  1. Today=Grouchy It looks like i will lose most of my day battoning down the hatches at work for the pending arrival of Katrina. Since I have no faith in the roof on my building since last year's storms (and we are still fighting with the insurers and FEMA over the settlement amount), I think that putting visqueen over all the equipment is likely a waste of time if the roof gives. Oh, yeah, the head of the institution just sent an email and said we're on the clock during the storm tomorrow – unless we want to use paid time off and eat a vacation day. I think I need to have myself a convenient storm-related accident tomorrow and get hooked up with some sweet workman's comp and maybe some settlement money.
  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) And replace Bush with Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Ford, etc. and the article is probably still true. True enough. Transporting the Presidential Posse around is going to eat up some gas.
  3. Robertson has been saying stupid s*** since he was a young man, so I don't think age is the issue.
  4. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) :rolly puhhhhhleeeaaase! Yep, no big surprise here, and the least of my concerns as far as the President goes. Now, the 330+ days spent on vacation at his ranch during his time in office, and the fact that he's the only working American I know of that can be on vacation 20% of the time, that I take some issue with.
  5. I do like that Cincinnati chili. First time I encountered it was - where else? St. Louis. But once I got over the fact that it was obviously a very stoned person who decided spaghetti, canned chili, and shredded cheese was a match made in heaven, it turns out I really like it.
  6. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) Po Boys from Mother's on Poydras street...... They don't get any better, boys and girls! Mother's has got a killer turtle soup. I think it's as good as Commander's Palace, and you don't even have to dress up. A muffaletta at it's birthplace, the Central Grocery on Decatur is also must-do, dining. Damn, hungry again.
  7. QUOTE(Benson&Rexage @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) A self impossed dutch oven. I love hot gas! But did you pass the Dutchie on the left-hand side?
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) researchers have discovered that people born befor WW2 have natural smells as their favorite childhood memories, and people born after WW2 start mentioning man made things like playdoh, new car, etc. So what natural smell is your favorite, old-timer?
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) food, not word games . . . Yeah, I concur that scrapple hardly qualifies as food. Shame on all of us for not immediately calling 'Nawlins as the home to probably more endemic food than anywhere else in the country. Gumbo, jambalaya, boiled crawfish, shrimp/crawfish bisque, oysters Rockafeller, shrimp Remulaude, Po' boys, muffalettas (yum!), "barbecue" shrimp, grillades, crawfish etouffee, red beans and rice, blackened redfish... damn, that's good eats. 'Nawlins cuisine is hands-down my favorite to cook too. Some great endemic desserts too, with beignets (served with chikory coffee like at Cafe du Monde), bananas Fosters, cherries jubilie. Killer endemic drinks include hurricanes, pickled bean or okra bloody marys, milk punch,
  10. New Jersey - scrapple!! :puke :puke
  11. I saw that this morning and laughed for like 5 minutes.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) I luuuuuuuuuv cheese. Gimme a big brick of sharp cheddar and i'm a happy camper. You'll be campiing out on the toilet, backed up from too much cheese.
  13. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) Worst. Promotion. Ever. I'd have to agree.
  14. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) GREAT signature to you!!! What can I say - you were inspirational. Now it's time to dust off the black book and get the band back together.
  15. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) It seems that we are falling off the topic and just mentioning what we actually like the smell of. I think not, otherwise the thread would have an NC-17 rating by now. The line from Christine about the one thing better than 'new car smell' comes to mind... Nice AV there, btw.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) Have you looked around? All these threads are full of nerds. Hey FlaSoxxJim, how do fish and sea living mammals smell and why? How do they smell? Why, awful of course. Why, because, the joke needed a punch line.
  17. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) I just have one tattoo, on my ass, I have EXIT ONLY in three languages And due to lack of foresight, Greek was not one of the three languages chosen.
  18. Absolutely. Hats off to Garcia and Santana. And I wasn't sure if the outfield walls were going to hold out after being plowed into so many times. What a difference one pitch and one swing of the bat can make.
  19. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) For the record, bring on the personal attacks You must be mistaken. This is the Happiest Place on Earth. Now Get f***ed.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) Whether I get a brought or a dog, I'm putting ketchup and mustard on it. If its a brat some sweet peppers are a must as well for me. Yeah, but Cali Boys put pineapple on their pizza too.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) Cleaned up this thread a bit and took care of the poster who was making personal attacks. So who do youze wants us to 'take care of' next, Boss?
