QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) When did the Dems and GOP start fighting a different war? This isn't about politics, this is about our efforts to win in Iraq and get the hell out. SoxTalk rules, not mine, Bro. This is what Jason posted when the Clusterf*** Era began: I didn't raise a stink about Nuke posting on the Al Quaida #3 being blown up, because according to a Rules Pakistan/Afghanistan seem to have a loophole.

Interesting indeed, but Not Threadworthy. So Sayeth SoxTalk. Mod Tex, if you could move Scofflaw Tex's post into the Politics Clusterf*** thread, it would be much appreciated. By somebody.

Happy Happy Birthday!

QUOTE(The Critic @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) Sex, Lies and Keep Yer Politics To Yerself I like that one. How about Sex, Lies, and Who Could Ask For More? Or Sex, Lies, and Bad Spelling?

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) Those making the decisions here have to realize they are at fault with this politics thing, come up with a reasonable solution, and move on. Conversely, we all move on and engage our political concerns in other matters. And it seems many of us have done so. I was joking about it being a slow couple of news cycles, btw, and that was probably apparent. I don't know about calling the decision 'being at fault.' SLaP evolved into something pretty neat, and likely unique on a secondary forum on a sports board. I'll miss that, fights and all, but not my call to make. It was heartening to see some righties and lefties equally saddened by the move, though, which suggests what we all know - there is a sense of community here that is bigger than any social or political differences any of us have with each other. Love and do what you will.

QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) I've really enjoyed the intriguing favorite song / TV show / food talk. Well, that is to be expected on slow news days such as those we have apparently had the last two days.

QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) Well, political threads have been effectively killed. Quite effectively.

Belated Birthday wishes to you, Mr5. Genius. Hope you had a good one.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) Just throwing that idea out there though (cause I do know there is a core group on this forum that loves talking politics). But lumping all of politics into a single "politics" thread is not going to foster any sort of meaningful discussion. You may be correct in your assessment that nobody would jump at moderate a politics forum, but would that really be any more work than policing the new dedicated "politics" thread on SLaP? And for that matter, have you asked the current mods if any of them would be willing to be the referee in a politics forum? If the concern is for people who don't want to be bothered with it, then why not put it all into it's own off-topic forum? Of course we all realize this is first and formost a White Sox fan community site. But it is a credit to the members that they are capable of discussing the world outside of baseball, and if the first months of the off-season are slow news-wise, the activity (and yes, the intensity too) on SLaP tends to pick up. None of us have a right to tell you how to run things; your dime, your call and that is as it should be. But this will cost the site a lot of the openness and intellectual depth that set it apart from the other fan sites. Carry on.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Breaking: Tim Spicer stonewalling Civilian Iraq shootings inquiry? http://www.crooksandliars.com/2005/11/28.html#a6099 I was right about a story breaking today, but it wasn't even the info I thought was going to break. Uhhm. . .

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 06:41 PM) The fact that they had the success they did, plus are probably one of (if not THE) most successful bands out of Canada, plus they were one of the biggest of the 70's, PERIOD, they should be in there. Well, this Chilliwack fan says them's fighting words!

I thought the same thing when I saw the story yesterday. I was sure there was going to be a landmark ruling of some sort in which the imagery "fallen facade" of the SCOTUS became pregnant with meaning.

I can see why this early design was abandoned.

QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) does she come w/ tape over her mouth? if so, i want her too. How about something to cover up a few feet of forehead while were at it?

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) can a mod fix the title of this thread ASAP? it's making me cry. I here you, man!

Much as it pains me to admit it, these NeoCons Rawk! Bush_Was_Right I particularly like the middle eight.

With the DNA evidence having been inadvertently destroyed by a clerk, and the eyewitness to the crime only being "80% certain" Lovitt was the guy, the clemency and commute to life imprisonment makes sense for the governor.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) meh, Germany will probably just give in to their demands. Because. . . ? What exactly changed since earlier today when the new German foreign minister said in this reference to the German woman and her driver who went missing in Iraq Friday: Or are you saying that the German government is just talking s***? Like when the Preznit says "We don't torture"?

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) At the same time? Sounds like the new look I've been searching for.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) Well I'm not THAT into Prog. Yes, I enjoy numerous bands in the style, but I don't try to defend it, as I fully understand why people would NOT like a band like Eloy. I tend to simply ascribe to the theory that German rock bands basically suck. And yes, that includes the Scorpions, even though I can tolerate some solo UJR stuff.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) You mean you didn't like Ripples? Ach, see that is why I had to say almost none of the post-Gabriel stuff does it for me. Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering are both pretty solid outings (with some spottty patches), and they show that the band still had some musicianship and artistry even after Gabriel.
