QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 31, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) but this Iowa team will get annihilated in a BCS bowl if it were to get there. Yeah they will. I just hope its in a meaningless Rose Bowl game instead of the national title game. Would hate to see a Florida/Alabama/Texas team just handed a national title. -

So Ole Miss was down 31-14 with 6 minutes left in the 3rd. Mississippi scores a TD and for whatever reason goes for 2. Of course Auburn causes a turnover on the attempt and takes it back for 2 points to make it 33-20. Amazing how stupid some of the coaches are when it comes to going for 2 points. -

I guess leading with your shoulder is now a 15 yard penalty. Indiana has to beat both Iowa and the Big 10 officials today. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 31, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) His foot was not down. That was clear when it was in slow motion. Just because the guy was right there doesn't make the call right. See 2009 MLB playoffs, umpires. Stansi needs to sit down. I thought I saw a line in the field/rubber from where the WR's toe was dragging. Indiana has been f***ed over a lot this year by the refs. I'm sure the Big Ten will do everything possible to protect Iowa today. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 31, 2009 -> 01:58 PM) At this point I don't want to hear about Iowa being good. Even if they come back this result is enough for me to want them blackballed from BCS discussion. They are so overdue for a loss, it's not funny. I don't want to hear the RB was out excuse. It's Indiana. Wouldnt matter who was running the ball today for Iowa, the Indiana d-line is just pushing Iowa's O-Line off the ball. No running lanes whatsoever so far. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) Hell to be honest, Arkansas is a lot like Notre Dame. I don't think Mallet is quite as good as Claussen though and they don't have quite as good of WR's as Notre Dame has. Defensively they are both awful though. Bottom line, Arkansas is a worse version of ND and while I love ND there is no way I'd be arguing about how great they were. ND has all the talent in the world offensively and could stun someone in any one game, but in no way shape or form are they that great of a "team" (and I'm a ND fan). They'll make a bowl and be rated but Weiss needs to get canned. Ole Miss - They aren't very good. People argue that its such a deep conference cause Ole Miss was a pre-season top 10 team, but you know what, Ole Miss flat out sucks. The experts got it wrong. Florida and Alabama have had poor offensive play. Both have legit defenses and some special players on offense. Bama has the stud running game, Florida has Tebow willing them to victory but neither team can pass there way down the field. Hell, Stanzi is a better passing QB than Bama or Florida's and he's the weak link of the hawkeyes (who in no way am I necessarily insinuating are a better team than Florida/Bama, although I'd widely argue the notion that them or OSU would get blown out). Iowa and OSU have gotten better (OSU much better following that Purdue debacle) where as I don't think Florida or Bama have gotten better. Hell, I think LSU is the team that is improving and is probably the best in that conference. Clausen may be the better QB now but he's also started 30+ games while Mallet is around 10 career starts. Wouldnt be surprised to see Mallet as the better QB once his college career ends. All because Stanzi has better stats doesnt mean he's a better passer. Stanzi is a 57% passer compared to Tebow who is 63% passer. Tebow has been plagued by recievers who cant catch this year. Even Alabama's QB McElroy is completing 60% of his passes and he and Tebow both have better TD-INT ratio's. I dont know if I'd rate McElroy as a better QB but I dont wouldnt say Stanzi is better either. I'd say Tebow is the better passer than either of those two though. Also I dont know how you can say OSU has gotten much better following the Purdue game. They've played one game against a average at best team. LSU will have their chance this weekend vs Alabama but I dont think they are that good. They were lucky to beat both Georgia who is average and Miss St who is average at best. I wouldnt be surprised to see them lose 3 more games this year (at Alabama, at Ole Miss, Arkansas). -

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) I think the SEC is pretty much 2 Top teams that probably could beat each other 50% of the time, 7 teams (Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, LSU, Kentucky) that could matchup and play some great games against each other, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Auburn that can pull the upset sometimes. The ACC, on the other hand....what a mess. The bold is basically what the ACC is. SEC fans think its just shows how deep their conference is but they think its a mess when it pertains to other conferences. -

I've always liked Virginia's and Nebraska's helmet. But my favorite is probably Florida State's. I think Brian Kelly could find a few better options in the next year or two than Illinois. I bet FSU is kicking themselves right now with Jimbo Fischer being their Head Coach in Waiting. -
Just watched the Sakuraba fight from the latest DREAM event. Saku is probably my favorite fighter ever but he needs to retire. I just hope he doesnt end up with longer term physical problems.

QUOTE (SockMe @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 07:07 PM) Random Question: Who is Better Iowa or TCU? I'd take TCU. -
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 06:44 PM) I completely agree, but is there a more overrated player than Greg Olsen? It might fall on Turner's shoulders, but he's making way less of an impact then I thought he would this year. Greg Olsen has been overrated since his days in college. He has all the measurables to be a force but he just doesnt make plays for whatever reason.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) I rewatched the fight and IMO the decision was a good one. Round 1: 10-9 Machida, and I can't see giving this to Shogun Round 2: 10-9 Machida, but I could definitely see going 10-10 here. But I can't give this to Shogun. Round 3: 10-9 Machida, can't give this to Shogun Round 4: 10-9 Shogun, can't give this to Machida Round 5: 10-9 Shogun, can't give this to Machida I'd go 48-47 Machida exactly as the judges have it, and I could see going with a 48-48 draw. Shogun did not win that fight and people who did are probably being influenced by 1) Rogan and Goldberg's commentary, and 2) Shogun stalking Machida throughout the fight. Shogun won that fight and Rogan had nothing to do with it. Shogun clearly won the last 2 rounds. Shogun also outstruck Machida in rounds 1 (19-11) and round 3 (19-15). It's not like Machida had rocked Shogun to the point that he could make up being outstruck. In round 2 Shogun outstruck Machida 21-7 but you cant give that to him? I know you turned off the volume so Rogan couldnt influence your thoughts but did you close your eyes too? Machida got exposed big time last night. His bandwagon was insane the last few months but all his UFC opponents before last night were perfect matchups for him. Machida will get his ass kicked and hopefully be put to sleep next time out.

I had Shogun winning rounds 1,4 and 5 for sure. Rounds 2 and 3 were tossups but I thought he took round 2nd and Machida the 3rd. 49-46 in my book. When Buffer said all three judges had it 48-47 I thought to myself, "wow, closer than I thought." I couldnt believe it when he said Machida. Everyone had Shogun winning that fight. Rossen's blog on espn was already proclaiming a new champ. Fightmetric had Shogun winning. Jordan Breen (Sherdog): 48-47 Rua Brian Knapp (Sherdog): 48-47 Rua Mike Fridley (Sherdog): 50-45 Rua Sergio Non (USA Today): 49-46 Rua Beau Dure (USA Today): 48-47 Rua MMA Junkie: 49-46/48-47 Rua promma.info: 50-45 Rua fiveouncesofpain.com: 50-45 The UFC judging has now entered that area of boxing shadiness. And who really cares about a rematch right now. It's a joke that Shogun has to beat Machida twice to win that belt.

Marcus Jordan - Adidas Situation
zenryan replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 03:56 PM) i think this deal with adidas actually provides all athletic apparel for every sport at the university, not just basketball & football. It does. 1.4% of the revenue is from the adidas contract. That 1.4% might not sound like a lot but if UCF loses its contract, the school would be forced to buy all equipment, clothing and shoes at cost for the 15 sports. Jordan claims UCF said that they worked out a deal with adidas and of course adidas says thats not true. If I was UCF I'd say wear the adidas shoes or get lost. There are already rumors of Jordan using UCF to break out in hopes of transferring to a bigger school. -
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) Eh, alot of Bears fans I talk to, a ton of girls at that, all think Urlacher needs to go. A lot of girls that have met him do not like his "I'm better than you" personality. From all accounts, the man is a dk and alot of Bears fans that I'm surrounded by have realized that. And these aren't super duper diehard fans either.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) As a general rule, anything less than 5 MPH over won't hold up in court, because it is considered within the margin of error of the radar device. So if I were you, I'd go to court and simply say you were doing 25 according to your speedometer, and you think the radar may have gotten it wrong. I'd be shocked if you didn't get off, or get probation or the like at least. I've heard a police officer say that the unwritten rule is anything above 10% of the posted speed. I live in Florida so who knows what other states "unwritten rules" are. I got ticketed for 97 in a 70. It was only a $155 ticket. I was actually relieved when the cop handed it to me.

Cant believe I fell for SD when I picked them to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. What a moron I was. Atleast my NFC pick in Atlanta hasnt blown up in my face.

SEC really protected Florida today. Arkansas shouldve won but Florida escapes. Florida's offense is bad and I wouldnt be surprised if Mississippi St keeps it close next week since the MSU HC is the former Florida OC. Florida loses at South Carolina and to Alabama this year. -

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 17, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) The same can be said about Juice Williams, although not as talented as Pryor he has regressed big time this season. I was going to make that comparision. 2 years ago when Juice beat Ohio St, everyone was raving about him. Then because of bad coaching he doesnt progress and starts to regress. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 17, 2009 -> 02:25 PM) Its all on the coaching staff and the QB coach who has ZERO experience developing QB's when the #1 recruit in the country was better as a freshman. I agree. Pryor might not be the greatest passer but he should be progressing given his athletic abilities. He's really at a standstill development wise. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 17, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) I would say so. Pryor is just terrible at QB. I call him Terrible Pryor. -
As a Bucs fan I like this trade too. I couldnt believe that Adams has 13 career sacks. I wouldve guessed maybe 7.
