QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) They saved $3 mil, got the web site publicity AND the commercial got views - for free. Those gays are smart. That's why you have to keep your eye on them. -
Yeah. . . I wasn't really talking to you.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) He said he might ask countryman Luis Aparicio if can wear his retired No. 11 as a tribute. Or maybe the No. 17 that was worn by another Venezuelan shortstop who played for the White Sox, Chico Carrasquel. Ha, if he had suited up as #17 and said it was a tribute to a past Sox player I'd have been scratching my head wondering where the mad love for Carlos May was coming from.

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) But you have to read all her stupid bulls*** about architecture which comes across as retarded also the sex scenes. Meursault from The Stranger. i don't even know what my argument would be. Your argument would be: "I read Camus. look at my Large Brain! Wanna have sex with me?" Or maybe that's my argument.

QUOTE (scenario @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 06:37 PM) Humphrey Bogart's character in Casablanca. Robert Downey Jr.'s character in Iron Man. Matt Damon as Jason Bourne... real nice guy... wants to stop killing people... seriously... but 'they' won't let him dammit. I'd say no to Bogart as Rick in Casablanca. I think it was always made clear that he fought the good fight both in his earlier life and also later as the proprietor of the Cafe. He worked hard to convey the image of a tough and morally ambiguous person (ostensibly to never be hurt in love again), but his kindness to the random Bulgarian couple attempting to flee to freedom, his willingness to aid Victor Laszlo at the expense of his own happiness. etc., puts him firmly on the side of the Good Guys. Claude Rain's Captain Renault said it best: “As I suspected. . . you're a rank sentimentalist.” As an aside, I continue to rank Casablanca amog the top five American films ever made.

Frank Castle/Punisher I think he's the definition of moral ambiguity in pop culture.

Gamera the giant Japanese flying turtle.

'Biggus Dickus' refused an ambassador posting

Now it may be big. . . but as big as a post?!? Come on. -
Until the Tiger Woods Movie comes out, I'll suggest Tony Soprano.

It comes down to what the driver can think of in a moment of panic. I agree there are probably several responses to a jammed accelerator. and hopefully if I'm ever in that position with the lives of my family at stake I have my wits about me and respond correctly. Unfortunately, not everyone does.

QUOTE (hogan873 @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 12:44 PM) That makes sense. I never bought into the idea that the planet as a whole was warming. I know there is the concern about the poles and the potential resulting ice pack melting. The history of climatology has shown us that climate changes have been cyclical. You can look at one particular area and see examples. Look at the history of snowy winters and hot summers for Chicago. If next year we only get 15" inches of snow, and there are days in January in the 60s, it doesn't mean the world is coming to an end. Unless the Cubs had already won the World Series the preceding October. Then 15" of snow should be takenas yet anothr sign of the pending Apocalypse.

I think it's pretty cool. I still have my doubts as to how much Omar has left to give the Sox, but I'm fine with the uniform number.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 03:51 AM) You ever see/hear Elton John sing a song, and then proceed to suck? Something I haven't witnessed. I think most of the stuff he did without Berbie Taupin is pretty awful, other than the Disney/Aida stuff where he had Tim Rice lyrics to work with. All the early stuff up through Captain Fantastic, though, is genius.

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 11:02 PM) 1967 was mostly one big total dump. I think that it was either 1978 or 1979 when we got around 87 total inches for the year. It seemed like every day it snowed to some degree. Yep, 1979 was my generation's 1967. No school for the week, and the end of Mayor Bilandic's tenure as a result of the sloow, uncoordinated response to the blizzard.

Until this year, the big one was a Ray Durham lead-off homerun Opening Day 2001. I was stuck in a men's room line Now, unfortunately, I can top that. In July I was visiting DC with my family, and having a great day seeing the sights, and meanwhile not a single family member called to tell me to run and find a sports bar or I'd miss MB's perfect game! Which I did.

Jasper's Mix is one of the secrets of the universe, now revealed by Ted Haigh. Fresh lime juice, sugar, fresh grated nutmeg, and a fairly insane amount of Angostura Bitters yields a base syrup that makes Jamaican dark and J Wray overproof rums absolutely sing. Jasper Le Franc was a genius.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 08:55 AM) It's an honor just to be nominated. In a way, they're all winners. But in another, more real way, most of you will end up losers.

Funniest Poster (The Critic Award) Voting

Gene Honda Civic/Cheat gets my honorable mention even if he's not around much, but Critic should win it in a walk. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 09:44 AM) Flaxx is going to win only because he talks about drinks all the time. Not True!! I also drink them. Seriously though, you drink with me, you drink quality. Especially if you're picking up the tab.
