  1. From the description, that 'S' pickup sounds like their old PAF pickup from the mid-80s - basically the last time I was ambitious enough to upgrade much on my electric guitars. Had a lot more time on my hands (and disposable income too, I guess) back in high school...
  2. If you don't mind, a selection of ypur favorites would be great, and above and beyond the call og Beatle duty. Have you heard John's "May Pang Tapes"? I have that one on vilyl - it's stuff from the Rock and Roll album days, when he and Yoko were on the outs. I like that stuff.
  3. What about "Get Back (to where you once belonged)" when it was still that great anthem of tolerance and love, "NO PAKASTINIS"? I kid you not, that's where that one started out.
  4. Are the standard Dimarzio humbuckers still available? If you want to try something adventurous first, unwind the coils on your old pickups, then rewind and redip them in wax and see how that works. That's what Jimi used to do, y'know.
  5. Have you actually seen a game at the Trop? It's not that bed and there are a lot of nice fan ammenities. Beats the Twins Baggie hands-down.
  6. Nice sig, Crimson. Geeks Unite!
  7. That soundtrack does sound promising. I always thought that Magic man (the Heart anthem), with that insanely great instrumental break in the middle of it, could be used to great effect in a 70s period film. Always good to hear Todd stuff issuing from unlikely corners too. If I ever directed/produced a film, I'd push for an all Todd soundtrack, not the better-known stuff either, just the moving pieces to fit various points in a film. Unbelievably, noone has approached me about directing or producing their projects. Snobs. Trivia: The soundtrack for Dumb and Dumber - one of the better points of the film - was scored by todd.
  8. ISP is a good tune, and "Love of the Common Man" (if that's where your reference was leading) is probably my all time favorite other than the stuff on Runt. Do yourself and pick up a copy of his new album "Liars" (just out last week). It's his first real traditional studio-immersion effort in 10 years, and easily the strongest outing since Nearly Human and Second Wind (a 1989 Nearly Human show was one of Boots I just shelled out for - Saw that show in Indianapolis and it was easily the best Todd show I ever saw). I've enjoyed the tr-i and patroNet experiments, mostly because it fit in with Todd's larger maverick persona, but I gotta say I'm glad to see him getting back to his roots. "Todd and the Liars" will be in my neck of the woods one month from today, and it will be a great show I'm sure. The last couple tours have been him solo - acoustic guitar, piano, iPod... They've been great intimate affairs, but I'm ready for him to rock the house with a full band again. And in an effort NOT to hijack a Beatles thread, I'll point out that Todd is a Beatle-head par excellance...
  9. Well, I might forgive Waters now - I mean a guy from Montrael may have been asking for it.
  10. Wow, Hammerhead, that's a nice collection of boots. I'm not even familiar with half those titles, I've been less active in pursuing them since vinyl went the way of the 8-track tape. I just shelled out a chunk of change on some Zappa and Rundgren boots and got to scolding myself because I've not pursued the Beatles stuff much of late. Then again, you're right - a lot of the same takes show up on 20 or 30 different titles.
  11. Dang, Internet bidding is closed. And I'm sure the Hofner Bass Signed By Paul McCartney went for a song.
  12. A WHOLE LOT, I'm sure. Sweet though, gotta check it out. Thanks for the info.

    Yes. Get a Mac.
  14. If you feel like burning a copy of that baby and have nowhere to send it, give me a holler. You're so right about the great Beatles boots out there. I have only a fair boot collection, and sadly it's all on vinyl. The 'Black Album', Sweet Apple Trax (2 volumes), Savage Young Beatles (basically backing Tony Sheridan), "A guitar's alright John, But You'll Never Earn a Living From It," Something with "What's Yer New mary Jane" on it, and my two personal favorites, "The Beatles Versus Don Ho" and the Beatles Versus the Third Reich" (both parodies of the VeeJay Beatles Versus the Four Seasons album). I have a couple more I'm forgetting, but those are the better ones. Some day I'll stop being lazy and set up a deal to digitize all my old vinyl, and then I can share the joy. I've told you I have a good friend who, like you, is pissed that the official Beatles CD catalog is the Brit catalog and not the American one, which is who there's no "Hey Jude" in in that release set. He can barely bring himself to listen to the Parlaphone versions of those releases, because the track orders are all different and there are songs on disks like Revolver that he feels shouldn't be there. He adamantly claims the parlaphone releases sound sterile. I grew up chasing down used copies of both catalogs so I don't have the same mindset, but I appreciate that you antiques come by it honestly.
  15. I knew a young Chicago musician in the late 80s who did time as a Ginsburg boytoy for a year or so. Really creeped me out, but I guess it was a way to expand one's horizons.
  16. I haven't seen it yet but I read a description of it that I can't believe they actually made into an ad. Good to hear the Sox Fan come out on top though.
  17. These can't all be real, can they? The lack of an actual attribution other than 'baseball commentator' leads me to believe they may be partly fabricated.
  18. That is a truly noble cause. While you're at it, get people to stop saying "very unique" and "forever an ever" while you're at it.
  19. I can do without this yutz' invectives and obvious disdain for the Sox, but in so many words he has reiterated the frustration we're all feeling. 4 years/$50M is not an insulting offer considering it's JR, but if that won't get it done I hope we add a year and up the stakes just a bit and that it would be enough for Magglio to want to stay with a team he loves. I wouldn't sell the farm based on a torrid first month, and it's good to hear both sides say they're trying to get something done. But the closer we get to the deadline, especially if we wall off the pace, the more precarious that situation is going to be.
  20. I never knew there was a "nonprofit Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation." They screen 1,200 adult film stars a month for HIV and other STDs. I had wondered how the industry had not wiped itself out through disease transmission. It's actually kind of ironic that porn stars are engaging in safer sex than a lot of the population.
  21. Very good questions. fyi, the former Mesopotamia also included eastern Syria. Home to the Sumerians, probably the fist people to brew beer! Suemrians Rock!
  22. Nudge nudge, say no more... a nod's as good as wink to a blind bat, eh? Disney's proactive stance on 'alternate lifestyle' cast members is rapidly becoming the only thing I respect about them, and I'm a long time Disneyhead.
