  1. Podsednik in right field? Haha, guys would be running for 2nd and 3rd on him non-stop because of his noodle-arm.
  2. Well, that really doesn't matter. To the White Sox, he is overpaid. The White Sox will not pay $20 million for one player.
  3. I think you give Frank a one year deal with a cheap base and incentives. If he gets injured again next season, you cut him loose.
  4. I'd rather resign Frank on the cheap and hope he can stay healthy enough to DH. We would have to give up a bunch of players/prospects for Manny and we would also have to take on his brutal contract. Resign Frank to a cheap contract and if he gets injured again, use Dye as our DH and put Brian Anderson out in right field. Of course, I'm assuming that we keep Konerko which may not be what happens. Afterall, we have to give Frank $3.5 million anyways. May as well tack on a few more millions and keep him.
  5. He could DH for my team but that's about it. If I had to watch this lazy slug in left field I would puke. It really doesn't matter though, we aren't paying $20 million for a DH.
  6. "My client's clutchness cannot be replaced. He deserves an extra $19 million for that alone." The fact is that if we are going to have low strikeout guys like Garland, Buehrle, and even Freddy on our pitching staff, we need studly defenders in our infield. I think our only decently high strikeout starters will be Contreras and McCarthy. So if we keep Paulie and improve at DH from Carl (not too tough), we can afford Crede's offense in the 8th spot.
  7. Carl wasn't bad in the postseason. I really appreciate his first half in which he single-handedly owned the Twinkies. His second half is what earned his ticket off this team but I appreciate what he did for us.
  8. The only bullpen move I see us making is trading Marte in a package for offense and signing a lefty reliever like Scott Eyre or Mike Myers. Mike Myers was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois so maybe he would like to come back home to the World Series winner. Other than that, our bullpen is set. We need to spend our money on offense, not more pitching.
  9. No, he really wasn't. Timo's situational stats in 2004 http://sports.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/6568...04&type=Batting Timo's situational stats in 2005 http://sports.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/6568/situational Timo was a much, much better situational hitter in 2004. You are just remembering the few big hits he had this season.
  10. Banking on clutch hitting is unwise. Just like Timo Perez was a money clutch hitter in 2004, he was far from the same hitter off the bench in key situations this season. Just add good hitters and you won't have to worry about getting clutch hits.
  11. Do you think Contreras is all of a sudden going to stop being able to throw 95 MPH with a great forkball next season?
  12. Because we won a ton of games just barely squeeking out enough runs, often times with clutch hits. Do you honestly think we are going to get all of those clutch hits next year? I don't. That's why it would be a good idea to improve the offense.
  13. Why not? He has great stuff and he has finally learned to trust it and throw strikes. His problem before was not throwing strikes. Now he has confidence and is challenging batters. I could honestly see him being our best pitcher next season.
  14. It wouldn't be horrible if we didn't also have a light-hitting left fielder. If we still had Carlos Lee in left field, Rowand's OPS wouldn't matter. But then we wouldn't have a leadoff man either. I do agree that the Yankees would take Rowand in a second though.
  15. Regardless of what happens, Jacque Jones and Jeromy Burnitz would still be terrible acquisitions. Both are swing for the fences types of guys that we don't need on this team. We already have enough guys that strikeout too much and don't walk enough. Burnitz will be 37 years old to start next season and will likely be much worse than he was this season. Jacque Jones will likely be overpaid because of the weak free agent class. That's why both are poor options.
  16. Burnitz had a .757 OPS this year. All he was good for was defense. Most of the time he was swinging for the fences and K'ing a lot. Brian Anderson will give you the great defense, make next to nothing, and I would be surprised if he couldn't even put up a .757 OPS.
  17. Burnitz? :puke If Paulie leaves and it comes down to Dye playing first base, Brian Anderson will be out in right field. That's pretty much all there is to it. Why waste money on a bad free agent outfielder when you have a top OF prospect that plays great defense and makes next to nothing?
  18. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...ack=1&cset=true Work ahead While negotiations with Paul Konerko may stretch out for weeks, options on the contracts of Carl Everett and Frank Thomas have to be decided soon. The Sox have to tell Everett by Monday (five days after the World Series) whether they will pay him $5 million or buy him out for $500,000. Even if they choose the latter course, they could re-sign him at a lower salary. Thomas is a little more complicated. He has to tell the team by Monday that he will play for $12 million, which is a foregone conclusion, then the team has five days to accept that or pay him $3.5 million as a buyout, which is also a foregone conclusion. After the official contract business, the Sox are expected to try to re-sign him at a much, much lower salary. "I'm not going to stop being aggressive because we won it," GM Ken Williams said. "As a matter of fact, I want it even more now than I did before."
  19. Haha, that was terrible. She yells for Cliff and then has to turn around to see him.
  20. Okay, I found it. Thanks. http://www.suntimes.com/output/worldseries...t-deluca28.html
