  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) For now, he's a 91-92 mph pitcher. He's having success, so no reason to change things. I've seen him up to 96 since he's been up, but it's going to be hard for him to sustain that velocity when he's not getting consistent innings, especially since he was in such a groove starting in AA.
  2. I would have been all over this in Spring Training probably.
  3. Sizemore's 2 probably have more distance than Paulie's 3.
  4. Where has Paulie's power gone? Oh yeah, to the bullpen in left field.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:13 PM) Now maybe Lexi can hit one to the other side and move him over? I call your "move the runner over" and raise you "2-run homer."
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 08:20 PM) What are you suggesting there? Wow, Brent Lillibridge seems like a distant memory.
  7. Seriously guys. It's Jeremy Sowers. We've seen him a ton before...
  8. Beckham is looking a lot more comfortable at 3B every day.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:56 PM) Even I'll grant that Pena has more value than a simple 27 YO RP with a 4.23 ERA just based on stuff. His stuff hasn't gotten him much success in the past. I understand he has potential, but that doesn't make him any younger. If this signals a move of Dotel for prospects, then it makes a lot more sense.
  10. QUOTE (nyck170 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:53 PM) Allen had and .825 OPS at Birmingham and was slugging under .500 as a first baseman. He didn't draw a walk in 15 games for Charlotte. He was wildly overrated on this site. Sure, we maybe could have included him as part of a package for someone like Halladay, but we added a big-league arm, maybe one with room for improvement, and now have a replacement for Dotel. Hawk always says today's game is about having the best bullpen. What AL Central team has a better bullpen than ours? It's still a very odd move on the surface. Everyone knows that Birmingham's park isn't too great for the hitters, and his struggles in Charlotte can only be evaluated so much because of the sample size. I thought he had more value than a 27 year old RP with a 4.23 ERA that doesn't really have a spot in our bullpen right now.
  11. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:46 PM) Seems more like Kenny is salivating over another power reliever again. Pena has legit closer's stuff and on talent alone is probably worth Allen but I'm very saddened by this. I think Allen is going to be a better player than people give him credit for, and now if we have Flowers penciled in at C, who is going to play 1B in the future? Viciedo and Phegley are both options. Or a veteran we acquire/sign.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) I'm watching the game on CBS and I just saw Francisco got caught stealing. My first thought was: A.J. threw somebody out? Then I saw that Mark picked him off. AJ threw Dejesus out by a mile the other day. Things like that can happen when your pitchers don't talk forever to get rid of the ball.
  13. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:42 PM) With Allen gone, Cook can take back his crown of the undisputed most overrated "prospect" on this board. It's like 4 posters. I'd say most don't consider him a prospect at all.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) Mark doesn't look all that good tonight. Meh. The first 2 were hit hard but Francisco's hit was a product of Alexei being really dumb.
  15. I can't believe we're in page 6 and don't have a "Coop will fix him."
  16. The answer to this thread is Tony Pena.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) He must be struggling as of late, as his numbers were great to start the year. He's been a "loss machine" of late.
  18. QUOTE (onedude @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) who gets sent down? Hopefully Gobble.
