QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) Kalapse already gave you the directions to get rid of the smell. So I will add this insane skunk to the conversation Allow me to bask briefly in my taxonomic dorkiness to inform you—wholly without the aid of The Google, mind you—that the skunk in that video is Mephites mephites, and not the co-occurring American skunk species Spilogale putorius or its western congener S. gracilis. I took Mammalogy in my senior year of college 20 years ago (yikes), and I still can't purge that cr@p from the cranial hard drive. . . But, seriously, calling animal control is not the only option. If the skunk is a male and you or one of your neighbors has a pet cat (black with a white belly works best), you can arrange for it to rub against some wet white paint and the resulting stripe down its back often fools skunks into thinking the cat is a female skunk. At that point you can usually get the cat to lead the skunk off your property. I have seen Chuck Jones depict this very strategy on several occasions, so I think your chances of success are quite high. [A quick word of caution, however. Make sure the cat knows if she is running away from le' skunk and finds that she has accidentally run off the edge of a cliff, she should NOT LOOK DOWN, because she apparently will only succumb to the pull of gravity after she has looked down to discover she is suspended in mid-air.]

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 10:47 AM) How cute...a good ol' fashion cane fight between Jim and Jim It's like the Irish fighting the Irish. We Jims have to fight each other because we have no other worthy opponents.

Hey, YAS, great to see you wasting some time here! To Tex and all the other SoxTalk whippersnappers. . . Stay off My Grass!! [And yes, I include Tex in that group because he's gotten old enough that senility has finally set in and he thinks he's a younger, prettier, Brittney Spears. I don't have the heart to tell him otherwise.)

QUOTE(NUKE @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 12:14 AM) If the masses truly believe that a law is unjust then they will work within the system to change the law. I don't believe for a minute that people have a right to disobey laws which laws they find distasteful. A society where the rule of law is optional is not a society at all. It is, in truth, the very definition of anarchy. Wow, you still haven't got over the whole big break-up with Mother England and forming our own nation thing yet then, huh?

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 10:50 PM) Car sharing services in DC that are supposed to help conserve gas, etc. are being sued because they are not handicapped-friendly. http://www.wtop.com/?nid=25&sid=1265435 I didn't read the article, but on face the two don't seem like they need to be mutually exclusive. It would be nice if differently-abled persons were able to take advantage of this service, and hopefully that is what comes out of this.

Well, it was bound to happen. . .

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 08:40 AM) I just saw out this trailer on screenrant.com I will never forgive Hayden Christiansen for his whiny portrayal of Anakin Skywalker(and also Samuel Jackson for his overkill of Mace Windu), but I am definitely going to check this one out. This thing is finally coming out? Seems like it's been in production for ever. It looks pretty coool. I'm convinced there is not much acting range toe speak of in either Christensen or Sam Jackson, but this seems like the kind of film that can surive un-nuanced acting.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 06:44 AM) Is that what your wife is calling it? An operating system? Yeah, but that's only because PA finally had enough of her calling it his micro floppy. . .

Blue collar, not redneck. Get it right. Great game, and one that I trust my drunk Chicago Irish relatives playing a lot more than when they were throwing lawn darts at each other.

I will believe it when I see it. As of now, I'd be happy to get 6 hours out of a battery.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 8, 2007 -> 10:44 AM) a trailer for the german production of The Red Baron. I think this looks awesome, some of those dogfight scenes are amazing That's Lena Headey in the female lead. I'm strugggling hard to not make a crude joke about checking out her Sopwith Cameltoe. . .

QUOTE(Linnwood @ Oct 7, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) I went and read that thread on NSBB... they all must be suffering from memory relapse. I'm in Northern Virginia now, but I was living in Chicago in '05 and I vividly remember plenty of Cubs fans rooting for Boston, LA, and Houston. I remember seeing it on the nightly news, I remember having douche-bags on the El' yelling "Go Boston!" at me while I was wearing White Sox gear, etc. So I don't know where these dinks get off pretending they are above all of that. And honestly, that's the way I'd prefer it. I live and die with my team, they can live and die with their team, and I'd rather a bunch of Cub fans didn't get behind my White Sox out of some warped sense of good sportsmanship or whatever.

So, I'm thinking Aramis Ramirez is a shoe-in for Clutch player of the year now, yes?

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 7, 2007 -> 10:01 AM) Then there was a guy in a red shirt who just kept yelling "I don't care, I don't care, I'm a die hard Cubs fan.. I don't care...." I'm not quite sure what he was trying to say but apparently he didn't care and he is a die hard Cubs fan. I popped a bottle of champagne for each of the three White Sox 2005 postseason series wins, and I popped one last night after the Cubs limped quietly into the off-season. The 2005 victory toasts were orders of magnitude more enjoyable, to be sure, but it was still a very nice way to celebrate another spectacular display of Cub futility.

Jimmy Carter, ex-president, current badass.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 06:58 PM) You mean 2+2 isnt 5? I just think different is all. BTW: Here are some concrete acheivements Jimmy Carter did preside over as President: He nominated Paul Volcker, the man before Greenspan that helped tame inflation. He protected 103 million Acres of Alaskan Wildlife. He legalized home brewing beer, and as such is responsible for Microbreweries in the US. He deregulated the airline industry - which helped lower prices for air travel. Best. Preznit. Evah!! -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 03:52 PM) The only problem that COULD be caused by his excellency, is if he were to instruct the DOJ to not ever pursue or investigate a case against Blackwater or other contractors. Then, of course, lawsuits could be brought against that, and around and around we go... That's what I'm envisioning. It does us no good to have EPA enforcement of environmental laws ifd all the EPA prosecutors know they are supposed to take a dive when they take big business to court, and it will do us no good to say Blackwater is now subject to legal prosecution according to the laws of the nation of DOJ is going to be bullied out of any investigations they might pursue. You gotta hand it to the BushCo Cabal, they acan play the system like a harp from hell.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) Senate to vote soon, and if they have a similar majority, then Bush's veto will be useless. Well, that's what good old GWB signing statements are for.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) I don't think I've ever posted drunk here before. I might just get hammered off my butt tonight and see what happens. I can look back at my old posts and immediately pick out the ones I posted while hammered. . . or huffing aerosol, snorting crack, licking toads, or shooting heroin directly into my carotid artery. Those are the posts where I find myself agreeing with Kap about politics.
