  1. Affeldt on the DL -- blister.
  2. How about Varella and Brice from kannapolis? Thanks.
  3. Mike, do you know where we can get batting stats for the season?
  4. Prediction: Another horrrrrible outing by Koch + Dan Wright's return = Koch to the DL.
  5. I have to choose from among three sports events, all at exactly the same time: 1. Go see the Avs beat the Wild in the series clinching fifth game in a luxury suite with some of my best buddies, for free; 2. Go to the the University of Colorado Spring football Scrimmage with some of my best buddies, for free; 3. Watch the Sox thump the Tribe on WGN alone, for free.
  6. Attendance was 39,000. (in KC).
  7. Rex, who do you think are the best two or three prospects on that team? Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Ruddy/Edwin Yan is promoted from the Warthogs. Soon. Maybe Jeremy Reed, too. That would liven things up for the Barons.
  8. Jiminez had another strong game Friday. Hate to be his lone supporter on this thread, but..........
  9. Good report. Now, my question is whether or not the manager, hitting coach, or anybody gets in Carlos' face and tells him what he is doing wrong. It doesn't look like it.

His stock will go up if he signs Buerhle to a long term deal.
  11. When I started this thread 71 posts ago, I thought many of us would look upon this as a cheap shot on one of our players, and come to the defense of DJ. No one has looked at it that way. I'm surprised. I wish I knew more about how Jiminez handles himself in the clubhouse with his teammates. I haven't seen any overt signs of animosity, unless I'm too blind to the obvious.
  12. Ain't gonna happen. Valentine thinks he is worth $ 3 Million/year. He's such a face man. Thinks his smile can solve any problem. We're better off keeping JM.
  13. The only way they would be able to trade Carlos for a meaningful player is if Pete Gammons buys a team and installs himself as GM.
  14. A big test is how his arm feels the next day. Hopefully, we will get a follow-up report.

Tim Kurkjian made the following comment in the current issue of ESPN- The Ragazine: "The Chisox have to kick 2B D'Angelo Jiminez in the butt every day to make him play hard." (page 104). This smacks of s***ty journalism at its worst. I can't believe that there is any validity here.
  16. Interesting. My first reaction, after looking at Biddle's stats, is to ask why his manager would leave him in so long when he obviously didn't have it? Five walks and two hits in 1.3 innings. If JM leaves Botch in like that, I would be as pissed at the manager as at the pitcher. Now that you mention it, he did leave him in far too long on his first blown save.
  17. If Botch has another blow-up in the next 30 days, I predict that Flash will have a much more important bullpen role.
  18. Was Borchard riding a dirt bike?

Watch out. Botch is well rested for Cleveland.
  20. Thanks, Chris. I can spell, but I can't type. The "u" and the "y" are right next to each other.
  21. Who hired Nardi?
  22. Holt hit a home run in his first game with Winston Salem.
  23. I noticed the Sox Web Page does not show stats of minor leaguers. Is SoxNet going to do this on a regular basis? Hope so.
  24. I saw this kid's name on the Bobby Howry newspaper article post. He was a number one draft choice of the Sox several years ago, and he achieved some notariety. The Sox, in their infinite wisdom, failed to offer this kid a contract within the prescribed time, and he was declared a free agent and got a huge contract from Tampa. I was out of the country in those days. Did this create much of an uproar in Chicago at the time? Did any heads roll?
  25. The best on-the-field retribution I ever saw happened many years ago when a Baltimore Colt linebacker named Mike Curtis really tattooed the idiot who ran on the field. Can't remember when, but I'm sure it was in the 1970's.
