  1. Rex: Sorry, unable to get a link. I did not get the story off the internet; rather, it was in my morning paper. Then I tried to find it on the net, and the server was down. It was in today's Denver Post, under a section called AL Notes. It said, "Yankees minor league righthander Eddi Lantigua, acquired wwith Osuna from the White Sox, allowed three hits--including two infield singles--and struck out three over three scoreless innings in an extended spring training game against Philadelphia in Clearwater. Lantigua reported late because of visa problems." Best I can do. How would you rate him vs Cotts?
  2. What's wrong with hiring retreads? Joe Torre is a retread. So is Dusty Baker and Tony Dungy.
  3. Guerrier's AAA stats are the following: 4 games, 0-2, 5.68 ERA.
  4. In the words of the immortal Bob Ryan, somebody should smack Beane.
  5. The whole scenario makes sense. First game of home stand, etc. I'm sure one or both will go. They would not call a press conference for a hitting coach change. In the words of the immortal Bob Ryan, maybe Jerry Reinsdorf will smack KW, or maybe KW will smack JM.
  6. You might be right about Gammons. He still thinks Corwin Malone is the best pitching prospect we have.
  7. Great column in Tuesday's Sun-Times.
  8. Two more hits on Monday in a losing cause. Now hitting .355.
  9. 19 hits, 11 runs against the mighty Brewers. Clayton, by the way, is now under .250.
  10. Eddi Lantigua made the Denver papers today. He cleared up his visa problems and is working out at the Yank's spring training complex. Now, before he achieves inevitable stardom with the Yankees, was it KW's decision to throw him in the Colon trade, or did Cashman seek him?
  11. Would you trade Lee for Pierre?
  12. If the body is sick, cut off the head. Somebody said if the Sox go 0-6 or 1-5 on the last road trip, the axe has to fall. Well, they went 2-4. They need to score some runs off Baltimore this week.
  13. I know this is heresy coming from the oldest Sox fan on this board, but let's face it, this year, so far, the Scrubs are better than the Sox at every position. Maybe third base is a wash, only because Crede hasn't done much at all, and second base is about a wash, but every other position is all Scrubs, including pitching. I think I'm going to throw up.
  14. I've seen Pierre play a lot. Great kid/great hustle. But he is a defensive liability in Center. Really a poor arm. He would make a fine left fielder, however. I wouldn't mind him at DH either, if people could get out of the mind set of only having home run hitters as DH's.
  15. You might be right on trading PK and MB. Maybe the Dodgers would like to have Konerko back. And shortstop is a critical need for next year, unless they think they can re-sign Jose or make do with Jiminez in 2004. We have nobody in the minors who can step and play SS next year. If I were GM, I would be sniffing around the majors looking for an immediate SS prospect. If it takes Konerko to close the deal, go for it.
  16. Unless some team offers us a bucketful of prospects for Bartolo, I would not want to trade him if there is a reasonable chance that we could sign him. If we are going anywhere next year, we will need anace like Bart.
  17. Adkins had another rough outing Sunday for Charlotte. Was he scouted personally by KW?
  18. If the Sox don't bring up Miles this year, or at least promote him to the 40 man roster, then he will be a free agent, and I guarantee you some team will give him a chance. If one of Miles' teammates had his numbers, he would be moved up so fast it would make your head swim.
  19. In St. Louis his line drives were hit right at somebody.
  20. My understanding of the Thomas option is that if he has a good year, he can sell himself to the highest bidder. Otherwise, the Sox have him at some guaranteed amount.
  21. I had hoped Aaron would go down and tear the cover off the ball, and make us want to get him back. Hasn't happened.
  22. You are correct, CWS45. This is not a .500 team. We should get a very high draft pick in 2004.
  23. I didn't see today's game, but obviously White wasn't very effective. When we signed him, I made several negative posts and said that he creates line drives whenever he appears. I saw a lot of him last year in the National League, and it wasn't very pretty. Maybe the Cardinals will take him back. I would much rather have Foulke and Joe Valentine, myself.
  24. I would not want to be 16 and have KW really pissed at me. When they go to the woodshed, I bet Kenny will be doing most of the talking and swinging.
