  1. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) Because there's a much greater chance he joins Wade in Miami than coming to Chicago, because he has a superstar to play with. Of course if Miami signs Amare instead, that's all moot. Rose is good, but he's not at that level yet. I'm not wholly buying that argument yet. Bosh made it clear he want's to be "the man." Now whatever that means to him is irrelevant, because Miami or Chicago, he won't be "the man" but he'd be more prominent in Chicago, no doubt.
  2. Ramon Castro pulled from the game against Texas, looking at his ankle or foot maybe? Not sure what happened.
  3. KC 1-0 in the first. Leadoff triple for Dejesus, Hudson got the next 2 outs before Guillen doubled to deep CF. Meier then gets a double to score Guillen, 2-0 KC. Betemit's bloop single scores Meier, 3-0. Pierre, Beckham, and Rios go 1-2-3 vs Texas.
  4. Looks like it's actually Hudson starting against KC.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) What network is it? Fox Sports Southwest? Yup.
  6. I heart MLBTV. I get to watch both these games.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 27, 2010 -> 08:09 PM) Made my Major League Debut vs. the Indians in 2012 season on OPENING DAY. I was surprised they gave it to a rookie over Peavy, but my overall bar is almost full right now. I threw a complete game, shutout with 8 K's, 0 BB. Allowed 8 hits, but 3 of those came in the 8th and 9th inning. I killed it. You should probably up your difficulty a little bit. How exactly is it fun for you if you haven't given up a run since you were in AA?
  8. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) They do, but don't the Tigers use navy as well? Side note: The Rockies win for utilizing purple. Yes, Detroit uses navy as well.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 01:13 PM) How do we spot fakes in general? any tips? QUOTE (Soxpride724 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) There are a couple of things you can look for. The first thing is sizing, Majestic authentics run sizes as follows: L-44 XL-48 XXL-52 The bootlegs run a size higher than that: M-48 L-50 (There is no size 50 with genuine authentics) XL-52 The other thing to look out for is the material, they appear to be more "Shiny" than the regular polyester that Majestic uses, anyone that has bought a bootleg outside of the ball park will know what I am talking about. Another red flag is the MLB logo on the back of the jersey, the White Sox do not use a red, white and blue MLB logo on the back of their jerseys, it is silver, black and white. And finally, check the letters on the back of the jersey. Fakes are spaced closer than authentics. Whenever in doubt, pull up a photo on the White Sox website or Grandstand, and compare it with what you are looking at on ebay. Those are all pretty spot on. Another thing to look for is the size/thickness of the font used for the numbers and lettering. If you know the White Sox jerseys well enough, spotting fakes is easy. Often times the lettering will be extremely thick or much thinner than usual. Another is the spacing of the numbers and letters, as Soxpride said. If they're unusually far apart or stacked right next to each other, its not authentic. Also, if the names are VERY curved around the numbers, it's probably a fake. This happens a lot with Pierzynski jerseys I see on eBay. Another tell is the patches on the sleeves. The Sox use the diamond Sox logo on their left sleeve on the road greys and alternate blacks. Lastly, pay attention to the trim around the names and letters. The White Sox jerseys have multi-colored trim. For instance, the alternate black jerseys have white letters with a black outline and a grey trim. The road grey jerseys are black with a white outline, and the home white jerseys have black letters/numbers with grey trim. If all else fails, just give it the Google test. Here's an example of a pretty good fake: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Mark-Buehrle-White...8#ht_500wt_1182 You'll notice the shinier fabric, especially on the sleeve patch. It's also a size 50, which doesn't exist. The numbering/letting is pretty damn good, but it's not authentic. Notice the difference between the numbering on the right chest? The jersey on eBay has much thinner numbering.
  10. I'm upset Miss St didn't make it. I really love watching them. Illinois? Did they deserve it? Probably. But if you took care of business like you should have, it wouldn't have been a problem. And I like the Illini, but they frustrate the hell out of me.
  11. You've got to be careful on eBay. It's pretty easy to spot fakes. Often times, you get what you pay for.
  12. My brain shut down when I saw Lebron and Steroids. I literally let out a huge "No f***ing way!" Got me.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) What do people think? To me it is the ultimate sign of respect to show your excitement and energy for the national anthem and the US flag. This is an arena that also cheers wildly anytime a member of our military is shown, so it isn't like they are just picking the anthem to be a part of. http://blog.mlive.com/ottoman-empire/2010/..._has_to_go.html Here's a little tip for the future: IGNORE MLIVE.
  14. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) Grown men wearing shirts with other grown men's names on them is strange/creepy/sorry. When you get your driver's license you should have to turn in your jerseys. Then there's a s***-ton of strange/creepy men at baseball games.

    MLB 10: The Show

My hitter in RTTS has advanced much quicker. 1st season, I was in AA, hit .324. Played all of my 2nd season at AAA, hit .265 but had 2 different injuries that put me on the DL. Ended the season strong. Got traded in the middle of season 2 from the A's to the Blue Jays. I got offered an MLB contract to be a backup 1B/3B for the Blue Jays to start season 3 so I took it obviously. My first ML hit was a hard hit single the 3B couldn't corral off AJ Burnett. My contact and power have developed nicely. I'm working my way up to try and become the full-time 1B. For some reason, I can't hit the no-name guys, but I generally do well against the top guys. I slam King Felix and Josh Beckett regularly. And I went 3-4 off CC the only time I've faced him. I'm becoming very good at hitting, primarily down in the zone. I always guess low fastball, and if it isn't a fastball, I know to wait on the off-speed pitch. My wheelhouse is definitely down. If someone hangs a curveball around the knees, I crush it.
  16. I bought a black Shingo Takatsu authentic jersey in the off-season after 2004. Got like $40 for it on eBay. I've stuck to jersey-shirts since then. $20-$30, still fashionable, much more cost-efficient and replaceable. The only jersey I have is an authentic Paul Konerko one I got on eBay for $18. A touch small, but I love it.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) Honestly, it would be boring if you dominated at every level and made the pros in a year. Usually it takes my guy 3-4 seasons to ever make the bigs. I had a career last year that took me like 5 seasons, and then I get traded and sent down to AAA again. I know what you mean. I don't expect to dominate every single outing, but these bad stretches just seem so forced by the AI. Anyway, I started a 2nd RTTS as a 1B/3B. Playing pretty well so far. It's actually helped me improved my hitting and defense.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) I bet players in real life get frustrated a lot, too. It's all part of the game. Ya, you're probably right. The game is just that real. Baseball in real life is very repetitive.

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) if you dont add points to certain abilities for over 30 days you will start to regress in that category. I'm stabilized or increasing in all categories. I meant overall as a player, he's regressing despite his ratings improving.
  20. Paulie lines a high fastball into CF on 2-0, Quentin hustles around to score on a good throw. 1-0 Sox, PK to 2nd.
  21. Quentin with a 2 out double, a line shot over Kearns in RF.
  22. Looks a lot like what our lineup will look like this season: Pierre LF Beckham 2B Quentin RF Konerko 1B Pierzynski C Rios CF Kotsay DH Ramirez SS Teahen 3B

RTTS is really starting to frustrate me. For no apparent reason, my guy seems to be regressing. It's become impossible to avoid the big innings and if I give up another double under the 1B/3B glove I'm going to flip s***.
  24. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) Hey, that song by Smak is pretty cool. I'd never heard of them. I'm guessing that's from the '80s?? Ya, most of their stuff came from the 70's and 80's. Probably the most famous rock band from former Yugoslavia.
  25. Rick Ross - Hustin' (First 30 seconds or so, used it in HS when batting and pitching) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPVNHMjedfk Smak - Entering the Harem (Serbian band, starting at 0:41) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhepLrdyCo4 Kanye West - Homecoming (Love the song, great intro) Metallica - One (After the song speeds up + solo, 4:33 on)
