  1. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 03:48 PM) I'll bet someone is close to uncovering something big. Maybe she was blackmailed into resigning? As you have mentioned, it doesn't really make sense to quit mid-term for the sake of helping her run for presidency, especially since its several years away and she could have used the time wisely to shore up some of her weaknesses from the last election. Yeah, she is probably pregnant with McCain's baby
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) Good, back to the point. Let's talk about the bill. Here again is what I posted a few pages ago, about the bill, but no one seemed interested in the bill at that time... So, about the bill itself, a few points for discussion... 1. CBO and EPA say this will cost households on average $100 or $200 a year, somewhere in that range. Spread that out over 80 million households, that is $8B to $16B, and is effectively a tax increase. That's an increase in cost that will be put directly on families, and that seems less than ideal. However... why is it that some people are OK with spending 100 times that amount of money fighting wars in Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries, but they aren't OK with this amount of money spent on getting us out of their grip and-oh-by-the-way maybe making all our lives healthier? Seems like screwed up priorities to me. 2. GOP'ers are claiming the real costs will be much higher when you factor in passed-down costs. Probably true. But then, the CBO and EPA numbers also don't reflect the creation and sustaining of a lot of high-paying jobs that this will result in, with money going to that instead of out the door for oil. So, you need to really look at both sets of indirect cost/benefit pieces, not just the one that fits your views. Is that over a certain period, or just for 2020?
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 09:02 AM) I'm looking around at articles on the health care bill right now, and not seeing this. I would highly doubt they would do this. What is your source? And if you are right that it is being proposed, you are also right in that it would never pass. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...id=aDvu77pZr7k4
  4. So the Dems are floating an idea that would tax insurance benefits, with Obama's blessing, but, they would exclude UNION EMPLOYEES. WTF? Talk about a payoff. IMO this will never pass.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 09:25 AM) Who are all of these currently underutilized health care professionals, and what are they doing now? All I can think of is the janitor from SCRUBS.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 10:49 PM) Did anyone see the video of Barbara Boxer cutting off a Brigadier General who called her "ma'am" at an EPW hearing yesterday? She demanded that he call her Senator. Thank god we have women like that in charge who see it as their job to publicly embarrass those who fight for our country. What a b****. She was sooo polite in cutting him off while he was answering her question.
  7. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) There should absolutely be an investigation into this firing assuming that Obama did not properly follow protocol on the firing of the inspector general. That being said, Glenn Beck has no business giving anyone a sanity test.
  8. http://michaelsavage.wnd.com/index.php?fa=...amp;pageId=6556 Walpin was on Beck last night and he said the council asked him to give a speech in San Francisco just days after they accused him of being "disoriented". Someone is lying to cover some ass here, don't ya think?
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 08:20 PM) I'm not sure who "they" is (and it's not Democrats or Republicans, but Republicans tend to be the one to push this specific point), but if "they" is the current administration, they've said they're willing to put limits on malpractice lawsuits into the reform package. Frankly it's a non-issue and I don't see why someone who'd want to overhaul healthcare would be deadset on not going ahead with it. They are the strawmen Obama uses in every argument he makes for doing something. There are those.......There are many......There are some.....It is getting old, quick.
  10. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 08:37 AM) Sarah Palin on the Today show on Friday: Like he said she did not call him a child molester.
  11. So the classless David Letterman makes fun of Palin by calling her a slutty flight attendant and makes fun of her 14 yr old daughter being raped by Alex Rodriguez. You sir are a douche and should be beaten with a baseball bat.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:29 PM) There's probably legit medical reasons to do late-term abortions... but it had better be damn good. Not a reason like "I'm not ready to have this baby now." No, that is a decision you make and act on as soon as you find out you're pregnant, if you must... after about the first trimester, the window closes IMO.
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) a. lol @ you drawing that comparison. Some member of a government agency f***ed up, that's not the same thing as the president authorizing its release. b. I think you're trying to defend Cheney here, but in reality he is making s*** up. I don't know if he convinced himself that was true or what, but even if it was, it's not like that's something that can just be proven with a simple document request, and the concept doesn't even logically follow anyway. Don't take my word for it, take Director Mueller's word: Then what could possibly cause Obama to refuse to release them?
  14. http://www.rollcall.com/issues/54_139/news/35448-1.html Short of murder, what does Murtha need to do to warrant an ethics investigation by Pelosi?
  15. As expected, still no statement on WhiteHouse.Gov on recruiter shootings in Arkansas.
  16. Waiting for the U.S Marshals to be posted at recruiting centers to protect the soldiers doing their jobs.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) Killing a man for political reasons is the definition of terrorism. Thank you for the lesson. Don't know why you feel the need to try make me care about this low-life or the low-life who killed him.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 31, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) Impressive how tolerant of terrorism you are when it is done to someone who's politics you don't like. My heart is bleeding and I'm not even liberal. Save it for someone who cares. I didn't condone the murder, but what comes around goes around. His killer should be executed in my opinion. It was pre-meditated, no doubt. You mean manufactured domestic incident not terrorism, right?
  19. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ May 30, 2009 -> 09:25 AM) The New Haven case was a pure example of judicial restraint, not judicial activism. The 3-0 decision of which Sotomayor was only one vote, dealt solely with the fact that the city was trying to deal with federal law as it was written and not as you may perceive it to be. The truth is that current federal employment laws that municipalities have to follow don't allow cities to promote or hire based on tests that primarily favor one race or another. The court's view was that since nobody was promoted as a result of a test that under federal law would be viewed as flawed because the city was taking steps to avoid liability in this case, that this case shouldn't have been brought up. This unsigned decision was made on extremely narrow basis of the law. For all the talk about "activist judges" around here by conservatives, you'd think there'd be more respect for decisions made that apply the law, not create new policies. Either a person knows the material or not. It says a lot when you have to grade on a curve to promote one person over another. What happens when a city promotes a person and their inexperience or lack of brains causes someone to lose their life? But at least we had the person we wanted in the position whether they know their job or not.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 29, 2009 -> 04:24 PM) Maybe he was abused by a hispanic woman as a child. Whatever, someone says something that hateful, they deserve to simply be ignored by thinking people. And yet you guys love to talk about him. He obviously feels he needs to say outrageous stuff to try to be relevant. Like Jesse Jackson and Sharpton, ignore them and they will go away.
  21. Tiller the baby killer was killed himself today in Kansas. Karma is a b****. I would be interested to hear Sebelius's comments.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 28, 2009 -> 08:27 PM) Uh how do you define "talk"? I mean I've heard "talk" that Bush wanted to bring back the draft, go to war with Iran before his term was up, etc. I've heard "talk" that Obama has a secret plan to enslave Americans and create secret police to stifle dissent. A 25% sales tax is just plain LMAO. Do you believe everything you read? Well the Emmanuel's brother is consulting with the W.H. on the health care plan, and he reccomends a 10% VAT to cover health care for all with no deductibles and a small co-pay.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:56 PM) Sure we are. Who the heck do you think is financing all of this? Santa Claus? Come on, its just a loan. Even though Teasury said GM would not pay back the 19.4 billion WE already gave them. How long do you think it will take GM to pay back the gov't. and actually show a profit after all is said and done? Total infusion somewhere between 75-100 billion dollars. I will say never, anyone else?
  24. QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ May 27, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) Does that mean you think she is not qualified? I personally believe a President should have all of his choices up for a vote in front of the full Senate. I do not agree with her thinking, but neither her, nor Stevens' nor Ginsburg's replacement will change anything. Vote her in and get on with business.
  25. QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ May 27, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) Sotomayor is as qualified as any other serious candidate for the court. She has had more judicial experience than Alito, Roberts, Breyer, Souter, Ginsburg, Thomas, Kennedy, O'Connor, Scalia, White, and Stevens--all current or former Supreme Court Justices--had when they were nominated. She was nominated to be a federal judge by Bush, and then unanimously confirmed for that position. Then was promoted to the appeals court by Clinton, and confirmed for a second time. She was nominated by Bush I per the recommendation of Moynihan, who along with D'Amato split seven nominations. As for her jurisprudence: 5 of 7 cases she ruled that reached the U.S. Supreme Court were overturned: 2 by 5-4 majority....1 by a 6-3 majority....1 by a 7-2 majority....and 1 by an 8-0 majority...1 case is pending..Ricci......1 case was upheld but the Court rejected her reasoning.
