  2. It should also be noted that Cheney's daughter was the GLBT outreach coordinator for the Pres. campaign in 04, IIRC.
  3. Just remember, a vote for Rex Kickass - is a vote for Rex Kickass. If you were running, I'd vote for you.
  4. I just started the new Bill Bryson book. The Jimmy Carter book was a quick read, and surprisingly good. Funny how much smarter Presidents get after they leave office.
  5. I am limited to Coricidin HBP when I get sick. It's one of the only OTC meds that doesn't contain decongestants.
  6. QUOTE(pierard @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) Last month I read Notes From Underground by Dostoevsky, The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, and Naked Pictures of Famous People by John Stewart (eclectic mix eh). While I enjoyed all three, I think I had the best time with O'Brien's book. I am currently reading a collection of Amy Hempel short stories and I am absolutely blown away. If you are a fan of Chuck Palahniuk, you MUST read Hempel (specifically At the Gates of the Animal Kingdom) . Chuck obviously did, and took notes. I think I am going to read Timequake by Vonnegut (love Slaughterhouse-Five) next, anybody read it before? I had a high school teacher compare my essays to Notes from the Underground. He was being way too flattering. Or maybe he just tried to trick me into reading the book. I really enjoyed the John Stewart book - one of the best pieces of written comedy that I've read in quite some time.
  7. OMG, why isn't the heat working mix: Nouvelle Vague - This Is Not A Love Song (Gotta love any chillout PiL cover) Gorillaz - Kids With Guns (Remix) Brian Molko/Faultline - Requiem for a Jerk (lead singer of Placebo does one of the best versions of this song I've ever heard.) Junior Senior - I Like Music Peaches - Tent In Your Pants Bis - Sweet Shop Avengerz Pixies v Run DMC - It's Gigantic Cut Chemist - The Garden (Lot of Mashups and Remixes this time around) Badly Drawn Boy - Nothing's Gonna Change Your Mind Vinicius de Morais - Insensatez
  8. No, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be. Some of the methods in which Medicare pays aren't the best uses of taxpayers dollars (for example, the inability to negotiate lower drug prices for its clients).
  9. Just remember, if you were running, I'd vote for you!
  10. And never mind what I'm doing in that hotel room!
  11. Don't forget to shout out your support tomorrow! With your support, we can have a Kickass Presidency!
  12. Rather than give you a bunch of flowery language.... Just remember that after tomorrow, you and I can have a Kickass presidency! I just need your support to do it! I'd like to thank Soxy for her support by naming her chair of the "Kickass Women's Caucus." She will also be named Secretary of Couture and Chomsky upon my election. Oh, and if you're still on the fence... just remember - I'd vote for you!
  13. Atlas Shrugged was good, but I never could finish it. I got about 2/3 of the way through it and then stopped for a while. When I picked it back up a month or two later - I couldn't pick it back up without starting the whole thing over. And at a thousand pages, I wasn't having any of that.
  14. Bloomberg is really proving quite adept in balancing NYPD supporters and African American community leaders in this bachelor party shooting the other week. You're hearing people in the neighborhood talking about how they can't respect the police because things like the bachelor party shooting goes on too often and praising Bloomberg for caring about his neighborhood at the same time.
  15. It's always better to be pissed off, than pissed on.
  16. Perhaps I should rephrase that into "forces legal responsibility" upon men.
  17. This isn't a list of who owns guns. This is a list of who purchases guns. There is a difference there. Why is it ok for the government to track a credit card's purchases but not ok for the government to track a list of gun purchases? We already do the former, but not the latter. Again, a national gun registry can be created in a way that would not violate the spirit of the second amendment. It could be inaccessible without a warrant, for example.
  18. The Second Amendment: How does a registry prohibit people to keep and bear Arms?
  19. Finally, an anti-abortion bill that affects men.
  20. I think it is time as a society to reexamine why we have the second amendment and why it's important to us. I believe that an American should have the right to own weaponry, if he/she chooses. I believe that an American should be able to own guns. However, I think it can be consistent with the second amendment to limit and regulate the sale of weaponry. The Second Amendment isn't impeded by the idea of prohibiting the sale of weaponry to convicted felons, and it isn't impeded by limiting the types of ammunition that are available for sale in this country as well. It certainly isn't impeded by the idea of keeping a national gun registry. We use data, acceptably or not, that is much more benign to be on the watch for terrorists - including our financial transactions as well as library records. Why shouldn't we be able to keep track of who is owning which gun? We can put safeguards on the registry to allow its use in specific law-enforcement procedures only, for example. I do support a national gun registry - with proper safeguards. If done properly, it can help ensure our safety without jeopardizing our liberty.
  21. IMHO, I think Notre Dame deserves the BCS bid because they'll draw and they're a pretty damn good team. You could make the argument, IMHO that Rutgers deserves a BCS bid more than Wisconsin - excepting the loss to Cincinnati this year, they played good football consistently - beating Louisville and losing to WV in Triple Overtime last night by a two point conversion.
