Huge win after last week's debacle. I dont think many people had Miami 3-1 after 4 games. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) Semi-disaster struck. 3-0 loss to South Korea. Got help from Germany and beat out Cameroon for 3rd so there is still a slim shot that they can get through, but I'm not sure I want to see this team play again. It's probably a toss up if they get through since England sucked it up today. Looks like it will come down to if Costa Rica can beat the Czechs. If not, we'll be matched up against Egypt which would be entertaining since they are the hosts. But this team isnt that good really so it would just be another multi goal defeat.

LD is coming on strong this season. Cant wait for next week's show. Entourage is ending strong but maybe its because the first half of this season has sucked big time.

For the rest of the season, I'll be betting on Michigan OVERS if its around 60 points. -
Anyone else feel TUF has lost a lot of steam this season b/c we know that the coaches wont be fighting each other after the season wraps up? Guess we'll have to rely on the fighters to carry the season and that usually isnt a good thing.

Well today totally sucked but I cant say that I didnt see it coming. We dont have the running backs and O-line to play smash mouth football and thats what we needed today to have any chance. Well OU next week then we can get to some easy games which the team and the fans watching could def. use right about now. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 11:46 PM) USC was without their starting QB last week, so that's not a completely fair comparison IMO. And I wouldn't be so dismissive of Miami's chances tomorrow. Even with 3 starting d lineman now out for the Canes, Virginia Tech still has major offensive issues and Jacory is still great. The weather and that stadium will both help Tech though. USC might have been missing their starting QB but its not like Barkley is some world beater right now. Plus the guy who did start was the starter coming into fall camp. Lane Stadium during the day doesnt scare me but the wet field does. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) Yeah, but Ole Miss is still one of the more overrated #4 teams of recent memory. South Carolina would be awfully good if the Ole' Ballcoach could put together anything resembling a consistently respectable offense because that defense is pretty good (the Georgia game notwithstanding). USC started the season ranked 4th and they lost on the road as a 20 point favorite while Ole Miss lost on the road only as a 4.5 point favorite. Maybe Ole Miss was overrated a bit but thats what happens when there's only 3 really good teams(Florida,Texas,Alabama) and the rest is basically a crapshoot. Look at my Hurricanes, they went from unranked to 9th in just 3 weeks. They should be around the 15 range but the lack of great teams have made them 9 in one poll. They'll probably lose tomorrow and there will be another team ranked there that shouldnt be. -
This fight matchup was leaked a few months ago on mma.tv by a poster with the results. Bad matchup for Kimbo but atleast it looks like he is going about the fight business the right way now. He appears to really want to learn. He probably could've handled himself well against some of the other guys in the house. Keeping him on UFNs would be smart. He's not going to generate a big spike in PPV numbers IMO but he would generate big ratings on a free shows that Spike offers.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 01:25 PM) I'm sure the disappointment of playing Boise State is so large that they forget they are playing for the national friggen championship. I wasnt talking about the disappointment of playing Boise in the NC game. I was responding to you saying Boise beating OU wasnt a fluke. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 10:14 AM) Amen. Do I want to see Boise in the NC? No, but if they get there and manage to win I'll bet it'll have been one of the most entertaining games ever. You have to respect that team for recruiting the way they have in a place like that. And their victory over Oklahoma was anything but fluke. The only thing more of a fluke than needing a hook and ladder to tie the game and a Statue of Liberty to win the game is a hail mary. -

Teams like OU and Alabama had no interest in their games against Boise/Utah. Playing those teams are major letdowns in their minds. The mental aspect is huge in college sports. You think Alabama wanted to play some "mid major" team a month after losing their chance to play for a title? So of course there's a good chance you'll get a close game when one team is playing their Super Bowl and the other team is just there to get a free PS3. Sure Boise stands a small chance to upset a Florida/Texas/Alabama when neither team has played for 50 days. But winning one game a season (Oregon game) shouldnt give you the chance to play a school that has to go through a good conference for 8-9 games for a title. If Boise St wants that kind of respect then they need to atleast get in the Mountain West Conference. I just dont want to hear their fans crying when they go undefeated and 2-one loss teams are playing for the title. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 12:12 AM) So if Boise were to make the title game and win, that would bad because? Seems to me it would mean they would have earned the National Championship and deserved to be there. But hey, that's just me! Winning by a fluke doesnt mean they deserved to be there. -
Is it too early to start a "time to play for 2011" thread?
-
Well the guy is a great athlete and could be competitive against your C-level fighters.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) People picking BYU haven't actually watched them much. They can't handle elite athletes (the Oklahoma game was a perfect storm of flukes, most noteable of which was Bradford getting hurt) and we saw that exposed against Florida State. TCU will beat them later this year too, and if they play a team with elite athletes in a bowl, they'll lose again. BYU was able to hang with OU because the Sooners are a finesse team. It's easier for less talented teams to hang with those type teams, especially finesse teams that is breaking in 4 new O-lineman and missing their 2 best offensive weapons. FSU is a very physical team, especially on the offensive line and was able to basically manhandle BYU. -
Walker has been following MMA for awhile and has MMA training. Dont know if it was just casual or not but its not like he's some guy who is green to the sport.

Only way Boise can get to that title game is if every one loses 2 games. Boise's schedule is a joke and there is no way the computers would put a 1 loss BCS team behind Boise State. -

QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 01:32 PM) I didn't think there was any way BYU was going to beat Florida State. Im just glad they got that loss now so they can go away and Boise State can get up to #2 and get in the title game. That way, everyone who b****es about these teams who never have a chance get to see Boise get destroyed in the Championship game and they make sure it never happens again. I would never want to ruin a title game just to expose Boise. Who would want to see a Florida/Texas vs Boise title game? And god forbid Boise somehow flukes out a victory. -

Nice win tonight. Probably should have dropped 40+ put the team lost focus at the end. This might be a good thing since the coaches will have something to get on their asses about before VT. Missed one of our top 2 WR's tonight but there are plenty of playmakers at WR so we really didnt miss a beat. -
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) they are lower caliber fighters or younger up and coming prospects, they are not as skilled as the top fighters. I'm not sure how you can find something exciting and not care for it. Takayama/Frye is one of the most ridiculously sloppy fights in the history of MMA, but it's one of the most exciting fights ever. I just like to enjoy the fights and not over think them. I didnt care for this particular card. I actually like UFN's because that means the lower level fighters are littering the PPV's.

Didnt really care for the UFN card. These UFN's are usually exciting but way too sloppy for my liking.
