  1. I agree. Excessive substitutions aren't going to be the answer to the Sox problems. Crede needs to play. Of course, now that I said that, Graffy will hit for the cycle. Daubach should play, however. That was a great hit he had yesterday with the bags loaded, even though it only scored one run. It was actually a clutch hit, not counting bases empty home runs as clutch hits. They have been few and far between this year.
  2. If he has a sore arm, then it was really dumb to bring him in with a five run lead. I'll be interested to hear what your source says about his arm.
  3. That homer he gave up in the ninth was a classsic Chinese Home Run -- just inside the pole and barely over the fence. If we hadn't moved the fences in last year, it would have been a harmless double. Plus, they got four outs that inning.
  4. How many teams in the majors would have Aaron Rowand be their starting centerfielder? If he were sent down to Charlotte, he shouldn't start there either.
  5. So one of my best pals here in Denver is a Cub fan and he rents a luxury suite at Coors Field to see his Cubbies play the Rockettes tonight, and he invites me and twelve of his Cub Fan buddies, and I have to watch them beat the s*** out of the Rockettes while seeing the Sox scores get posted every inning.
  6. Correctomundo. Buerhle has had four day's rest.

    Wow

The whole attitude is a reflection on the manager. The team is waiting to fail. If the Twins blow us out this weekend, it'll probably be too late to fix, and it's still April. Buerhle needs to step up tonight, and SOMEBODY needs to get a clutch hit.
  8. That might be the point, Clujer. The offense died after the third, as if we don't need any more runs, because we have a two run lead. That mentality to NOT put the inferior team away starts with the manager. What did you see in JM's manner, or what do you ever see in JM's manner that leads you to believe that he is trying to lead his team to put the other team away. Compare him to the way Tony Pena manages and leads his team. You can read his body language like a book. As for his bullpen choices, it seems that he just makes the wrong choices too many times.
  9. Sox up 4-2 in the third. Don't have any details.
  10. The Sox must really like Yofu to push him up the ladder so quickly. Wonder if he will assume the closer role over Almonte, who has seven saves so far.
  11. Borchard played last night (Wed). 0 for 4.
  12. He did sue Christiansen, and he got a decent settlement after Christiansen signed with the Cubs and got his bonus. He was tossed out of the game, no other punitive action. Just the civil lawsuit.
  13. I just noticed that Drew Henson is hitting a smooth .175 at Columbus. Played in every game, too.
  14. Did you notice that the above bio of Osuna listed him at 160 lbs? Gotta be 40-50 pounds off. If he is really hurt, maybe Fast Kenny can engineer a trade with the Bombers. Give them a reliever for one of their stud minor league outfielders. You know, really out-smart his counterpart while they are vulnerable.
  15. Would that cause a reduction in ticket prices?
  16. Baggs, you forgot one other stat: LOSSES
  17. It looks as if Aaron Miles has re-established himself in the Knights' lineup. He played both games of a double header and went two for six. Harris went a smooth 4 for seven in both games in center. Still no Joe B.
  18. I beg to differ. Check out their ERA's and Blown Saves.
  19. Foulke had his first Blown Save Tuesday night against the Tigers. Oakland still won the game, however.
  20. The current thread on Joe Borchard's injury got me thinking about humorous injuries. There's been a bunch of them. Farnsworth punting a baseball and hurting his foot qualifies. Another involved an ex-Cub, outfielder Henry Cotto. He was sitting on the bench cleaning his ears with Q-Tips, went too far and punctured an ear drum, thus landing on the DL. If you have any, let's hear them.
  21. The worst "headhunter" in baseball is Roger Clemens. Yet he is revered and respected at all times.
  22. We have some serious holes in the lineup that will become even more apparent as the season gets longer. Two of them I did not expect, namely Garland and Koch. They will continue getting the ball, so they have the potential of burying us. I don't know if Manuel has the gonads to make Koch a mop up guy, but if he blows a couple more games this month, there is trouble in River City. I say this in terms of wins and losses, morale, etc. As an aside, I don't think there is any doubt that Foulke is more dependable than Koch. At the end of last season I was probably as big a Rowand booster as there is on this board. Not any more. He looks lost at the plate. I don't buy that "still recovering from the dirt bike" routine. If he is sub par either physically or mentally, send him down until he is okay. Rios, for all his early success, is not a big time center fielder. I call center field a big hole in the line up. And then there is DH. I have felt for two years or so that Frank is done as a big time slugger. I keep hoping that I am wrong, but I don't see it happening with Frank. We will know for sure in six weeks, however. He will continue to play, I am sure. In six weeks he will get about 150 plate appearances or so, and if he is still hitting like he has been so far, then DH will remain a big hole in the lineup. I don't know if Manuel has the gonads to sit Frank for an extended period of time. It lreally hurts the team if he doesn't hit while occupying the three hole in the lineup. I hope that Garland, Koch, Rowand, and Thomas all prove me wrong. I'll be glad to eat crow if they break out and perform well. Maybe they just need some warm weather.
  23. How did our future savior hurt his right wrist? Wasn't a dirt bike incident, was it?
  24. I hope Rowand reads this thread. He needs to know that he needs to produce. If he continues to flounder at the plate for another 2-4 weeks, or whatever length of time, and then goes to Charlotte and hits .230 or whatever, his big league career might be severely damaged. And not just with us. He better wake up, and soon.
