Wow, it's a miracle what make-up can do. Check out the vile beast on the right. :puke -

Angela has a pretty brutal face but Kristen is hot. -
That was easy.

Wow, good job on the photoshopping. I would say either Delgado or Giles.
-
Dye hit 15 homers at the Cell and 16 on the road. He has always had good power, regardless of the ballpark he plays at.
-
Sweetney looks like a beast around the rim but he is a total hacker on defense. I can see why he isn't starting. He would foul out by halftime. I still love his offensive game and potential though.
-
Great thought. I agree with you. When you know that many hard hit flyballs will just be cans of corn for outfielders playing deep, you may try to hit more low linedrive doubles. Excellent analysis. I do think that Giles would easily change his approach and hit 35 - 40 homers at the Cell though.
-
BMac41 doesn't seem to understand this.
-
You do know that almost every player is just looking for the big bucks when they hit free agency, right? It's usually their one big chance to cash in while they are in their prime.
-
Ryan Howard won't be moved either. Thome will be the guy they try to dump.
-
The Phillies aren't going to trade Ryan Howard. They will try to dump Jim Thome, even if they have to pick up a lot of his contract. Neither guy can play any other position but first base. Trading an extremely promising, cheap 25 year old first baseman to keep a banged-up 35 year old slugger who is making a lot of money would be a really stupid move. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to move Pat Burrell as well.
-
Sean Casey has no power at a premium power position. You may as well sign Scott Hatteberg or throw Ross Gload at first base full-time. Money or not, Casey would be a horrible move. Casey will make $8.5 million next season anyways.

Here's the whole article. http://www.newcitychicago.com/chicago/4816.html

So we don't need Konerko but you want to replace him with Sean Casey? Oh my.
-
I was thinking more of Thome at first base and batting third with Frank at DH and batting fourth. Thome is nothing special defensively at first base but he isn't horrible.
-
What would the point of that be? Teixeira would expect even more money than Konerko. I know he's worth a lot more than Konerko but if we aren't going to shell out the cash for Konerko we aren't going to shell out the players, prospects, and money that Teixeira would cost. And guess who Teixeira's agent is? Boras. He was already rumored to want a 10 year contract for Teixeira. Not going to happen.
-
If Konerko signs elsewhere, my prediction is that Jim Thome will be our starting first baseman with the Phillies picking up a lot of his contract.
-
If Konerko wants a 6 or 7 year deal with a no-trade clause, I'm sorry but goodbye Paulie. No way do I want the Sox to still be burdened with Konerko making a ton of money when he is 36 years old. If this is true, it's time for Kenny to look into trading for Overbay or Thome (only if the Phillies are willing to pick up a ton of his contract). I read that the Phillies would be willing to pay two-thirds of what Thome is owed over the remaining three years of his contract so he is a definate option. Both of these guys will be available this offseason due to Prince Fielder and Ryan Howard taking over for them and the lack of DH in the N.L. There's nowhere else for them to play on their current teams.

Rumor: AL Playoff OF tests positive for steroids

Exactly. It worked this season when we had Everett as insurance. I hope Kenny does the same thing for next season. Find a viable alternative at DH in case Frank gets injured again but bring Frank back to a cheap contract.

Hermanson still wasn't striking anyone out when he was healthy earlier in the season. Relievers that put the ball in play that much aren't going to maintain a 2.00 ERA over the years. The defense behind him either won't always make the plays or won't be in the position to make the plays. Those hard hit shots that Hermanson allows will find holes sooner or later.

I agree that Murton will be fine in left field but Patterson keeping his starting job would be a disaster. He has no baseball instincts whatsoever. He swings at pitches over his head and in the dirt. When he actually does get in base, he doesn't know when to steal. He can't even bunt to use his speed. Chris Young will probably be the player Corey Patterson was supposed to be. The Cubs would be better off bringing Kenny Lofton back for a year until Felix Pie is ready. If I was a Cubs fan, I would curse Jim Hendry to hell if Corey Patterson was the opening day starting center fielder in 2006.

Dynasty? No. Good team next season? Yes.
