QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) I'm 100% sure that Ozzie would have 14 threads complaining if he left Danks out there in that situation, he gave up the lead and Jon ended up falling to 3-7 on the season, despite an ERA near 4.00 (if you take the three God-forsaken Uribe runs off the board from that DET game that seemed about 10 years ago). Thornton was credited with the loss.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 08:55 PM) Now even Danks sucks. Man are the Sox going to have a lot of no shows at the Cell the rest of the year. Did you even watch the game? Did you look at the stat line? Have you watched any of his outings this season? I'm baffled.
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 07:43 PM) You got me there... but I'm not about to call him slow or lacking of speed unless I see some 60 times. This is not the NFL combine.
-
Jeez, you guys are ridiculous. Would we rather have Cano than Iguchi? Yes. Is Cano a great hitter? No. Is Cano better than Iguchi? Yes.
-
QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 05:00 PM) Hack job. They didn't play small ball in 2005 and Konerko and Dye were on that team. Yeesh. Yes PK and Dye were on that team, but we did play small ball. How did we score the only run in Game 4 of the WS? Slap single. Bunt gets him to 2nd. Grounder gets him to 3rd. Base hit up the middle.

Lies. All lies.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) ... He fits right in with this year's club though The bullpen, most definitely.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) I personally am a big fan of Reyes and would want him with any trade involving the Cards. He struggled this year, but he has a big time change up. I didn't get to see any of his outings this year, but last year after he practically whooped the White Sox (except Thome) I watched a couple more of his outings. I think he is going to be a stud with some more work. 0-8, 6+ ERA. He blows.

Realistic Best/Worst Case Scenerios for 2007?
SoxFan1 replied to rangercal's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 04:25 PM) Do you think this team can still make the playoffs? (BTW, this is an honest question, not being a smart ass). Until we are officially mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, then they still have a chance in my mind. There are 100 games left in the season. More then enough time to turn things around. -
Realistic Best/Worst Case Scenerios for 2007?

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) There is absolutely no chance this team makes the playoffs. None. .500 is possible I guess, but my best case scenario is 86-90 losses. Ok. Thanks. I'll just stop watching now. -
QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:54 PM) who is your lead off guy, smart mouth? owens...cintron is better. cintron has mucho speed. something this sox team sorely lacked early on when uribe couldn't get on base and pods + erstad hit the DL. What are you talking about? Since when is Cintron fast? Owens is much faster. Right now this teams doesn't have a lead-off hitter. Not until Pods comes back. That was kind of my point. You can't put a good lineup together with this squad...smart mouth.
-
QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:48 PM) Cintron, SS Iguchi, 2B Konerko, 1B Thome, DH Dye, RF Terrero, CF Fields, 3B Hall, C Owens, LF ozzie hasn't tried it yet, someone e-mail it to him. Cintron leading off? I said 5+ runs, not 1+.
-
Don't be surprised is Iguchi is still here in 2008.
-
Dye will be dealt. If Buehrle can't be re-signed, he'll be dealt as well. The only others I can see being dealt is Crede, but that's not happening now with his surgery, and one of Vazquez/Contreras.
-
QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) LF Owens 2B Cintron DH Thome 1B Gonzalez RF Machowiak CF Terrero C Hall SS Uribe 3B Fields That'll do.
-
I challenge any of you to come up with a lineup that can score 5+ runs consistently consisting of the players we have right now.
-
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) I think we should just keep it going until the Sox reach .500, lol. The next time the Sox are close to .500, they'll be 0-0 to start next season. Even then, they'll still be at a .000 win %.
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) You've always got every answer, don't you? Try not to be so damn smug with every post. I don't buy this Jenks in better shape crap. He's just as big this season as he was the last. He even laughed when asked about losing 25 pounds. Are you arguing about his 2.59 ERA?

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) Check out the trade winds misc. notes Found it. In a way, thats good to hear, but sad also. I want Buehrle back. -
He would likely cost more than Crawford.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
SoxFan1 replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 02:59 PM) theres no point in rushing into a trade...KW should wait and evaluate all the offers he gets/makes...no point in making a move to make a move....wait until he gets the best package... I'm not talking about making a trade just to make one. That's just stupid. I'm talking about why Greg Walker still has a f***ing job. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) Did you read that there are already rumblings about what the Sox are asking for in return for him? I still believe you give him one final offer before the end of June. If he says no, then you trade him. Can you link me up to these rumblings fathom. I haven't seen the article. -
Thank god for Bobby Jenks. He's the only thing worth seeing on the Sox right now. Too bad we never get to use him because we're always losing.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) Here's the scary thing: they probably think signing Rowand would offset the fan's being upset if they let Buehrle go. Also, I'm of the belief that Garland will be traded this offseason. What makes you say that? -
QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 11:08 AM) I was thinking of what I would try to do to reload this organization with some talent, and with what should be an upcoming firesale I wanted to take a stab before KW screws it up. Trade Contreras and cash to the Dodgers for James Loney and Ivan DeJesus Jr. - Dodgers are trying to make a push and have Loney blocked in the OF and at 1B for a while. DeJesus or Hu for that matter would give the Sox a decent MI prospect and the Dodgers would still have Mattingly and either Hu or DeJesus left. Trade Thome to the Yankees for Melky Cabrera and Delin Betances - Yeah I know he has a no trade - he has waived it before, and would do it again. With Giambi out for the year, and his NY future in question the Yanks need a bat from the left side. Melky could immediately start in LF for the Sox and Betances would give the Sox a projectable arm in the system Trade Dye, McDougal and Broadway to the D-backs for Eric Byrnes, Alberto Callaspo, Emilio Bonifacio and Carlos Gonzales - The Dbacks are an outfield bat short right now from having a playoff team, Dye could resign with them as he has a home in the area. Bonificacio and Callaspo add more organization depth in the MI and Callaspo could fill Pablos roll as utility man. Gonzales would give the Sox a good outfielder who is a couple years a way and Byrnes could split time in CF for the rest of the year. Dbacks will also lose one if not two SP's at the end of the year so Broadway can fill in as their number 5 next year. Trade Buerhle and Mackowiak to the Braves for Saltamacchia and Devine - Braves need another SP to plug in their rotation and Buerhle will be affordable enough for them to make a run this season. Salty is blocked by McCann and if the Braves think that Thorman can handle first, Salty will be dealt. Trade Konerko and Anderson to the Red Sox for Ellsbury and Jon Lester - Konerko wont be much good on a team that has been blown up, and would benefit the Red Sox by sticking him after Manny. The Red Sox have been trying to trade Mike Lowell and move Youk back to third. We can either take Lowell if they want to dump his contract or they can spin him off, maybe to the Padres for something else. Trade Jenks and Podsednik to the Cubs for Samardzija, Chris Huseby, and Ryan Theriot Sox Lineup for the rest of 2007 would be: C S Saltamacchia 1B L Loney 2B R Iguchi SS R Uribe 3B R Fields LF L Erstad CF S Cabrera RF Byrnes DH Pierzynski Bench S Callaspo R Theriot R Hall R Terrero S Cintron SP Garland Vazquez Danks Lester Haeger RP Aardsma Thornton Bukvich Logan Day Massett Prinz 2008 Lineup C S Saltamacchia 1B L Loney 2B R Theriot SS S Callaspo 3B R Crede LF S Cabrera CF L Ellsbury RF Sweeney DH R Fields Bench Open S Cintron R Hall R Terrero SP Garland Jennings * free agent Lester Vazquez Danks RP Thornton Logan Devine Massett Aardsma Samardzija Sisco/anyone who can throw strikes Trade Pierzynski at the end of the season for whatever bullpen help you can get for him and get building. Thome is not going anywhere. Byrnes is a FA at the end of the year. Saltamacchia is untouchable. The Cubs trade is just plain brutal. Teririble. You want Jeff Samardzija? Maybe if we were the Bears...
