Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) Too be fair our last 2 basketball coaches have been hacks that have no business in running a team. Skiles was a good coach but it also is easy to understand a player having a confrontation with him. When three coaches don't like you, no matter what the issue is, there's a problem. Because no matter what, they've put the work in to get to the position that they have and they are your superiors. PERIOD. Tyrus doesn't seem to understand where his place on the totem pole is. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 12:45 PM) Honestly, how many here haven't wanted to unleash a profanity-laden rant at VDN several times in the past 1.5 years? It blows my freaking mind how much you back Tyrus Thomas up. It's disgusting. You will come up with any reason possible to defend him. Let's compare him to Kobe Bryant and blame ALL THREE coaches instead of the actual player for being a selfish piece of s*** with no talent. Jesus flippin Christ. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) You're 100% right. And also I think it's 100% accurate to also say that Tyrus Thomas never got over being basketball retarded with a terrible attitude/work ethic because the coaches preferred benching him to teaching him anything. Oh my God. What don't you understand? You aren't GIVEN minutes because you can jump 45 inches of the ground. It doesn't work that way. He's lazy, he has no actual basketball skills, and he's selfish. I can't begin to count the number of times I've seen him get pissed off on the court because he didn't get the ball 20 feet from the basket, then jog his way around the court for the rest of the game. He's a terrible player, and he's selfish, and he doesn't work hard. Trust me, I'd be quick to defend him if he loved the game and worked his ass off to get those minutes. But he doesn't. And if you're going to keep blaming it on the coaches, then you (and everyone else who backs Tyrus up) are blind, because we've seen it on THIS VERY TEAM that if you work hard, you play. See: Noah, Joakim. It's called passion, it's called work ethic. And most of all, its called integrity. GMAFB. Get Thomas out of my f***ing face. -
I'm kinda surprised I got nominated. I haven't done any graphic stuff on ST in a long time. Hell, I have sigs/avys turned off lol. I voted for Steve.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/morrissey/2...issey01.article Great write up. While I agree that hockey fans could very well be the snobbiest of them all, I think he really does the sport an injustice by simplifying it the way he does.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) It reminds me a bit of Utley's. And i never thought Utley's swing would cut it in the major leagues, so i've been wrong before. The 2 things that bother me about his swing are the lunge and the toe-tap. The thing about the toe-tap is that it's currently helping him, but in the future it'll probably hurt him. Against inferior pitching, it's going to help prevent his hips from flying open (kind of counter-acting the lunge) since he basically shows the bottom of his foot to the pitcher, but when they bust him inside (which people now are probably scared to do), he'll have a much tougher time.

QUOTE (3E8 @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) His swing looked like Ichiro's during that HR It's because he lunges at every pitch. He's got a nice swing, but that's not going to fly in near future.

Beasley was ALWAYS considered the better and more developed player coming out of college. The consensus was that Beasley would be better early but Rose had the higher potential for the long term. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 02:45 AM) ESPN just said something interesting. The Bulls are the first team (in NBA history) to win 5 straight games against 5 winning opponents. No s***? That has to be on the road. Even then it sounds off. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 02:46 AM) I'd take Stoudemire, in a deal that sent Phoenix Thomas and Deng (might need to throw in a first rounder). If there were enough cap space (and if I learned how the Bird Rule works) , then the Bulls could sign Rudy Gay for the SF role. Not sure if that works money-wise, but it'd certainly be awesome. Rose/Hinrich/Gay/Stoudemire/Noah is sick. -

I played Uncharted 2 a bit and I must say, as far as graphics and story go, this game is absolutely stunning. The gameplay is awesome as well, but my only complaint is how difficult it can be to navigate and/or figure out what the hell to do sometimes. I've found myself walking around for minutes on end not having the slightest clue of how or what to do. I'm really liking my PS3 so far. I loved my 360, but the Blu Ray/free online capabilities/WiFi makes it a fantastic piece of equipment. I own 3 games: Uncharted 2, NHL 10, and Gran Turismo 5 and it's pretty badass. Takes a while to get used to the controller having played 360 for so long, but getting there.

Watched Adventureland the other night. It wasn't at ALL what I was expecting, but a decent flick.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) I can't believe noone (that I know of) mentioned Hayden Panettiere. Thats because she's one of the hottest women on the planet. What I can't believe is that no one has said a name from Jersey Shore yet...

Anyone interested in buying an Xbox 360? I'm selling mine. I have 2 controllers and HD cables and a bunch of games.

Didn't all our games start at 7:05 before the 7-11 deal?

If anyone is interested at all (and it'd be a great help), I've started a new blog as part of my Sports Marketing class. I'll basically be posting thoughts about current events in sports, and there will be a lot of videos and stuff about the good and bad of broadcasting. There is sure to be a lot about Hawk... http://slavssportsworld.blogspot.com/

Who is your favorite MLB team outside the Sox?
SoxFan1 replied to Marky Mark's topic in The Diamond Club
Giants and Mariners. I've always liked the Giants. Everything from their logo to their jersey to a good number of their players. And the Mariners love stems back to Randy Johnson/Ken Griffey. And I've also always been a fan of their logo and Junior made the backwards fitter cap the coolest thing in the world to me. I also actually like our north-side counterparts...the Brewers. -
Anyone use it or have a profile? It seems like it could be one hell of a tool for people looking for work/services, so I figured I'd see if anyone on SoxTalk had one...

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time for change. Vote SoxFan1 in 2010. Or has that whole thing lost it's juice already?

Schoops is probably my favorite. Steak and Shake sucks big time. That place is insanely overrated.
