If Konerko leaves and Frank is re-signed, Gload will be brought back as protection in case of another injury to Frank. Unless the Tigers cut Carlos Pena and we sign him, he won't be on our team. The Sox aren't going to trade Politte either, and definately not to a team in our division. Also, here is a quote about Konerko and the Red Sox: http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/ds.../pro/101sd1.htm "The Los Angeles Angels are rumored to be a strong suitor for Konerko's services, as is Boston. The Daily Southtown reported last month, however, the Red Sox are an unlikely destination for Konerko. According to one White Sox player, Konerko had told several teammates he had no desire to play for Boston. "We were kidding with Paulie after the Boston series (the AL Division Series) that he'd better get used to playing in Fenway Park, and he said, 'You won't have to worry about that,' " the player said."

I don't really buy that about Walker. He still has a lot of value because he is a great stick and makes barely anything ($2.5 million). By the way, Eduardo Perez is 36 years old. I'd rather bring Frank back very cheaply, hope he can stay healthy, and have Gload as a backup DH/1B.
-
The Cubs are going to trade Todd Walker for a reliever or in a package for an outfielder. We won't be getting him. Eduardo Perez? You can't be serious. Just don't look at his career numbers. :puke
-
Especially when he will be in the bullpen if he is still even on the team, even though I think he will be because we won't be able to dump his $4.5 million salary.
-
What would be the best option in your opinion? A trade for Thome or giving the job to Gload? Just curious on what you want to see the Sox to do.
-
If Konerko does have a degenerative hip problem, does anyone think he would ever admit that? Of course he wouldn't.
-
Don't ask me. All I know is that he draws stupid penalty after stupid penalty.
-
Pierre will earn $6 - $8 million via arbitration next season. He will be a free agent after next season. There's no way the Sox trade for him.
-
Roberto "False Start" Garza. He's so worthless.

http://msn.foxsports.com/story/5070298 "Free-agent first baseman Paul Konerko would like a full no-trade clause from the team that signs him, but two of his most interested suitors, the White Sox and Angels, frown on such provisions. The Angels gave right fielder Vladimir Guerrero, shortstop Orlando Cabrera and right-hander Bartolo Colon extremely limited no-trade protection in their free-agent deals."

I agree with you. Sweetney's offense is awesome. I think he could average a double double if he was a starter. I think Skiles may be afraid of him fouling out by halftime if he starts though.
-
Does anyone else love Sweetney's game? He can even make his free throws. As long as you don't watch him play defense, he looks like a stud.
-
I would tend to agree. Just don't throw him a fastball near the heart of the plate and he will go Corey Patterson style.
-
You don't think this guy is worth $5 million dollars over 2 years?

Hahahahaha, the Cubs can't really be this clueless can they? http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...ack=1&cset=true Cubs, Perez agree on 2-year contract "PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- From all accounts, Nomar Garciaparra would love to return to the Cubs for a third season. But the veteran shortstop whom the Cubs made it a priority to keep is Neifi Perez, who has agreed to terms on a two-year deal that is expected to be announced on Tuesday. "I've decided I really like the guys who catch the ball," Hendry said."

http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view...rticleid=111103 Manny-to-Mets trade is alive "The centerpiece of the deal, coming from the Mets’ side, would be center fielder Mike Cameron and two of the following three prospects: outfielder Lastings Milledge and right-handers Aaron Heilman and Yusmeiro Petit."

If we signed Giles, I'd rather just keep Dye and play him at first base. Podsednik Iguchi Giles Thomas Dye Pierzynski Crede Uribe Anderson

Mark Shapiro, NOT Kenny Williams, Exec of the Year

What's more impressive? Re-tooling your entire team and winning a World Series or building towards the future with no real guarantee of a World Series? I know which one I would pick. -
Letting Konerko go and putting Rogowski at first base is just asking to suck next season.

Player 1: 2004 Aaron Rowand Player 2: 2005 Chad Tracy A winner is me!

That's a man, baby! -
I think most reasonable people would agree with you. Garcia is usually going to put up an ERA in the high 3's every year. For all we know, Garland could shoot back up to the 4.50 range next season.
