  1. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) It seems like almost every good pitch they are getting is fouled off or grounded right to someone so far.. The main reason I'm still optimistic, outside of the fact that we still have a great pitching staff with 158 games left, is that the 3 games we've lost have been really flukey. The Indians and Twins have hit the ball hard about 5 times in our 3 losses combined where as we seem to be hitting balls hard right at guys. Now to be fair, guys like Teahen and Pierre look absolutely horrible and have yet to hit a ball hard, but there's 7 other guys in the lineup.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:21 AM) The problem isn't getting on-base, it's what we do when we get on-base. We bunt, we don't hit, we run ourselves out of innings. Ozzieball is going to be the death of us. .316 team OBP, 22nd in the MLB. EDIT: That was through 3 games. Including tonight, .323 team OBP, last in the AL. .188 team average, also last in the AL.
  3. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:21 AM) Just because they aren't swinging at bad pitches doesn't necessarily mean they aren't taking the right approach at the ones they are swinging at.. if that makes any sense.. Exactly. It's nice to see them taking close pitches, but that only goes so far. When you're getting good pitches to hit and you're fouling them off or grounding out, something is wrong. I've gotta say, despite his .200 average, I'm loving what I'm seeing from Rios. He's hitting the ball hard and being a lot more selective.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:19 AM) The Sox are second in MLB in BB with 24. The approach hasn't been that bad. They've shown some good plate discipline overall, but if you wanna talk about skewed numbers, that would be it. Carmona accounts for 25% of those walks, and the majority of the rest is against the amazing Indians pitching staff.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:14 AM) Nix hits the crap out of lefty's. Yeah, it's Ozzies fault. .225/.303/.435/.738 doesn't exactly scream "hits the crap out of lefty's" but I stand corrected, I thought he was better vs RHP for some reason. Either way, he's not very good either.
  6. QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) Oh too slow. Anyways its early in the season but the mental mistakes and lack of solid plate approach, combined with some real questionable managing, have got me pretty disheartened about this season. You know, I hate to bring it up, but what exactly is Greg Walker doing? Basically everyone but Beckham and Rios has a horrible approach at the plate. They're all lunging for pitching. Quentin did it multiple times, Jones did it, Pierre's been doing it. They're rolling over on everything on the outer half and grounding out weakly. And even when they're taking pitches, they're so far out in front. Sit back and shoot the ball the other way, it's not a very hard concept.
  7. I would love to see someone measure the correlation of temperature to runs scored for the White Sox.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:40 PM) He's responsible for Pierre and the lack of Jim Thome. That's saying ALOT. Not to mention, today's lineup had Vizquel in it too...part of Ozzie's brilliant plan. The alternative was playing Nix or Teahen vs a lefty in Liriano? Not Ozzie's fault.
  9. The Bulls do not deserve to make the playoffs. Losing twice to the Nets? Disgusting.
  10. I hate teams like this. Either be good or be bad. It's frustrating as hell watching this freakin' team.
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 01:11 AM) Ya he missed a couple of short shots he usually is money in. (loved the intensity he showed when he hit that horrid shot into the crowd but came back from it) Still not completely there mentally which is just scary to think about when he's only 2 shots behind Couples. I think it was 14 when he pulled the iron way left of the green and dropped his club. Twitter immediately exploded with a bunch of crap about "same old Tiger" and people being general idiots. I hate humanity sometimes.
  12. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) Ryan Howard isn't there. Neither is Albert Pujols. Would you like to talk about their games? WOW, I must have pissed the portion of the off-season when the White Sox had the ability to improve their lineup by adding either Pujols or Howard.
  13. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 01:00 AM) He looked outstanding yesterday. Dude shot 2 eagles and he never did that before in the Masters. This guy was out what 180+ days of golf action and is still only 2 behind the leader. Simply the best. He was on top of his game most of the day, but his putting and short game clearly wasn't where it needed to be. With that said, he's still freaking amazing, and that 5 iron shot he curled on the 9th hole was one of the best shots I've ever seen. His tee shot on 12 was spectacular too. I personally want him to win by 20 strokes.
  14. I regularly eat Special K Fruit and Yogurt, Honey Nut Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs, Frosted Mini Wheats, Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies, and Corn Pops. I freakin' love cereal.
  15. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:13 PM) Come on, it's like some of you guys have never experienced a baseball season before. We have played less than 2% of the games so far. Well, when you're witnessing the same s*** that frustrated everyone from last season, it's hard to be optimistic.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) Slav. When you're right, you're right. I'm not sure if you're being facetious cecious or not. But when you lose 2 straight to the f***ing Indians with the crap pitching staff they're running out, and you can muster 8 hits in 20 innings, I'm not going to blame 2 f***ing bunts on the 2 losses.
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) Gordon Beckham is the 2nd best hitter on this ballclub. He should not be bunting. It's not that hard to grasp. Thank you, Captain Obvious. When did I ever say that Beckham should have bunted? I think it's a horrible idea. But that's not why we're losing. Like I said, we have 8 hits AS A TEAM in what is now 19.1 innings. Those 2 bunts aren't the reason we're losing.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) And bunting isn't going to help your offense. That's two outs we shouldn't have given up. 8 hits in 19 innings against the Indians pitching staff. Stop.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:02 PM) I've never seen Konerko score from 1st on a double. To be fair, Quentin bobbled it against the wall.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) My eyes say you tell lies. You kidding me?
  21. I like how the main excuse is Beckham bunting twice. We've scored 3 runs in back to back games against the f***ing Indians.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) Pierre, Beckham, Jones/Kotsay, Rios, Ramirez? That's 5 spots that can genuinely run. Quentin can score from 1st on a double while healthy. I have no clue on Teahen. Konerko and Pierzynski are slow, but come on, Hafner? Redmond/The other guy? Pierre is visibly slower than he used to be. Beckham only has decent speed. Jones/Kostay? You serious? Rios and Ramirez I'll give you. But at the same time, you have to get on base. And really? You counter with Hafner and Redmond?
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) Seemingly yes, considering how vehemently you're disagreeing, and I don't think I'm wrong. Choo, Brantley, Sizemore, Valbuena, Cabrera > White Sox
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:52 PM) Do you actually think the Indians have more speed than the Sox? Are you high?
