This is true for both his change and slider, actually. He has times and games where they both flash plus but his consistency is bad. Last September he was good. This year he's having trouble with his offspeed stuff. He has the makings of an offspeed repertoire but he isn't quite there yet. I'd like him to add a splitter to the fastball/slider/change mix and use it on nights where the change isn't working. He absolutely has to refine the slider though.

Detroit couldn't catch up to his heater. All 14 K were on fastballs. Asshat Royals get what they deserve, even if that was an accident. Can't play beanball.

No. He doesn't have an out pitch. He has to get one plus secondary offering or he has no MLB future. Lopez did a fairly good job of impersonating an MLB pitcher last season but the wheels have completely come off. I wasn't very impressed with Lopez last year and always thought that his secondary stuff sucked. Giolito always had more potential and we're seeing the difference this season.

Lopez has a good heater and nothing else.

Only 2 K for Cease though.
