, the Pirates seem to have a lot of outfielders already -- Jason Bay, Craig Wilson, Rob Mackowiak, Jody Gerut, and Chris Duffy. I'm sure they would like to add a power-hitting outfielder but I doubt Borchard is the guy. Anderson has more speed than Rowand so he should be able to steal some bases. I would love to have Freel though.
  11. We dumped quite a bit of money in Frank ($8 million), Everett ($4 million), and Rowand ($2 million) who was due $3.25 million next season.
  12. The Indians were rumored to be willing to give up Coco Crisp and David Riske for Thome and cash. That wouldn't have been a bad haul for the Phillies. I can see why Kenny overpaid a bit. I'd rather have Thome on the Sox and not have Gio Gonzalez and Daniel Haigwood than have Thome on the Indians and have flashbacks of him killing us all over again.
  13. Paying for saves is not very smart. Billy Koch is a perfect example. We traded for him because he had a ton of saves. Also, does a healthy Hermanson have a ton of trade value because he had 34 saves last season? He shouldn't. He doesn't strike anyone out and many of his saves were shaky and helped by great defense. You are better off going by a closer's peripherals such as K/9, BB/9, and all-around stuff.
  14. I don't see how he can add any relievers when we already have El Duque making $4.5 million next season.
  15. Giles will get more than $8-$9 million a year, probably over $10 million a year as well.
  16. You may as well keep Borchard as the fourth outfielder and let Timo go. Borchard probably wouldn't net anything good in a trade anyways. I think the loser of the battle between Brian Anderson and Jerry Owens should be sent to Charlotte. You don't want to stunt a prospect's growth by having him sit on the bench. Dusty Baker almost did it to Matt Murton until Hendry stepped in and made him play him. It's just not a good idea.
  17. Podsednik LF Iguchi 2B Manny DH Thome 1B Dye RF Pierzynski C Crede 3B Anderson CF Uribe SS
  18. If that trade goes down, Batista would probably go back to starting for the Rangers.
  19. Exactly, look down at the end of the article: http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/columnists/askba.html
  20. Because I doubt Ozzie would bat him second since he has no speed, although I do think he would make a decent #2 hitter because of his high OBP. I also think Ozzie would bat Mueller around there to split up the lefties and righties: Podsednik (lefty) Iguchi (righty) Thome (lefty) Konerko (righty) Mueller (switch, but better from left side) Dye (righty) Pierzynski (lefty) Anderson (righty) Uribe (righty) I'd rather have Dye batting fifth. I agree with you. I was just speaking hypothetically, as in, if Crede was on the DL.
  21. I disagree, as long as we re-sign Konerko. Podsednik: 0 HR Iguchi: 15 HR Thome: 40 HR Konerko: 40 HR Mueller: 10 HR Dye: 31 HR Pierzynski: 18 HR Anderson: 15 HR Uribe: 16 HR That would be 185 homeruns with much improved OBP in the lineup.
  22. It's not a direct quote from Kenny but Dave van Dyck is saying that Kenny said those guys would be the two options for center field.
  23. Adding Jim Thome and Bill Mueller would be a massive improvement to our team OBP.

He also pulled his groin in a pickoff.
