QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) If you really believe a word of that, I'll be happy to take te insider info for a couple years an let you know how it turns out. And nothing is stopping you from paying Reuters for that info. Again what was illegal here?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2013 -> 01:14 PM) Apparently there are 3 tiers of importance for the release of the "Consumer confidence" index numbers. Normal proles get the numbers at 10:00 a.m., people who pay enough money to Reuters get the numbers at 9:55, and a select group of those can actually get the numbers even earlier: 9:54:58. Thankfully it's not possible to conduct several thousand trades in those 2 seconds or in those 5 minutes, otherwise this would be legalized insider trading. What advantage does this give someone? You assume these people will make the right trade with the number. But markets are not rational, especially now with the Fed intervening. There is no guarantee that the market will move one way or the other if the corresponding number is +/-. There is / was nothing illegal here. Oil inventories came out last week and were worse than expected and the market was up. So if you had the number and you put on a bearish position and the number was bearish and the market went against you by going up, having the number did not benefit you.

10% corporate tax. No deductions, no expensing. No lobbying for loopholes...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2013 -> 12:40 PM) Yeah, I know. Why on Earth would anyone ever think that an organization calling itself "True the Vote" might have lied on its statement when it declared that its "primary purpose" was not political? What exactly does that have to do with the alphabet soup showing up at thier door?

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/3487...an-kay-melchior I'm sure this was just a coincidence.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 20, 2013 -> 11:35 AM) Sorta odd to see Republicans complaining about invasions of privacy from various government investigative institutions. These laws suck, but it doesn't appear that they've done anything remotely illegal. Congress could change these laws they implemented at any time, but they don't. This guy could s*** on live tv and you would say he is just fertilizing the rose garden. Gimme a break.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/a-rare...31f9_story.html Hmmm. Just a guess, but I bet this is another case where Narcissus knows nothing.

Representative Emanuel Cleaver (D., Mo.) pointed to President Obama’s “pigmentation” as the driving force behind Republicans’ outcry over the scandals plaguing the administration. ”These people are obsessed with the president, he has taken control of their soul,” Cleaver said. “It’s going to be very very difficult for us to erase some of the things they’ve embraced,” he added. “They simply want this to be a figment of his pigmentation.” Quick put out an APB for this loons brain. How does anyone even give him the airtime to espouse the same old rhetoric.

Speaking of the MSM, I love how all the libs have their panties in a knot because the KOCH brothers are looking into the Tribune Co newspapers.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 07:47 PM) No. We need more Obamanomics. Clearly it's working. More of the same. Keynes rules!

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 02:46 PM) It's a sad story, and it sucks, and it's a good thing we have programs like Medicare and Social Security to help people like this, but at some point you have to draw a line in the sand and admit that the government literally cannot just pay for everyone to live what you believe to be a good life. Will this retirement problem suck for some people? Absolutely. What do you propose is the solution? Increase taxes to fund higher levels of social security? How much would we have to do that to give someone a "living wage" that would pay for someone living in retirement for 20 years? Well Jabba the hut was on TV yesterday saying the CME and CBOT should be paying for kids in Chicago to go to school. scary that she is a teacher and has the ability to impart " wisdom " on those poor kids.

An Ipswitch, Ma., middle-school principal has canceled his school’s annual honors assembly because it was too upsetting for some students. Boston’s Fox affiliate reports the explanation of Principal David Fabrizio, the man at the center of the silliness: “Honors Night, which can be a great sense of pride for the recipients’ families, can also be devastating to a child who has worked extremely hard in a difficult class but who, despite growth, has not been able to maintain a high grade point average.” Fabrizio also justified his decision by claiming it was unfair to reward good grades — which can be be influenced by the home environment and supportive parents — because not all of students have access to equal amounts of academic and emotional support.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) No they had to talk about White House Tours and the Egg Roll and, of course, Paul Ryan's (isn't he just dreamy?!) budget. Seems odd to be complaining about network news coverage when you're linking to AP, though. Network news= AP. Got it.. Same thing..

Somehow I missed the coverage of this story on the network news. You would think a doctor killing babies would be something they would want to cover. Or a nurse. Maybe if they had a gun they would cover it.

Medical assistant Adrienne Moton admitted Tuesday that she had cut the necks of at least 10 babies after they were delivered, as Gosnell had instructed her. Gosnell and another employee regularly “snipped” the spines “to ensure fetal demise,” she said. Moton sobbed as she recalled taking a cellphone photograph of one baby because he was bigger than any she had seen aborted before. She measured the fetus at nearly 30 weeks, and thought he could have survived, given his size and pinkish color. Gosnell later joked that the baby was so big he could have walked to the bus stop, she said. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_...-03-19-02-54-43 If only we could find the dullest, rustiest pair of scissors to do the same to this pile of s***....And just let him f***ing squirm until he stops. These people and the people who defend them should all rot in hell.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) I honestly don't know. We know it happens, we don't know to what degree. Provide people free ID's if they need them. Drive people to polls if you want. But make sure that the people that vote are living people who are physically present at the polling station (or that can be tracked to make sure there's not any double voting with absentee ballots). It's f***ing 2013. We have the means to do this. But we have to have absentee voting and early voting or nobody would be able to vote on Election Day. Somehow over the past 10 -20 years it is impossible for people to vote on the actual day they hold an election. How in the hell did this country survive 41 Presidential elections without early voting.....Because like that fraud in Ohio who voted multiple times....it never happens......purge dead people from the roles? Why do you need to do that?

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 5, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) whew. That was intense. Just had 3 $200 charges made on my account within 15 minutes. I had $100 alerts on luckily and was able to call Chase right away. They are a good bank to have for that stuff. I put a fraud alert on my credit as well. Hopefully contained any damage. That sucks. Hope they take care of that for you.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 5, 2013 -> 08:22 AM) Guessing where the market is going to go is exactly that...guessing. If any of you actually *knew* where the market was going let alone when it was going there, you would and should be billionaires. With a B. Instead, you're here telling us you know. Shaddap.

Would not be surprised at all to see the market test the 1549 level going into the anniversary of the 2009 low tomorrow. We could also see an overthrow top, over the 2007 high all the way to the 1618-1620 level. This would define a megaphone top and I would look to short or add to shorts up there.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 4, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) I bought Puts. We'll see what happens. Wish they were as cheap as 2007-2008. That is another thing. Look at where we are now (Dow, S&P), where the vix is now, and where the out of the money puts are trading. Even though we are just off the highs and the vix is at 14% these puts still have a bigger bid to them than they did in 2007. My point has always been and will always be that th enews breaks with the cycles, not the other way around. I know it is counter-intuitive to think that way but in the context of market cycles it works.
