Liddell or Jackson tonight? I'm not the biggest UFC fan but this stuff has caught my interest lately and I'm the one having people over tonight for the PPV. These guys have only faced off once before, yes, and Jackson won? And I don't know how much it matters, when they fought they didn't go at it in the octagon but in the "squared circle"?

Yes, Jackson beat Liddell a few years back. It was in PRIDE, which uses a traditional ring, rather than UFC which has the octagon-shaped cage.

Rampage!!!

Noobs. Hahaha. I got Rampage by decision cause I am not a Liddell fan, but in all honesty, Liddell should crush Rampage pretty easily IMHO. The footage of Rampage is the old Jackson, he's a much different fighter now and I think you'll see that tonight.

Couple of questions:

-Any other fights on the card that I should pay particular attention to?

-About what time can I expect the Liddell/Jackson fight?

1. UFC Light Heavyweight Championship: Chuck Liddell vs. Quinton Jackson

2. Terry Martin Vs. Ivan Salaverry

3. Karo Parisyan vs. Josh Burkman

4. Houston Alexander vs. Keith Jardine

5. Chris Leben vs. Kalib Starnes

6. Thiago Silva vs. James Irvin (Dark)

7. Sean Salmon vs. Eric Schafer (Dark)

8. Jeremy Stephens vs. Din Thomas (Dark)

9. Carmelo Marrero Vs. Wilson Gouveia (Dark)

Fight night at Buffalo Wild Wings once again for me.

I'm going to have to disagree Steve. I think it will be a closer fight than you are saying. Rampage has had 3 losses since he fought chuck. 2 of those to Wandy when he was probably the best LH Fighter in either organization. The other was to Shogun who is a very very good fighter now who would be one of the top fighters in UFC. Nothing to scoff at. I think Rampage has just as good of a shot as winning as Liddell. Also, 2007 has been upset city so I wouldn't be surprised to see Rampage take this one.

I am going with stoppage by GnP in the 2nd round. Rampage the winner.

Unanimous decision in the Leben (sp?) fight? Was I the only one who thought that was pretty much 50/50 and could have gone either way?

Liddell loses. Continues the streak of UFC upsets on main events.

Holy sh.....

Liddell out in the 1st round.

Chuck got rocked. Caught a right hook and he was done.

I wouldn't call this an upset really

I agree, Lidell got smoked tonight!

I'd like to pat myself on the back. I called Rampage by ground and pound. I was just a round off :)

There was no ground and pound. It was basically a stand-up KO.

Leben sucks.

I dont want to see him on any ppv anymore. only UFN or prelims.

If Chuck was going to lose, that was the way I expected it to happen.

Caught with a stiff shot, knocked off his feet (that part did surprise me) and Rampage pounced on him.

Chuck will be back, no doubt, but Jackson's got to be in his head now.

There was a lot of talk on sports radio that Liddell was more or less doing the media push(Entourage, SI, ESPN interviews) and probably would lose because of all of the focus he put on the media aspect. The way I interpreted it was that he was on the buffet circuit and wasnt training the way he was supposed to. He didnt prove any of that wrong.

Honestly, the shot he took to the mouth didnt look like something that would KO him like that.

Chuck didn't seem puffy to me. Maybe the media jaunts distracted him, but I think the KO had more to do with Jackson (and a possible quick stoppage, although I have no real problem with it, since Chuck's hands were down) than Chuck's preparation or lack thereof.

The shot seemed to catch him while he was moving backwards a bit, and definitely rattled him to the point where Rampage could pounce on him and rain punches down.

Legit punch, legit KO, legit win.

I think i'm more excited for Rampage's next fight than this one. Rampage vs. Henderson is going to be a very good fight and I guarantee Dan will be a very good match for Rampage. He isn't a 2 weight champion in Pride for no reason.

Amazing show last night. UFC is on such a roll right now, that they've got huge matchups for the next 12 months easily.

The crowd was once again just awesome.

Alexander became a superstar in one night with that one over Jardine. Once again it goes to show, you cannot take anyone lightly in 2007.

If you didn't see this show, you need to get the replay.

In a nutshell that's why UFC is smoking everyone in terms of PPV buyrates. You want to see him fight again, and you've got to pay to watch it happen.

If anyone reading this thread has never seen UFC before, or has seen the hype in SI or SportsCenter as of late, this one event would hook you.

Last night for me was awesome, took in the Jim Beam club for awhile, then came home and watched UFC. :headbang
