  1. Would someone please tell me why Wunsch stayed in for three batters... if that is what happened.
  2. Anybody have any info on the game so far, other than the score?
  3. To Old Roman: Thomas is untradable for two reasons. One, he is a ten/five man so he can veto any trade he doesn't like. Two, who would take him, given his record since 2001? i.e. old, diminished skills, low average, not much power, slow, no defense, can't throw, can't run, can't slide, heavy contract for four more years (I think), and a reputation for disrupting things in the clubhouse. Of course, this is just my opinion; I could be wrong.
  4. Are Maggs and Bart even signable? We have two months to decide.
  5. Thomas and Konerko are untradable. We are stuck.
  6. A few days ago someone else on this board said, words to the effect, that Wally Backman will be in the bigs next year--Book IT. I have to agree. So sometime in the next week or three, we should hire him to finish 2003 and manage through 2004 so that he can determine who he even wants on this team, instead of trying to figure it out in ST next March. He probably has a better idea of who's worth keeping from our minor league teams. Bring up Capra next year as a coach, too.
  7. Don't assign lowpoints until there is no chance of going lower. Game 3 of the going lower series is today.
  8. JM missed his chance. He should have said, "Good pitching stops good hitting."
  9. Molto, the talent is not there. That is the whole problem.
  10. Is this from a truly astute observer of baseball talent?
  11. I don't think the Sox could hit Rick White.
  12. There have probably been 100 individual posts on this board about how talented the Sox are. Please stop saying that. This is NOT a talented baseball team.
  13. Rowand is hitting .230 at Charlotte as of 5-24.
  14. Where will Bart be pitching next year, and does Frank's contract take him to age 39 or 40?
  15. The D'backs love Overbay. Finley has got to be close to 40, undoubtedly over the hill, with a big time salary.
  16. Cliff Brumbaugh, who is too old for the White Sox, had a routine evening in a double header win for Charlotte. 4 for 6, 2 homers, 3 ribbies. Stats are now up to .352, .410 OBP, and .607 SLG.
  17. Parque made a lot of money. His pension plan is vested. He probably had a few laughs along the way, too. Don't feel so sorry for him.
  18. People thought Wade Boggs was too old and too slow when they finally brought him up after years in the minors, and he won a batting title in his rookie year. Edgar M. had the better part of three years in AAA, too. If you can hit .330 or thereabouts in AAA, you can't be too much of a slug.
  19. What do we do with Joe if he goes oh for thirty in the two weeks that Harris sits out?
  20. Can't trade Webster or Reed for a two month band aid. Just say no, Kenny.
  21. This call up actually is the second lost opportunity for Rowand. The first, of course, was when he was handed the starting job in ST, and the second was when he didn't hit well enough at Charlotte to take advantage of Harris' injury.
  22. I believe we have only 38 out of 40 spots filled right now.
  23. To those who responded to my original comments in this thread, please note that it was the most elementary form of analysis, but now I know a bit more about these guys than I did before. Thanks. Having said that, if Brumbaugh and/or Miles keep stinging the ball in the next three months, I would still like to see them in Chicago in September.
  24. After a very brief analysis of our four Minor League teams, all of whom have played about 45 games or so, it appears as if we have twelve legitimate hitting prospects. They comprise 7 OF, 1 C, 2 1B, and 2 2B. Brumbaugh, Scott .338 AAA Gload, Ross .311 Miles, Aaron .353 Acevas, Jon .299 AA Alvarez, Gabe .328 Bikowski, Scott .344 Holt, Daylon .301 A Martel, Norm .290 Reed, Jeremy .340 Yan, Ruddy .360 Reyes, Julio .331 Webster, Anthony .318 I'm sure we have a few more who are ticketed for Bristol and Great Falls. I have no idea what this proves.
  25. So what if e is hitting in the .180's. He makes a lot of errors, too.
