QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 06:57 AM) Cool. Just be sure to shag like you mean it!* (In Myrtle Beach, the shag is dancing, not and Austin Powers sex reference.) I've been there twice, and both times it was out of season. I liked not having massive seasonal crouds to contend with, but a lot of the places just closes down for the winter which sorta stunk. Enjoy. Thanks. We found a pet friendly resort right on the beach for 133 a night. 2 bedrooms, 1/2 kitchen, 2 baths, and 3 queen beds. Pretty solid if you ask me. Thanks for all the help everyone.

I just watched the last 5 minutes on DailyMotion, and I heard that it ended abruptly, but god damn...

So it looks like we're going to go with Myrtle Beach, but we're still not 100% sure. Thank you everyone for the suggestions, and feel free to add more.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 02:16 PM) Looking at the list of pitchers Mark joined yesterday is a good place to start... Yup, those other 4 were the only Sox pitchers to get their 1st 100 wins with the Sox. Buehrle now on that list as well. Good company to say the least.

Did I hear trout streams? Sounds intriguing, but we're looking for something more coastal.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 12:37 AM) He put up a .317 OBP his last 2 seasons in Minnesota. That's beyond pathetic. :Reads Kalapse's comment: :Looks at Kalapse's sig: :Weaps:

Hey guys, I need some help deciding on a good vacation spot on the East Coast for a summer road trip. We need somewhere where people can layout in the sun and do some fishing as well. We also need to find some pet-friendly hotels in the area because we'll be bringing along our 2 small dogs. Ideally, we'd find a pet friendly hotel with a indoor/outdoor pool near a nice beach, a place to swim, and a place to fish. We were considering Myrtle Beach, SC and Virginia Beach, VA so far, but I'm open for suggestions from some fellow SoxTalkers. Any help is great, thanks a lot.

My question: Who's to say KW will actually trade Dye is he does in fact begin to rake? I'll hang up and listen to your answer(s). Thanks.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 07:19 PM) Buehrle, Garland, Vazquez, Danks, Billingsley, I'd rather not have 3 sub-24 year old starters in the rotation next year. I have Aardsma/MacDougal (possibly both, who knows), Logan, Thornton and Jenks in the pen, that leaves 2 spots to be filled either internally, through FA or through trade, shouldn't be too hard with $8M to work with. The bench is Ozuna, An. Gonzalez, Patterson, Hall with a spot left open for a power bat. That's ~$92M with 3 inexpensive holes to be filled. All this is easily affordable with a $95M-$100M payroll next season. Completely forgot about Javy. I'd really like that team in 2008 though.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 07:00 PM) DH Thome, Jim C Pierzynski, AJ 1B Konerko, Paul 2B Betemit, Wilson 3B Fields, Josh SS Uribe, Juan LF Sweeney, Ryan CF Terrero, Luis RF Suzuki, Ichiro That right there is a $45M and probably the best defensive outfield in baseball. Good power throughout, younger and faster for a very low price tag. With the money being saved in the field suddenly Buehlre can be re-signed for ~$15M a year while Contreras is dealt for a piece or two. Mackowiak is non tendered along with Cintron and a guy like Corey Patterson is signed to be the 4th OF/speed of the bench unless of course a trade is made for a similar player. And after all that about $5-8M remains to be spent on the bullpen/bench or to fill any other need. All of this makes too much sense. Then you've got a rotation of Buehrle, Garland, Danks, Billingsley, and maybe Gio. Jenks will still be in the bullpen, along with Thornton and Logan. Maybe we get some relievers for Count?

Geico caveman?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 06:55 PM) I'd be happy with Ichiro being one of those outfielders even if he will be 34 next season. SweeneyTerrero, Milledge, and Ichiro wouldn't bother me one bit. Fields, Uribe, Betemit, and Konerko in the IF?

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) Im speaking mainly on Linebrink. ( I know linebrink is a stud, but he will be a FA soon too. ) I like Billingsley/Broxton but would not do a straight up deal. If we can get BOTH of them and add a little on our end, I would do that. I just hate to lose a guy who went .315/44/120 just a season ago . You don't trade a guy like that straight up that easy. Funny thing is, if Dye had that season in red sox rather than white, he would have been so hyped up by now that we probably could get BOTH Billingsley/Broxton. I pray that you post another pic , so that we can make another soupboy avatar. Funny guy.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) Because it's possible to get so, so much more for him as the trade deadline comes closer. If you want to get the absolute most for Dye, give him three weeks to try and get on a hot streak and then sell him to as many teams as possible. If Dye can somehow get his average up to .250, teams will be falling all over each other to trade for him. Look at it this way: he can't possibly get worse unless he injures himself, so there's very little sense in trading him while is value is so low. So what if he does get injured, or his BA drops even more and the OBP goes further under .300?

Who are some options for us at SS in 2008
SoxFan1 replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
I agree with Kalapse, Eckstein at SS is just bad. I'd rather keep Juanny, have him bat 8th or 9th, and keep that great defense along with whatever offense he gives us. He can still drive in some runs and hit some HR's. Ichiro should be our #1 target this offseason, I think thats pretty obvious. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) Dewon Day isn't one of our best relievers. We're Jenks, Logan against lefties, and then junk. Just because Day had a few solid innings in mop-up duty, that doesn't mean he should be in the majors. Logan threw a pitch right down the middle to Lamb that was called a ball, so I'm not going to be too concerned about that. And thanks for telling me that when I'm positive, I'm wrong. Are we really going to start criticizing everything that people say that's wrong? If so, we might as well shut down this site. Today was the most positive game I've seen from this team in a long time, as they actually seemed relax on the field. I agree with you as far as the team, but I said we threw out our top 3 relievers right now. I never said Day is a good reliever, but he is one of the best we got right now, and that's sad. I'm not criticizing you, so get that out of your head. I simply disagree with your statements.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) What did I say that was inconsistent? There were about 3 pitches that Logan and Day threw that were strikes. I didn't think Hall was catching the ball very cleanly to hep the pitchers either. It's amazing that I get criticized when I make a post that is positive, and not negative. We've come to expect negativity out of you, but it seems when you actually are positive, you're wrong. Like I said, if the pitchers are up there throwing ball after ball, the umpire is not going to help them out. Period. You said "Not too worried about the top of the 9th." Well, we threw out our (arguably) 3 best relievers right now and still gave up 2 runs.
-
QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 03:38 PM) s*** no! No to relievers! If we trade Dye thats a white flag to the season. We might as well get some quality spects and NOT MRs. What is the point of MRs if we trade one of our top bats? I pray this is deep, thick sarcasm.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 03:38 PM) Congrats to Buehrle. Not too worried about the top of the 9th, as the umpire sucked. Jenks seemed to have much better stuff today. You've been really inconsistent lately fathom. The umpire isn't going to help out any pitcher who isn't throwing strikes. Really only 2 were questionable. Hell, Houston could say the same about Jenks strike 3 call on Scott.
