  1. I haven't heard the Yankees b****ing about it.
  2. It just got worse. Cameron with a three run triple in the second. Stewart is making the decision verrrrry easy about who goes down if and when Wright comes up. He gets three balls on almost every hitter, and is useless against right handed hitters. He has no business as a starting pitcher in the big leagues. No Business. He should never be anything more that a left handed mop up guy. He looks like Jim Parque with whiskers. By the way, what is the over/under on runs allowed when he pitches? No stuff at all. Just a hump back curve. Why won't JM take him out of there. Show some mercy. This is the second time I have seem him pitch; I hope it's the last.
  3. They are now 3-24. Tied for worst record in first 24 games. They will be due for a winning streak about that time.

    BA

Three out of 100. Next year Webster will be there.
  5. I bet Willie got to Chicago faster than Aaron got to Charlotte.
  6. I have never been a fan of pitchers yelling at managers when they are removed from the game, especially when it's right out in the open. If you show up the manager, you show up the whole team. Same rule applies to any position, but it is much more obvious when the pitcher is given the hook. I didn't see the Koch tirade from Thursday night, but from the reports, I can pretty well visualize it. Now that it has happened, I would love to know what went on in the clubhouse afterward, whether or not coaches intervened, etc. The manager has to be the boss, end of story. There were two incidents last year (Milwaukee, Tampa) when the pitcher openly challenged the manager, and both times the skipper got right in the pitcher's face(s). If anybody gets any inside dope on what happened behind the scenes, I would love to hear about it.
  7. As I said somewhere else, I don't think Koch should have been there in the first place. Flash was pitching great, so leave him in and get the win. Marte would have been my second choice. For my money, Koch is no longer the closer. He has to win the job back. Now, given his history as a pretty fair closer, it wouldn't take too many good outings to give him back that role, but in the meantime he should be given less crucial roles. Having said that, JM did show some ovaries by taking him out (finally) in the ninth, unlike those other games where he just left Koch in until it was over and lost.
  8. I hope Aaron gets over his disappointment, works his butt off, hustles, and does well right away. Otherwise, he might represent a repeat of the Jeff Abbott saga. Both of those guys are too good not to have decent major league careers. Still not too late for Rowand.
  9. What's the latest on Bounds? I think he was hurt early in the year, and I haven't seen his name anywhere until a recent post from JimH.
  10. Flash is going to have a big role on this team. This was a big time performance, if I read the summary correctly.
  11. Sending him down is best for the Sox AND for Rowand. He might get himself straightened out and tear up AAA.
  12. I gotta wonder why they leave the kid in so long. Of course, I didn't see the game, don't know if the hits were liners or bleeders, ........
  13. Uh, what was Koch doing there in the first place? We are desperate for the win, the choices to me were either leave Flash in or bring in Marte.
  14. Anyone know any details? I got an update on ESPN: 7-5 in the seventh or so. Saw a few highlights. What happened after that. Tks.
  15. Ahhh, Will Cordero. I had almost forgotten about him. I do not understand how he can still be in the majors. He was the absolute worst defensive player I have ever seen in the majors. (I am refering to his stint with the Sox). Did any of you guys see that interview he did shortly after he beat up his wife while with Boston? It was the epitome of denial. Shortly thereafter, the Sox signed him. He is probably Lugo's role model.
  16. It's the "Wake Up Call" syndrome (WUCS). Happens all the time in pro sports when a talented team is playing s***ty. Too many players are too comfortable with JM. They need to be disturbed a little. JMO, I could be wrong.
  17. His timing was lousy. He is not yet vested in his pension plan. He might have trouble getting picked up, unless the Sox take a flier on him for hext year, since Jose is in his last year. I don't know how these guys can be so stupid to do something like this in broad daylight at the stadium parking lot. It's the single dumbest thing I have heard of since Rowand did his dirt bike thing last winter. RE: Sammie. I did not know that little tidbit about him. Same wife as now?
  18. Another reason for sending Webster, Yan, and Honel up to Birmingham is that Rex would be scouting them for us and reporting to us via SoxNet.
  19. I remember Les Moss when he was a third string catcher for the Sox in the 50's. Wonder whatever happened to him. I had forgotten that he was skipper of the Tigers for a while.
  20. Another guy they should move up the ladder is Ruddy Yan, second baseman for Winston-Salem. He's hitting .333, 16 steals, and he played at W-S last year. He could probably help Birmingham.
  21. She probably criticized either his hitting or his driving.
  22. I don't believe Burke was "out" while a player, at least not publicly, but his teammates must have known, because he was effectively blackballed from the game. That's my recollection.
  23. Pardon me for getting away from the philosophical aspect of this thread, but Todd Jones gave another interview to a Denver station Wednesday, and he stood by his views as originally stated, but he regretted saying anything in a public forum, or words to that effect. The only openly gay player that I know of was Glen Burke. Any others? Burke is equally famous for having invented the "high five." He was a pretty good centerfielder for a while.
