  1. There is one big problem with the White Flag concept that no one has addressed. KW will be negotiating on our behalf.
  2. I have a bigger problem with Brantley than I do with Koch. Like a lot of new announcers with no necks, they like to hear themselves babble. Did you guys hear Dave Justice the other night? Just as bad. Do they get paid by the word, with bonuses for poor grammar?
  3. Someone made a comment, can't remember where, that it was odd to bat Rios in the three slot Tuesday night when Frank was benched. I agree, and it reminded me of something. A few years ago, in Denver, right fielder Larry Walker was injured. At the time he was batting third and hitting a ton. So, he is out for a week or three. The manager then was Jim Leyland. He played a different guy almost every night in right, because whoever he put out there went hitless. But whoever he played batted third. Finally, after a few games, the papers scaulded Leyland, and for good reason. Jerry coached under Leyland in Miami. Maybe they were joined at the hip.
  4. Jason, these reports are more important than your finals.
  5. The Denver papers, which cover the Rockies in minute detail, made comments recently about Pacheco and Wade Parrish. Re: Pacheco, the article was summarizing all of Dan Dowd's trades, most of which were bad. In the Sandy Alomar/Pacheco trade last July, the paper said that the Rockies gave up too much, because Pacheco had one of the best arms in the organization, even though Sandy played well in his half season in Denver. Then, more recently, they commented on the Parrish/Gload trade. They recently converted Parrish from reliever to starter, where he has done very well in AA. They now consider him a genuine pitching prospect. I must be having a slow day.
  6. I bet he'll be in Jason's Top 10.
  7. This White Flag issue is probably the most interesting area of speculation, because the team as it is isn't going anywhere. I'm sure Bartolo will generate a lot of interest from other teams. I bet JR would love to package one of his untradable salaries with Bart for some minor leaguers. I guess the big decision for Sox Brass is whether to trade Bart for prospects or hold him for free agency draft choices in 2004.
  8. I think Frank has fantasized about going to LA, but it isn't going to happen.
  9. BrandoFan, pls tell me why you called Yofu that name?
  10. Almonte is the guy who is really struggling now.
  11. It's a lot more truthful than saying, "We're talented."
  12. Who would you rather have on the staff, Ring or Rick White?
  13. Royce is another guy who should be pushed up the minor league ladder. In addition to Yan, Reed, Webster. The parent team needs talent now, and will need it even more in 1-2 years.
  14. Hey Jason, will your article on rebuilding the Sox come before or after your article on the Top 50 Prospects?
  15. Didn't Snopek get the third base job after Robin left? He won it in spring training, and then stunk up the joint on opening day, and was back on the bench the next day and released shortly thereafter.
  16. The winner should go on the DL.
  17. Who were the two players in the top 100. Did we even try?
  18. Kind of a reverse Pick to Click?
  19. CWSox45 mentioned that Dave Dombrowski is doing a good job with Detroit. Dave used to be with the Sox until Hawk fired him for the simple reason that Dave never played in the big leagues. Hawk fired EVERYBODY that didn't have big league on his resume.
  20. I bet KW was asleep at the switch. Sanchez was good enough to make our team, period.
  21. I can just see Big Frank playing first against the Dodgers, just so he can bat against Kevin Brown.
