QUOTE(samclemens @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) they may be more pro-bush than any other country, but that isnt saying very much. most of the people living htere hate bush. most dislike blair and the majority do nto support the war. not to mention that the UK has been hinting at troop reductions and withdrawls constantly. i should have been more specific. an event like this will remind the people, and the givernmnet there whats really going on. Most of the people in the US don't like Bush. What's your point?

It could very well be, get ready to launch it now to coincide with etc...

I love how people are discounting record turnout in an August primary. 40% is an amazing turnout number for a primary. The Virginia Primary turnout number was something like one-tenth that.

I was watching "Why We Fight" last night at a friends. Then I heard about this as I was falling asleep last night. Here's some random thoughts that may or may not have anything to do with this. *We're literally spending billions of dollars to foil plots that only involve maybe a couple hundred thousand dollars to carry out. Don't get me wrong - I'm so glad that we are - but it's kind of weird to think about. *This is why terrorism is such an effective weapon. The plots don't even need to be carried out and sometimes they work. Terror attacks aren't usually just about killing people. It's about having an economic effect, it's about creating a palpable fear among the people you're trying to affect. So it works. And in this case, the plot never even had to come to fruition. We can fight a "war" on terrorism, but its too attractive a weapon to ever go away.

CBS Exit poll results. Primary voters only. Who will you vote for in November? Ned Lamont (DEM) 49 Joe Lieberman (IND) 36 Alan Schlesinger (REP) 0 Someone else 1 Not Sure 12 Won't vote 1

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) Perhaps some intern at the Times tried sneaking one past the editors and it worked. That's what I'm thinking.

The only way Lieberman gets serious support from the GOP is if he agrees to caucus with the GOP in 2007 - That takes the GOP from looking at potentially a 49-50-1 scenario to a 50-49-1 scenario if Lamont doesn't win. Lieberman spent three times the cash that Lamont did. And fell short. Momentum is with Lamont, and the longer Lieberman calls a primary battle "partisan politics" the more he'll look like a sore loser.

Maybe not, I started 2nd grade when I was 5.

What could possibly be the reason for putting a black man's head over a Lebanese woman's head?

I like it better this way, now you never know what I mean -
At my school everyone had to get valentines when I was in second grade. If you gave em out, everyone had to get them. And that was like 1982.

That's beautiful.

The party clearly abandoned her. But that's hardly the people of her district. It was just a primary. -
To answer your question, both Senators pledged to support the winner of the primary. Not Joementum regardless of what happens. These Senators are following through on their promise. And with the GOP Senate candidate polling under 15%, I'm pretty sure that nothing much will happen with his candidacy.
-
Republican Congressman Joe Schwarz (MI-07) was also defeated in his Michigan Primary 55-45.
-
The turnout was amazingly high for a summer primary - so the excuse that it wasn't the people of Connecticut speaking for the party is kinda squelched. Like 400,000 votes or something. Senators Bayh and Clinton, who both supported Joementum in the Primary, both have come out in support of Ned Lamont in the general.

ACLU again sticking nose where it isn't needed

If the public land that consisted of the right of way in the waterway disappeared because of the hurricane, the land that may be used might possibly be considered public right of way now which would mean any vacation of right of way to erect a crucifix may construe itself as a government endorsement of religion. I figure that's their stand on it. -
Might also have something to do with the fact that BP admitted they never maintained the pipeline in 20 years.

If "posturing for camera time" undermines your policy, it'd have to be pretty piss poor policy.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) Geeze, enough with the nitpicking already. Do you get the point, or just feel like being a nitpicking ass? Why no outrage over the latest UN position to be hit? It's not nitpicking. There's a big difference between Palestinians and religious shia. It's like saying Malaysia and Indonesia is the same thing because they both end in -sia.
-
Hezbollah isn't Palestinian. It's shia.

Ever read "Lies My Teacher Told Me" by James Loewen? Great read. He also did one about lies on historical markers that blew me away but I forget the title.
