7/11- White Sox at Guardians, 6:10
Where else are they going to cut payroll? They have a lot of immovable contracts. Pretty much their only option for any sort of flexibility is salary dumping Eloy or non-tendering Giolito. They absolutely cannot bring back Abreu.

Um, they're going to be right up against the tax next year with already committed payroll. They really won't be able to do anything.

Another option. You think they can get something back or just a salary dump?

They have to consider non-tendering Giolito coming off a bad year.

He has the lowest BB% of his career in 2022.

Seconded. What's crazy is how much Hahn can legitimately hide behind the other three schmoes in the FO. We truly don't know how much of this mess is him and how much is KW, TLR and JR.

There needs to be a balance between 5% BB Moncada and 12% BB Moncada. 12% BB doesn't hit the ball with authority, and 5% doesn't walk enough.

But he still has value at the TDL!

There aren't enough pieces with enough control for a retool. You have Vaughn, Robert and????

Sure. Those are the types of players they should be targeting in the fire sale.

I disagree. They won't win a title with these players. They're good, but not good enough. Best you can hope for is a playoff appearance and a swift exit. They're not as bad as they've played this year but they're light years behind Houston and NYY.

I think so too. See my previous post. The Cubs and Blackhawks are closer to their next title than the Sox are simply because they've already made the decision to tear it down. I think last season is the absolute ceiling for this group of core players.
-
7/11- White Sox at Guardians, 6:10
Because I think this core is too flawed and they need to start over.

He is, but they can't deal with his half season slumps anymore.
-

If he does, you trade him this winter. He's got so much swing and miss that he's prone to half season slumps. I like the guy, think he's really talented but I think that another team could get more out of him than the Sox can.

To me, Hjerpe is a guy you pick in the 3rd round as a pure relief prospect.

Watch Lynn go out and give up a crooked number.

Yoan!!!

It's incredibly unlikely that they go 0-8. Probably worst case scenario is 2-6.

Literally the best thing that could happen this week is for the Sox to go 1-7. Then the FO can't pretend anymore.

I didn't even like Fields coming out of OSU but Nagy was enough of a putz that I'm giving him a fresh start. That being said, I don't have high hopes for him but he's the Bears guy so I'll give him the same 3 years I gave Mitch(who I disliked more than Fields as a NCAA player)

I have a hell of a lot more patience with bad teams that are supposed to be bad than with teams that are supposed to be good and are mediocre.

I'm more interested in watching Justin Fields development and the Hawks rebuild than this bullshit. Quite literally the most unwatchable and unlikable team in my 21 years as a die hard.

@Harold's Leg Lift do you hate Hjerpe as much as I do? I don't think he has a good enough heater for the modern game unless he's a reliever.

I never said they had better teams, I did say they were right there though.
