  1. Great win for Bartolo. He shut them down after Ichiro's homer. The players showed some spirit. Big game tomarrow.
  2. It looks as if the two best hitters at Charlotte are Miles and Brumbaugh, and neither one is on the Sox 40 man roster.
  3. Thomas won't be released. Too big and too long of a contract. He has the options. Garland I bet is tradable. Isn't he eligible for arbitration next year? If he continues to be a .500 pitcher, the Sox won't want to go to arbitration. The temptation will be to trade if they can get anything.
  4. Joe Morgan has been offered all kinds of management jobs in baseball, and he turned them all down. I think he is doing exactly what he wants to do.
  5. Is he taking Beane with him to the graduation ceremony?
  6. Anytime anybody throws the race card out there, some s*** will stick on the wall. One thing that I know for certain is that, when KW was hired, all Sox fans wanted him to do well. He hasn't. I remember years and years ago, a baseball executive was interviewed and asked why more Blacks have not been hired for senior positions, and he said it might be because they would be very difficult to fire. Might still be true. I don't know JR's mindset on that issue, but I think I saw Jesse Jackson lurking around the corner.
  7. Is it possible to fire Williams, Manuel, and Ward simultaneously?
  8. Players have been booed at home when the ticket cost a buck and hotdogs 25 cents and parking was free.
  9. 2 for 3 for Brumbaugh, with a double. He's creeping up on .400. Hope I don't jinx him.
  10. Where did Brumbaugh come from? Is he on the 40 man roster? I think not, but don't know for sure.
  11. One more solic outing by Rauch, and you have consider bring him up.

Wrist injuries take a lot longer to heal.
  13. That's what the Sox had. Now we can start winning.
  14. 8-4 tonight. Do it again tomarrrow. You gotta believe.
  15. I don't want him unless he can HIT.
  16. Playoffs?...........PLAYOFFS????
  17. Frank was the best right handed hitter in the game over a five year or so period in the early to mid nineties. Time will tell if he will hurt his own legacy with sub par performances in 2002-2003, and possibly beyond.
  18. I think Jeff Kent won (one) it two years ago and Barry had two other MVP's years ago. I hope your teacher is not a Cub fan.
  19. I hate the Quit word, but I agree with what you said.
  20. To SI1020: You are correct in your comment about Pierce not playing in the 1959 World Series. It probably hurt Pierce more than he let on to you, although I can't say for sure, because I wasn't there. But starting Early Wynn in Game 6 with 2 days rest and not playing Pierce AT ALL in the entire series was poor judgment. Of course, Early got hit hard in game 6 and we lost by a huge number. If Pierce pitches and wins Game 6, it would have set up a Koufax/Wynn game 7. We were the best team in baseball that year and played like s*** in the Series.
  21. No ONE player is the answer. I doubt if any moves will be made before the end of this road trip. After that, we should have two regulars hitting under .200 (Thomas and Lee) and we will have witnessed a few more botched plays in the field. If we go either 0-6 or 1-5, some moves will have to be made. I have gone from being impatient, to being pissed, to now feeling sorry for these guys. I hope Miles continues hitting in Charlotte, to force that decision, if nothing else. Once we hit bottom, we will look for places to regain our enthusiasm. Loaiza Reallllllly needs to pitch well tonight.
  22. Frank is now hitting .226. If he goes oh for 12 he will be down to an even .200.
  23. How can it be good? We are stuck for two years.
  24. Supernuke: Why would the Padres even think of trading Klesko for Thomas?
