Inquiry into Israel's Use
Yeah, stop bashing those poor misunderstood, human shield-using Israelis, Apu btw, where is that Alan Moore quote from, and is that the comic writing Alan Moore or somebody else?

Heads Reading List
International Baccalauriete (sp?) Program. It is like AP, but there's community service and internship time to do for it too. I've had a few IBs from the local schools come in and do summer internships for me.

Heads Reading List
I read Cry, the Beloved Country back in HS and I thought it was outstanding. The description of a land "beautiful beyond the singing of it" from the introductory pages of the book has stuck with me ever since. Reading the book in a post-Apartheid world it may lose some of its urgency, but I very much liked the book. The other books I liked from HS lit classes were Matamorphosis, ADITLO Ivan Denisovitch, 1984, Catcher in the Rye (which I had already read twice in grade school but still loved), Camus' the Stranger... that's about all that really stuck with me from the assigned novels.

What this win shows
I'll take the W, but my blood pressure is hoping for more Winning and less Ugly the rest of the season.

Ugliest Win of the Season?
That's the trifecta of ugly (not to be confused with my Brother's ex-girlfriends ). But I gotta go with today.

Shingo
That is a pretty pitch. I liked what I saw today, and remain cautiously optimistic about Shingo.

Way Joe!!- Favorite Poster's Sayings
Don't encourage him...- Favorite Poster's Sayings
Ah, and a fine scene it is... "'I feel happy..." But try a word search on 'mostly dead,' and tell me what you find... gold-plated apology is not forthcoming. Zircon maybe...- Favorite Poster's Sayings
No, I wanted you to say "The Princess Bride," which is where the quote is actually from. The peasant village and tthe old geezer getups Billy Crystal and Karen Kane wore in the 'Miracle Max' scene are VERY Pythonish I'll admit - wouldn't ge surprised if Gilliam consulted on set design and wardrobe. But, at any rate - YOU CHOKED!- Favorite Poster's Sayings

I assume you were sporting wood?- Favorite Poster's Sayings
You'll note I said you were only sort of snide. Kind of like only being mostly dead (easy cool points for the first one to name that film). Hearing that quip always reminded me of an early Paul Riser stand-up bit (back when he was funny), about how you could get away with saying all kinds of s*** as long as you tagged "I'm just saying" onto whatever beef you had with someone. You know, "I'm not saying you're stupid... I'm just saying, you're not too smart..."- Favorite Poster's Sayings
Minor point of clarification, it was written by Lionel Ritchie but first recorded by the Commodores while he was with them. I know it's nitpicking, but I guess I'm just once... twice... three times a big geek. As for my favorite boardster quips, I liked it when PA amd CW would have at it and each would sign off with a sort of snide "just saying..."- Forgive, forget, or none of the above
What if they're professional homosexuals and not merely "practicing." Dead Serious. OK, Brother, now your knuckles are seriously dragging.- Please Spare Me H&U
Get off of this board, you damn optimist!! I'd have loved for the offense to pick garland up yesterday, but those are the breaks. Uribe has exceeded a lot of expectation offensively so far, and has done what was expected of him defensively. Willie's motivation seems to come and go a little, but it's way too early to get down on him. His speed is important, as evidenced by his beating out the fielder's choice play at second yesterday - anyone else on the team would have been out. Keep him at lead off until it's clearly demonstrated he doesn't deserve it.- Happy Birthday Jason!
YOU DA MAN Have a sweet B-Day!- Thousands dead in North Korea
Holy crud. The magnitude is staggering and it is tragic beyond words to see loss of life on that scale. - 4/23 Game Thread: Sox vs. D-Rays
