  1. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/columnists/askba.html Nice to see that he rated Chris Young above Felix Pie.
  2. Exactly. The money is already invested in Borchard. It wouldn't kill us to use him as our fourth outfielder, even if he sucks. Afterall, Timo sucked this past season. And if Borchard actually hits well for us off the bench, he could increase his trade value and we might actually be able to get something for him in a trade. It's basically a very low risk and high reward option for us to keep Borchard as our fourth outfielder.
  3. I do think Borchard will end up being the fourth outfielder. We don't really need a fifth outfielder since Ozuna can play there. But I really hope we don't re-sign Timo. He'd be a waste of another million dollars.

MLB.com has Everett listed at 215 pounds. He weighed 190 when he was playing center field full-time. It will be the start of the 2006 season. It's not 2000 or before that anymore when Everett could actually play center field.

Brian Anderson is light years better than Everett defensively. The last time Everett played center field full-time was in 2000 with the Red Sox but that was about 25 pounds ago. He's out of shape, slow, and poor on defense now. It would be a disaster for any team to sign Everett as their starting center fielder.

Carl Everett in center field? Dear God. :puke
  7. Exactly. Contreras could be gone after 2006 and Buehrle could be gone after 2007. Our best chance of repeating is next season and possibly 2007.

You're really not suggesting that we re-sign Carl Everett and make him our starting center fielder, are you?
  9. I love Giles' offense but he is also 35 years old just like Thome. We would be getting very old very quickly with Thome and Giles on the same roster. Kenny wants to re-sign Konerko so Thome can DH. You yourself even state that Brian Anderson had only 34 major league at bats. Ever heard of a small sample size?
  10. And this is why I say, "THANKS BLUE JAYS!!!"
  11. Giles would be nice but it isn't happening. They will try to re-sign Konerko. Brian Anderson is all but guaranteed to be our starting center fielder.
  12. Okay, let me stick to the topic then. Why were you surprised that the Mets and Red Sox gave up such good prospects in their trades but it's no big deal at all that we gave up Gio Gonzalez and Daniel Haigwood? They aren't exactly trash. They were both top ten prospects with us just as the guys the Mets and Red Sox gave up were. In my opinion, all three trades were good for the Mets, Red Sox, and White Sox but we gave up as much if not more than the Mets and Red Sox did. And if Mike Lowell puts up numbers similar to his 2004 season, he will easily be worth $9 million a year.
  13. Lowell had a horrible 2005 season just like Thome. Does Thome suck because he had a terrible 2005? Other than last season, Lowell usually puts up pretty good numbers just as Thome does. Lowell's usual numbers aren't as good as Thome's usual numbers but they are damn good for a third baseman. You can't bash Lowell for one bad year and praise Thome when he had an equally bad 2005. That was my whole point.
  14. Yes, I checked his profile before they changed it to Sox gear and it was the same face pic.
  15. I'm pretty sure they just photoshopped the photo of Thome in a Phillies' cap and uniform.
  16. I think it was a good trade for us but I don't see how you can dislike the Beckett, Lowell, and Mota trade and the Delgado trade but love the Thome trade. Good prospects were given up in all three trades.
  17. Brutal contract.
  18. How do you figure that we lost speed? Thome is supposedly our DH. Were Everett and Frank that much faster than him? Also, Anderson is supposed to be faster than Rowand.
  19. Sorry, I didn't realize what thread I was in. It's true though.
  20. Hehe. Well, it made the most sense that we would trade Rowand. Afterall, we have Brian Anderson, Jerry Owens, and Chris Young who can all play center field. It was just a matter of time before he was dealt.
  21. Sox fans say this every year. I hope it happens though.

You may as well keep Gload if you just want a backup first baseman.

There's no reason to even think about Sweeney. He will earn $12.5 million in 2006 and 2007 if he is traded. May as well just re-sign Konerko.
