  1. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) Not a good day to be an Aussie after that result. Ugh. lol, I was just thinking that.
  2. So the Big 12 has ten teams and the Big 10 has 12 teams. TCU might be the big winners in all this now.
  3. Wow, New Zealand with the additional time goal. Slovakia looked like crap. I didnt think they would advance but I thought they would take care of NZL.
  4. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) Almost... Nice call. I don't follow soccer really, but I never would have imagined Paraguay would almost upset Italy. Paraguay finished just one point behind Brazil in qualifying and actually won one more game than Brazil. They have been to World Cups before and had moderate success. This Italy is old and they are really lucky to be an easier group compared to others.
  5. I thought Ghana looked slightly stronger in the first half but not to the point where I thought Serbia was being dominated. Then until around the 70 minute mark I thought it was even before Serbia really came on strong after the red card. Ghana got that goal but that was just dumb luck. Felt like I was watching a fight where Ghana was jabbing Serbia and taking more points that way but Serbia landed more power punches but not enough to win the fight.
  6. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) The 2004 Auburn Tigers agree. Undefeated in the SEC, but overrated Oklahoma, with a loss in their conference championship, plays the cheating USC squad for the title. I'm glad the NCAA can't come down on the Seahawks, Pete Carroll be bringin' the throat slash to Seattle. OU was 12-0 going into that national title game vs USC.
  7. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:28 AM) Algeria's keeper just did his best Robert Green impression to let Slovenia get 3 pts out of the game. Ridiculous, both those teams look very beatable. But now USA's game friday against Slovenia just became a must win. Well the US team should beat Slovenia but a tie keeps us in it. I doubt England will get less than 6 points out of their next 2 games. But you dont want to leave anything up to chance.
  8. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 07:04 AM) So should I root for a draw between Algeria and Slovenia, Or is it better if one of them win? A draw would have been ideal but Algerian keeper did his best Robert Green impression. After watching this game, the US should move onto the second round. If not then it will be a major failure.
  9. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) 7 errors in a game? WTF lol, I know. We werent great on defense but we werent this bad either during the regular season. Almost comical out there this weekend.
  10. In typical Miami fashion, they grab their neck and choke. Routine grounder from forcing a game 3. 7 errors and lose 4-3. Oh well, sucks that our 21 HR hitter and starting third baseman was in the hospital but should have won regardless. Well I probably wont watch more than 1 inning straight until the final game of the CWS. So with that said, go anyone but Florida.
  11. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 01:40 PM) Findley starting ahead of Buddle. Bradley going out on a limb there. Buddle scores 2 in the Australia game and sits for Findley who couldn't finish to save his life in that game. Yeah, I would hope this is the last time we see Findley start. I understand the speed thing but he isnt going to be a Davies type replacement. I'd have no problem if Findley came on in the 70th minute or so as a sub with his speed.
  12. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 09:29 AM) Couldn't believe it when I saw it last night. It wasn't really that close. If he knew he didn't catch it, it wasn't a tough play and he could have thrown it to first easily. It seems like the ump took forever to call it too, wasn't he already making his way to the dugout? Yeah, he had already jogged a few steps towards the dugout. The commentators were ripping on the kid for not throwing it to first but he knew it wasnt close to the ground so he didnt think he needed to.
  13. lol, Miami got hosed last night. Bases loaded, 2 outs in a 0-0 game in the third. UF guy hits a low line drive to our SS and he catches it to his backhand about a foot off the ground. His glove wasnt even touching the dirt. The ump rules it a trap and everyone is safe. Next batter singles and its 3-0. Just brutal. Now we did lose 7-2 so we might have lost regardless but that was still huge.
  14. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) Poor babies made the super regionals. Whoa is me, can't wait until we're not winning a regional. Wha wha wha I guess we're spoiled but it's been a very frustrating season for Miami and FSU. The talent is there but for some reason the offenses and pitching has not clicked at the same time this year. I dont like our chances at Florida this weekend. Since our number 2 went down for the season, our starting pitching has been pretty bad outside of Hernandez.
  15. Group A is going to come down to whoever can score a goal.
  16. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 12:10 PM) Always the same problem with the Mexican National Team...they have to create many chances to barely get 1 goal while the good teams score with less chances... If SA let's France and Uruguay control the ball like they let Mexico do in the first half, they'll get routed. Were you married or with your now wife in 2006? What was the quarterfinal game between Mexico-Argentina like for you and your family?
  17. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) Here's a big factor AGAINST the Pac-10 for any current Big 12 team. Pacific Time Zone. It may be the same distance to Seattle as it is to Happy Valley, but Texas doesn't want to be playing 10 pm EST start times. That would be a killer for a school with a huge fan base and huge alumni association. And to add my two cents about academics...even the guy who was last in his class in medical school is still a doctor. The AAU is a strong positive factor for induction into the Big Ten. There are 63 institutions on it ranging from Canadian colleges to Ivy league. That cuts out about 15 schools. Add in the schools that are lodged firmly in other conferences (Duke, USC, UNC) and small schools (Johns Hopkins, U of C, Wash U.) and your list dwindles. Nebraska doesn't bring much more to the table academically than is already in the Big Ten. What it does bring is football tradition, knowledgable fans that travel and fun, exciting new matchups. Finally, and I know I'm kinda looping back on myself but, for all this talk of travel...the teams that are talked about the most for travel have the biggest coffers. Texas and Notre Dame. Would it suck for the non-revenue sports? Probably, but at the same time, the football teams are going to make that back. And speaking of non-revenue...Texas and Notre Dame would add or create credibility in sports like baseball, softball, swimming, lacrosse and volleyball. Thats a good point. I never thought of the time zone differences. I remember last season LSU opened at Washington at 10pm on ESPN. LSU really controlled the game for the first 3 quarters but really tired in the 4th.
  18. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 11:59 AM) 1-1 a pretty fair result I would have thought. South Africa would want to work on their off-side trap defence going forward though. They better or they will finish the group stages with just 1 point. But either way, I dont see South Africa getting another result from Uruguay or France.
  19. Good game to start the tournament. Mexico held possession and had a few good chances to win. South Africa really did a nice job on countering late in the game.
  20. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) Since I'm here on vacation in Mexico, I'm watching it on Mexican TV and even they are saying it was a good offside call by the refs...there's a defensive player standing at the goal line! Is there some rule I'm not familiar with that you can be a defensive player, stand on the goal line and still have an offside call go your way??I don't get it. Mexico could easily be up 2 goals at halftime... I was told that 2 players have to be between the the offensive player and the goal line. Most cases its the GK and then a defender but it doesnt always have to be if the GK gets caught up field. Confusing as hell.
  21. World Cup trophy. For starters its once every 4 years meaning a player will be lucky to get 3 chances to play for it.. Plus only 7 countries have ever won the 19 events so if you arent born to one of the "elite" countries, chances are you'll never sniff it.
  22. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 02:08 AM) Shogun is out against Rashad, and it's his knee again. He had surgery already. What a f***ing shame too. ugh. I hope the UFC gives Shogun the time he needs to heal instead of giving another joke interim title fight to Evans and whoever.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) It's actually 30 scholarships, 10 lost a year from 2011-2013. wow, that is huge.
  24. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) It all starts tomorrow, not sure if I should watch the opening game or be at the Hawks parade, then you have Sox - Cubs. What a day tomorrow is going to be. Any predictions on tomorrow? South Africa - Mexico Uruguay - France I'm saying both games in 1-1 draws. So excited tomorrow. I got to run and replace the brand new tire I bought last weekend for my car by 730 so I can be home in time for the WC opener. Then the other game along with Super Regionals starting. Then the Miami game at 7. Then if there is time, catch the Sox-Cubs highlights on MLB Network. I hope to gain 5 pounds this weekend with all the sports on tv.
