  1. Brewers brought him up today to take Ritchie's roster spot.
  2. Can he hit well enough to start in Charlotte?
  3. There is apositive here. Buerhle will not be able to command as much at arbitration next year.
  4. I agree, Rex. If he does well, then we can realistically look for him to be in Chitown in 2004-2005.

Thomas is untradable. No team would take him. Probably the same for Koch, with his new contract.
  6. They are a below average offensive team, period. Get used to it.
  7. Who cares if a player is gay or not? As long as he can hit and votes Republican. That's all that is important.
  8. Is there any truth to the rumor that Kenny W is going to name is next child "Todd?"
  9. Ritchie was placed on the DL today by the Brewers due to shoulder injury. Brewers are lucky they didn't give up two quality young pitchers for him.
  10. Plus, he is waaaaaay over-rated as a relief pitcher. He had some terrible outings the last half of 2002, and has been hit hard this year, and he gets over $ 3 Million per. Why the Rockies picked up his option, I'll never understand, but they did not ask me for advice.
  11. Some players progress faster if they are given better competition. Webster might be that way. If he continues his hot hitting into mid-May, I would recommend promoting him to Winston-Salem. If he goes up the minor league ladder one level a year, then it's a six year run for him before he plays for the Sox. If Holt goes to Birmingham, someone has to fill that spot. Might as well be young Anthony.
  12. I noticed that everyone's favorite "Young" prospect, Anthony Webster, is now turning it on after a slow start at Kannapolis. His average is now over .300 (.313) for the first time this year. If he is the real deal, we should move him up a notch soon. Daylon Holt is hitting a ton at Winston-Salem. I'd like to see him go back to Birmingham to make room for Webster. Move both of them up.
  13. I didn't see the fifth inning triple that Singleton hit over Rowand's head. Did he really tattoo it, or was it catchable? That was the key hit of the game.
  14. Would you believe that Butter pitched seven innings, giving up one run and five hits? Joe B. was oh for four. Sox won late on Harris and Miles home runs. Porzio ad Diaz pitched well.
  15. I think the bullpen will get better, if for no other reason that JM will stop giving the ball to Koch in the ninth with a 1-2 run lead. Someone else will get it. How could you possibly have confidence in Koch untill he has some success in mop up relief roles? And, have you noticed Rick White has not worked much lately? No confidence there either. If he doesn't get in the game, he can't hurt us. I think our biggest problem is the lack of clutch hitting. We've had several tight games where we get runners on, but whoever comes up cannot drive them in.
  16. I don't think it is subject to anti-trust laws since it is covered in a collective bargaining agreement. The owners just don't have the ovaries to stand up to the player's union.
  17. When are the stupid, cowardly owners going to insist that guys from Japan and other countries go through a draft, just like American kids? I cannot believe that they did not accomplish this at last year's negotiations.
  18. I bet that Pacheco will be included in our next "Top 30 Prospects." Does anybody know when this is coming out?
  19. Nelson was with Seattle through much of the early nineties. He was traded to the Yanks with Tino Martinez 5-6 years ago for third baseman Russ Davis. There was a 2-3 year period when the Seattle bullpen was the worst. I would not be surprised if they set the record.
  20. I just read where Jim Parque is starting against our Charlotte team tonight (Tuesday).
  21. What's the record for Blown Saves in a season?
  22. They still shouldn't let him breed, and his girlfriend should drop him like a hot potato, unless, of course, he gets a TV show, book deal, and additional fame.
  23. Millwod threw a no no today vs the Giants. He was really throwing some heat at the end. Big time movement on his fastball.
  24. We don't have league offices anymore. All the umps are together in one big family.
  25. I couldn't find it either. Charlotte was rained out again Saturday night. Twice in a row.
