  1. And it matters not if SuperBud can't broker an agreement by 5pm or take up a challenge on the matter.
  2. MLBPA has little recourse to do other than what they did UNLESS they can redefine what they mean by making sure there is something 'of benefit to the player.' By 'something,' they right now are exclusively referring to money. Without knowing the details, it's clear Boston's proposal results in less guaranteed money for Rodriguez. If the players union was willing to see that the newly included player option out-clause is a real benefit to the player (ensuring he won't be stuck in a bad situation for 7 years without choice). Hell, getting out of Texas is a real benefit for that matter.
  3. Yes, he would go to Boston for Williamson, and then be immediately turned over to the Rangers as part of the A-Rod package. This is according to the story link on the 'Commish to get involved?' thread.

    beatles reunion

Yeah, I forgot it's been that crazy canadian William Campbell out there doing the Paul thing all these years. Methinks this is bulls***e, and not just because it's a BLANK TAPE that's being auctioned off, or because none of the studio folks in the know ever cashed in on some tell-all book. Paul's 14 month/10 country Wings Over the World Tour (1975/1976) finished up in London on Oct 21, 1976. The AMAZING lost recording session supposedly took place 11 days later in LA. Paul apparently not only needed no rest after 14 months of touring, but also had time to talk the rest of the lads into the session, and to book the LA studio. Paul and George both had home recording studios (Paul's primarily for demos), and this super-secret reunion probably would have occurred there and not in a no-name LA studio where prying eyes would see them. (For that matter, Paul would probably have hooked up with Wally Heider of the Pit in LA, where he recorded a lot of Venus and Mars. Last but not least, the whole point of the Wings world tour was for the always egotistical Sir Paul to prove to the world that Wings was it's own force, and to get out from the Beatles' shadow. Getting together again a week or so after the end of the tour seems unlikely. No sir, I don't buy it.
  5. I posted earlier concurring that having Williamson would somewhat obviate the need for Mota. In that case PK for Perez straight up as primarily a salary dump would be fine. But knowlegable people here and elsewhere today have been really high on Jackson and Miller though, so much so that the long-term upside to having them instead of worrying about how we'd ever afford Nomar after this year makes the proposed LA deals intriguing. I'm getting comfortable with the thought that it would be win/win whether we kept Nomar or got the pitchers and BOTH prospects for Nomar and PK. I just wish the A-Rod/Manny thing would happen so something can happen. An-tic-i-pation.... An-tic-i-pation.... It's makin' me wait, it's keepin' me way-ay-ay-ting. (ketchup anyone?)
  6. Mike Royko's immortal words: "No self-respecting fish would be caught wraped in a Sun Times."
  7. Yeah Jason, what are you trying to do give us a heart attack with ill-timed outages?
  8. Is it confirmed that it's Guillen we'd get in return from Seattle?
  9. Or try to rekindle the interest in a Konerko/Perez deal. Will we need Mota if we have Williamson?

  11. Wow. Hurry up and happen already. We all of a sudden have a lot of shortstops.
  12. Well, I was one of handful of people who actually liked the ill-fated "Head" movie noted in the list above. But I mostly liked it because of the weird Frank Zappa cameo when he appears in the desert with a donkey and chews out Tork for not practicing enough. And for my money, the best Monkeys (I mean MonkEEs) songs were the ones written by Neil Diamond, regardless of who was actually playing the instruments at the time.
  13. They missed the biggest one... The lowly Jimi Hendrix Experience opens for rock and roll heavies... The Monkeys!?! Peter Tork apologized for that every time he saw Jimi afterward.
  14. I think I read Guillen is slated to make $2.25 million this year. Don't know if Jose's offense is enough to make the M's want to take on 2X that in salary.
  15. They're all wieners, er..., I mean winners in my book. I kid because I care. Really.
  16. Wow, I just looked down at the bottom od the page... there sure are a lot of us waiting for something to maybe shake out of all of this.
  17. That's why I said get a mac. In OS X anything you can print you can also drive to a pdf file without any third party softwware needed. Depending on your version of Publosher and Windows OS you might have the same capacity though. Havve you liiked for a 'make pdf' option in your print dialog window. I'd go check it out on my wife's cheap iron (WinXP PC), but the kids are in the middle of a heavy game of Candy Land on the machine and I know better than to try and kick them off. Actually, if you have a full-blown Acrobat Exchange (not just the free Reader), it should have come with PDF Writer, that should let you print files to pdf's from other applications. It's suprising your print shop won't also work with EPS files, so as to get around a lot of size/resolution print issues. Then get a mac.
  18. Adjust your own time zone in Board Settings portion of the My Controls page, then everyone's post times rteflect the time zone you are in.
  19. Is there still time to add a "Poster most abusive to the English language" category?

    Damn good candy

Reese's ANYTHING is good. I made the huge mistake of introducing my kids to the joy that is Reese's candy before Halloween, making it much harder to raid their candy stash and steal all the Reese's like I usually do. I liked those honey roasted ones they had out in the summer, and also the "inside out" ones in stores now. I just saw white chocolate Reese's out over the weekend and I need to try those. And I'll be on the lookout for the Swoops too.
  21. Actually I can't give you much, other than to tell you that all those folks and more are signatories to the PNAC charter thingy, which means they agree with the ideology and furthering it. Kristol is out on the Neocon forefront with his books and print articles basically flauting the scarier aspects of the PNAC agenda while others (like my own thorn-in-side Jeb Bush) have tried to distance themselves from it. With names like Forbes, etc. (Quayle is also one) on the list, its clear this is a well-heeled and influential bunch of guys.
  22. That would be astounding if they could pull that deal off. Kenny would be in my good graces for quite a while after that. The article doesn't make it sound like the Dogers want Mota in the mix, and that's certainly the deal-breaker.
